      Ha! I had to teach my Texan hubby what a duvet was, and then convince him that the cover means you really don't need an additional top sheet as well.
      Mind you, it's a bit of a PITA changing a duvet cover so ... In hotels & on cruise ships there's no guarantee the duvet cover gets changed after every guest departs - I think I'm OK with having that pesky extra top sheet... :D
      Love your channel, Emma!

      I use a sheet with my duvet so I don’t have to wash the duvet every week. No way in hell am I putting that nightmare on every week!
      Plus, if I get too hot, I can kick the duvet off and just use the sheet (I don’t like sleeping uncovered unless I have to).

      (Hi Emma!)
      I need a top sheet, duvet cover or no. I feel cold if I kick the duvet off and don't have a sheet. It's such a small light thing, but the sheet seems to trap some of my body heat.
      Swapping a duvet cover is a real pain, which is the other reason I use a top sheet. Wash the top sheet often, wash the duvet cover occasionally. (At least, that's how I do it.)

    One issue with reviews is that people don't compare apples to apples. When evaluating a cruise, the price you pay for it should count for a lot.
    We just got back from our first ever cruise on MSC Seashore for a 4 nighter. While on the cruise, we talked to a couple that had only been on RC cruises prior to being on the MSC cruise. They complained that things were better (the food, the shows) on the RC cruise but didn't even mention once about how a RC cruise is more expensive than a MSC cruise. When we were shopping for our cruise and comparing prices, I found RC cruises to be DOUBLE the price of a similar MSC cruise. Obviously, if you are paying double you should be getting more.
    This would be like buying a basic car and then complaining that it doesn't have all the bells and whistles that a luxury car has.
    MSC is a good value FOR THE PRICE.

    • @Zamugustar
      @Zamugustar 4 месяца назад

      More than double most times. The same cruise from RC was 1100 a person for an inside cabin. We paid 550 a person (which included the drinks plus package, 399 a person if we opted for no drinks) on MSC and they upgraded us from inside to deluxe balcony.

    Love msc! Ocean Cay is a designated marine reserve island reconstructed from abandoned sand mining facility. If you are an avid environmentalist you will love the sealife that calls this island its home. Large turtle that digs under seafence at lighthouse to find security and safety will swim right beneath you. Flounder, stingrays, parrotfish, baby barracuda, live conch to name a few. These critters hang out in all the rocks. Snorkel all day long in calm lagoon water to see them. Thanks for the review, thanks Jenny for the ladies view. You bring a lot to the discussion and I like seeing you on the lido team.

    You had a slightly different experience than we did on our December 2023 MSC Seashore cruise. Having a had less than stellar experience on first MSC cruise on Seaside about 8 months earlier I knew how to plan the cruise on Seashore. Booked Aurea instead of Fantastica, got the multi-specialty restaurant experience and skipped the main dining room all together. We are Diamond level thanks to MSC matching our Hilton loyalty level so more perks with that. Boarding was one of the easiest ever on any cruise we have done. Our balcony cabin had a hot tub and the bathroom had a tub. I admit the bathroom was still on the small side. Walk in closet big enough for my wife to change clothes in! I didn't think the entertainment was all that great but fine for an evening. Fun time at the bar at the aft infinity pool! We got great service the entire cruise! I learned to tip cash (just couple of dollars) to many of them at various bars/restaurants and they gave me a VIP. The Dis embarkment was excellent! The fitness center was great to enjoy a morning workout but taking the stairs up and down from deck 15 to deck 8 was the real workout!

    Last January we were in the Yacht Club aboard the Meraviglia and absolutely loved it, aside from disembarkation. Even Yacht Club had to go hunting through the thousands of suitcases to find our luggage after getting off the ship.

    Great video - we are just off the Seashore for 7-days, with many of the same challenges and obs. We'd sail Seaside again, but not Seashore - just too many people and not enough public space for us. We became huge fans of your channel pre-COVID with your daily vlogs. They're a lot of work to film and edit (as we live and learn ourselves), but that content was king during your first-ever cruises! We just got home from back-to-back MSC Seashore cruises. The first one was a 4-day cruise with an overnight stop in Ocean Cay and a stop in Nassau. We had a balcony room, and we hated the small bathroom especially the placement of the toilet and the coffin sized shower. We had an "early dining" which was at 7:15 pm. Our waiters could not understand what an "iced tea" was. They brought an iced tea martini, even after we said it wasn't a martini. Our room steward had to be asked daily for wash towels. On the second cruise, a 3-day to Ocean Cay and Nassau, we moved cabins to the aft starboard side. Unfortunately, it was directly above the smoking area so we couldn't enjoy the balcony as much as we'd like. We got the 5:00 pm early dining and our waiters were excellent. We also loved the sports bar and got to know a few of the bartenders. Since we did a back-to-back, we stayed on the ship until 10 am and then they walked our group (about 90) down to immigration and we went through the scanners and back on the ship. It was a very easy process. Disembarkation on the last morning was crazy. I think we walked about a mile in a line trying to get off the ship. I don't think we will be back on an MSC but overall, I think the food was ok and the bar staff was great.

    We just got back from sailing on the MSC Divina. We really enjoyed most of the cruise. We only disliked a couple of things, smoking...we are not smokers and I have an allergy to it, so we avoided the casino. The muster drill was not fun. Embarkation went super smooth, Debarkation was quick (we took all our things with us). The main dining room food was hands down better than Carnival Mardi Gras' main dining room. We had great service the entire 7 night cruise. The shows were all fantastic, great performances. Butcher Block and Galaxy specialty dining were very good. We will defiantly book another MSC cruise, we will try a bigger ship next, maybe the smoking issue will be not so much on a larger ship.

    I just finished a back to back on the Seashore (1/14-1/21). I sailed over a dozen Carnival cruises, several NCL and 1 RCL. This was my first MSC sailing and these are my thoughts on topics you touched on. I don't normally eat at the buffet yet the food was definitely warmer than the MDR food which actually was pretty poor in temperature and taste. The embarkation process was less than an hour which I felt was a plus. We arrived around noon. I expected it to be terrible. The muster process wasn't too bad. I was very surprised they sailed away without all passengers completing it. They had them do it the next day which I found a bit weird. My balcony (1st leg) and interior (2nd leg) were spotless and our cabin stewards (especially Agus) were wonderful. We did have washcloths on the second leg and we realized the top sheets were not necessary. We may just consider the same when we go back home since our duvet cover is washed often anyway. We saw the magician/ illusionist as well-he was a lot of fun. The other shows were about as good if not better than Carnival. There were plenty of musicians throughout the ship, especially in the Atrium which had a great bar but they need to add more seating. We did not partake in games inside but enjoyed watching. the men/vs women show each sailing. Its as great walking through the casino without the smoke, always an issue on other cruise ships. Never saw anyone in the "smoking box". I don't care for the slot machines in the sports bar-it took up way too much space and more space was needed there especially since there were so many NFL games going on and people had to sit at the slot machines (but didn't play). I agree with you as far as the staff not going out of their way to provide great service but at least they were genuine. The "honey-darlin" is too fake imo. Disembarkation wasn't too bad but we waited until closer to the end since we did not have a plane to catch. We are in your neck of the woods for the next week or so, therefore no rushing for us needed. I would def do the short cruise like you did if I lived near a port. I actually would have taken the one you took if it was available. The ONLY issue I had with Ocean Cay is the shuttle drivers. That is an accident waiting to happen. There were too many close calls between shuttles and pedestrians. It seemed like the drivers purposely went lose to pedestrians to scare them. Thanks for the video!

    We got on the January 21st sailing. We like the pricing of MSC. You just have to know what you are going into . Embarkation went smooth. Dining room food and service was bad. The way they do dining times is awful. Everyone squeezed in a small area, before the doors open. We switched dining rooms and service was better. We ended up at the buffet half the nights. Muster drill is okay, if you can do steps. Disembarking....having to be out of your room at 7am. By the time we reached the buffet, there was absolutely no tables open. We ended going up a floor. Then at 10, they only have 2 floors open to wait. We didn't get called till 10:30.

    Hey, Toney. First, I want to say I really enjoy your videos and all the cruise news. I also want to tell you about our experience on MSC Seashore. We sailed the week before Christmas on a 5 day sailing. The night before our embarkation day, there was a bad storm that hit Central FL and the waters around. Because of this store, the ship was delayed until 3 pm. We understand that no one can control the weather and delays happen when cruising. They way the MSc handled the situation was awful. We ended up missing a whole day of sailing. We waited in the parking lot for 3 hours and didn't get on until 10 pm when we were supposed to board at 6. Also, because of the delay, we were late to Ocean Cay, and there was no food on the island. There were also a lot of other disappointments that happened. The biggest one was that my dad and step mother's couldn't dine with us because we had the drink package and we didn't. They can't drink due to medical reasons. This was a huge disappointment. There needs to be more consideration for those who can't drink and their families. We won't be sailing on MSC any time soon until they fix some of their issues. I guess you get what you pay for. 😢

    Solid review. I agree MSC is for everybody. I just returned from my 2nd MSC cruise yesterday and did the 3 night Nassau and Ocean Cay on the Seashore. Embarkation took 10 minutes, and we dismembered and were in the car driving down the highway within 15 minutes or them starting to let everyone off the ship. We joined the express walk off line at 630am and they started walk offs at 7am. Go with an open mind and you will be okay. We also had the anytime dining as Aurea guests and had no trouble getting in the dining room each night. We did find inconsistencies in timing for dining rooms, venues etc, but hey, we were on vacation. There was always something to eat and while the selection may not be large it was plentiful and very good in most cases. Best pizza at Sea with Princess and Virgin Voyages coming in hot as close seconds. As a travel agent I enjoyed it and would recommend it to my customers. I always try to get them to manage their expectations, depending on budget and the experience they are wanting/willing/able to afford.

Food wasn't bad, I look at it as I didn't pay a 5 star price, so I shouldn't expect 5 star dining. Cabin was small but adequate. The balcony was fantastic. I felt they seemed to be understaffed to be able to give the quality of service you expect. The staff they had were friendly and were doing the best they could.

    We did that short cruise twice--once when the Meraviglia was still in Port Canaveral and once on Seaside. Perfect cruise to take along family/friends who have never cruised and want to try it. Ocean Cay is always a highlight for us. Been there on several longer MSC cruises as well. We do like the Meraviglia class ships better than the Seaside class. Just like the layout a lot more. The Divina, which we took on a Transatlantic, is lovely, but still would choose Meraviglia class when an option.

We've always opted for the Yacht Club experience; this was our 5th venture in YC. We were overwhelmed on our first MSC cruise onboard the Meraviglia when she was homeported in Port Canaveral, and we have since done all except one on CCL. Going again in March! MSC has become our go-to in favor of the wilder CCL options. We're not getting any younger and are well into our 7th decade so the slightly more relaxed MSC fits us well. I went on MSC Meraviglia last January. We were very pleased with our balcony room. We had the spa package and it was fabulous. Main dining was good, steakhouse was incredible. This line is underrated but you must remember this is not an American cruise line. Great prices!

    My wife and I have about 25 cruises under our belts (starting to lose count, lol) on lines that include Carnival, Princess, Celebrity, Royal Caribbean, and MSC. We have sailed MSC four times (Seaside, Seascape, and twice on the Meravigila) and noticed something: our 14 and 7 day cruises had the staff treat us very well and service was quick, but our first-ever 3-day on the Meraviglia was night and day lousy. First time on the "M" (7 day) was dandy, but that 3-day had us standing in line for 45 minutes to get drinks. We surmised that the issue was both lack of staffing and the overall party-attitude of the quick-sailors, which often cause the wait-staff to not even make eye contact. We have an 8-day coming up in May on the Carnival Panorama and really looking forward to it.
    BTW: MSC has a rewards-match program, so if you are Platinum or whatever on another line, they will bring you to the same level, which includes discounts and other perks.

    Whoever gave a bad rating for the MSC Seashore was a flat-out, PAID associate. Me & my family was on there October/2022 & when I tell you that ship was amazing…words can’t even describe it. THEN the diversity of individuals that boarded the ship made it even more fun 👍🏾

      Sometimes I want to think that as well because I will see certain comments like I got sick from the food and MSc is the devil for this or this and that and I feel that can happen and does happen on any cruise line I just feel like almost people In America are wired to hate MSC lol, it is amazing the brand following in Europe though it is the #1 cruise line there

      @kellencunningham3231 Год назад +2

      @@adamp2384 That is true, regarding the hate for the cruise line. I’m still quite a newbie with cruising & haven’t tried all the cruise lines yet, but I’ll definitely take MSC any day

    • @joeln6861
      @joeln6861 Год назад +1

      Just because someone gives a bad review, they are a paid associate (from another line)? That is ridiculous. I can't speak to the Seashore as I have not cruised it, but I DID cruise the MSC Armonia from Venice last year and was very unhappy. The food was lousy, shows not very good, had trouble on an excursion listed as wheelchair friendly that was anything but WC friendly. Most staff were great, but I will never cruise MSC again, and I have also cruised Carnival, Royal C,, NCL (this year in Alaska on the Jewel), and Seawind cruise lines so I can make a fair comparison (about 14 cruises).

    • @adamp2384
      @adamp2384 Год назад

      I don’t think it is a paid associate, and it is unfortunate about the experience you had but to be honest that experience can and does happen on all the other cruise lines you have been on and that if a bad experience happens on an American Cruise line people are more willing to give them a second chance where as in your comment you had one bad experience and vow to never try it again, I have had many flawless cruises with MSC so no person should vow never to sail again based off one experience as again it can and does happen on all the other lines as well and I feel Most people treat MSC in a not as fair way as the other cruise lines

    • @joeln6861
      @joeln6861 Год назад

      I understand your reply, and yes, I would be more likely to go on another "American" line after an off experience, but I have never had as bad an experience as with MSC on multiple levels. I have had issues on the other lines as well, but MSC refused to fix some things that they could have. One issue was the wheelchair accessible excursion we took where the city (Ostuni) was cobblestoned and not accessible in any way. I had to sit in the city center with my mother in her wheelchair and wait for the rest of the tour to go on and come back. There was even an MSC staff member on the tour. After I got back and complained they did nothing at all, no reimbursement for even my 85 year old mother in the wheelchair. There were other issues as well.@@adamp2384

    Lovely meeting y’all on this MSC cruise. We did this same 2 day cruise last year and this year. Better than last year, since embarkation took only like 40 minutes vs last years 4 hours, and the magician on night one was awesome. However, we definitely don’t recommend this cruise. There were too many kids and the pool/hot tub areas were full of children not going to the toilet…and we left the room for the disembarkation at 7:30 like the paper said since our assigned time with luggage assist was at 10:20am 😱, walked down the steps and got in line at 7:35 and got off the ship at 9:10. And service was horrible. Too many people using the drink package so grabbing a drink took 15 minutes each time. 20 while sat in the MDR. Oh well. It was only $200 total (we bought in Oct 22), so a good price on a weekend getaway, but our last time on MSC until the 3yr deadline to maintain our status.

    One question I always had about 2 day cruises: do they still pressure you to buy the drink package on the first day? That’s the only thing that’s tough for me on the budget cruise.

    My only experience on MSC was aboard the Armonia, a smallish ship (60,000-ton class) that was used to go from Miami to Cuba when travel between the USA and that island was permitted. There were some similarities, excluding things that come along with scale. There wasn't much in the way of kids' amenities. There wasn't much in the way of top-deck stuff to do--no rock climbing, surfing or roller coaster. There weren't a lot of crowds. There were announcements made in five languages. The cabins were a bit smaller than what we're used to. There was no private island to visit at that time. The entertainment was fantastic, a stage show of a musical takeoff on the Addams Family was noteworthy. The food was hit and miss. The MDR had their good stuff and not so good. They were willing to substitute things I didn't with things that I would like more. The buffet was more miss than hit. The carving station was a disappointment with the good stuff gone by the time I got there, and I'm not a fan of turkey. The salads were mostly good with some excellent cold cuts--mortadella is a favorite. Their baked things are good. Their pizza is excellent and so is the gelato. I liked the coffee bar the best with good pastries and cappuccino. My favorite place to hang out was the Cigar Lounge (now a former cigar smoker). In my four-day trip I walked by the pool a few times but never went in. I really appreciated the international crowd, making friends from Brazil, England, Germany and Tennessee. MSC is definitely NOT for everyone born in the USA. If you want a cheap getaway, reduce your expectations and go. You'll really enjoy it.

    I cruised with them pre pandemic and post pandemic. Night and day difference. The customer service is soo bad now. We had issues with our booking that weren’t resolved until the day prior to boarding….mainly because no one would help. It took talking to a supervisor of a supervisor of a supervisor to get things straightened out. Onboard the issues continued, the sailing was extremely short staffed, and where this was most concerning was with security. Our deck had security issues and security was no where to be found. Our cabin neighbors called for security multiple times with no response. We called 3 times and were told security was on the way, on the 4th call we were told to call housekeeping to get the hotel manager to handle it (by this time someone could have been seriously injured due to the fighting going on). It was a mess. We decided we are done cruising MSC sadly and our cruises are free (casino comps). My husband said he would rather pay full fare on any other line than sail MSC ever again. The biggest reason is we did not feel safe sailing with them. MSC Divina was my very first cruise so they have a soft spot in my heart, but this last sailing was just so bad.

    Yes. We love MSC and this ship. MSC gives a lot at a great price.
    The muster drill and embarkation is easier and faster if you can hit the earliest wave. Debarking is always a long line when trying to leave early. But it’s always well organized and once it starts moving it’s fast!
    Walking and taking stairs always make things easier on this ship. We like that aspect. But, We know it can be hard on those with mobility issues. Support is there but you’ve got to actively ask. They are very helpful when we have our MIL with us!

    My group went on the MSC Seascape a year ago… we felt the crew were rude. One of the officers in the buffet area admonished my 90 year old Mother to move her mobility scooter immediately after she stopped to say good morning to her Granddaughter at a table during breakfast one morning. Other incidents but that was the one that stands out the most to me.
    Our suite was a floor below the deck and every morning at 5am the crew would clean and reorganize the deck chairs/tables loudly. So that was our alarm clock for the week. The service deck said it was nothing they could do because the ship was sold out.
    The best part of MSC was the thermal SPA with the all inclusive photos in 2nd place.
    We haven’t decided if we will go on another MSC cruise but MSC keeps sending new discount offers.
