and MY point is that they DID make the American release easier than the Japanese release, i just didn't know that there wasn't a difficulty setting so i phrased it as i did, after all i DID say that i never played the first game, so again, the American release was changed to be easier than the original Japanese release, i simply didn't phrase it right as i didn't know that there wasn't a difficulty setting
...I think I have Mega Man 5 on my 3DS that I got from the eShop Tomahawk Man took me 3 hours... with rapid-saving. But then, Knight Man took me only a few minutes, and Centaur Man took a few seconds. I guess it gets easier when you have a power equipted from a previous level. XD

Did you try the pause abuse technique? If you do it fast enough, you can use the Thunder Beam to shave up to 12 HP off of Yellow Devil.
