I can’t talk for the steam deck but I do live in Italy and I do a lot of work in Turkey and I play with the PlayStation remote play on my iPad with a ps5 controller and it works just fine, just have a good WiFi on both ends and it works great, it takes a while to connect (sometimes up to 3-5 min to get the connection) but once it’s on it works just fine I played a lot of elden ring this way and didn’t feel a lot of latency. Also great guide, I was considering buying a Meta quest 3 but after seeing the power of the steam deck I think I changed my mind
Appreciate your video, took me a long time since I'm completely new to PC gaming and the SD but eventually got it figured out and am now web-slinging around NY on the go. Thanks much!
can you do a chiaki4deck VS PSplay comparison? I'm sure most people would love to see it as well cuz there's no reason we'd convert to psplay unless it's faster or more consistent than Chiaki4deck. Especially you have to pay for it as well
@thanksyoutubefortakingmyhandle From personal experience I can tell you psplay is much better even for streaming to mobile. If chiaki is giving you any lag or bad quality try the psplay demo and you'll be okay with the $15 for the upgrade
I always have a small delay when streaming. The PS5 is connected via a network cable and the Steam Deck via WiFi 6g with a high-quality Asus router. But I still always have a 1 second delay.
Thats a huge delay. Never seen one that bad. A full second or 1000ms delay is insane. Might want to start adjusting settings i. The app for video bitrate and audio. Experiment with some different settings to try and get that down
This guide was great thank you. In terms of PSPlay over Chiaki, what benefits, if any do you see from using PSPlay? Do you think it performs better? I have Chiaki set up already so just working out of there would be any benefit to me swapping to this. Thanks
If Chiaki is alrdy working great your probably good. These are teo solution to the same problem and both work well. For me personally I feel psplay has always given me less troubles and a little better input latency. Its what I prefer but I have them both installed and like them both. Maybe I will do a comparison type thing soon and see if I can show any differences or not.
They both do a great job. Chiaki is free open source app amd psplay which is now PXPlay is a one time paid app with support and updates. For me paplay always worked a bit better and I like it more. But I use both
Chiaki always gives me green screen and a slight input latency although I have 1tb fiber optics internet. I have the steam deck lcd one. Does the psplay app do this too?
Not to go against the grain here, but after paying for PSPlay, I can say chiaki4deck definitely performs better on my particular setup. Chiaki connects almost instantly, where PSPlay might take 10-30 seconds. And the frame timing on Chiaki appears to be much smoother for me. PSPlay is still new, so things are sure to improve!
Appreciate the comment man. Thats why I like having these options for people. I love chiaki but my experience tends to be the opposite where psplay is faster and more stable alot of the time so far. But theres also alot of factors with networks, isp, the console itself, and so on. I highly recommend both for PlayStation streaming and would always try a free option first and go from there.
It depends what settings you have configured with PSPlay, PSPlay offers slightly more options than Chiaki and uses different default settings but if you have configured vulkan decoding+vulkan rendering with a start Bitrate value of 25000 (but depends if your network can handle that) you should get a super crisp and smooth image. Don't get me wrong Chiaki is great I contribute to that project as well but you should not get any worse experience with PSPlay of course, that's why it was in public Beta for several weeks.
I show in the video an internet connection with no port forwarding done on my part. Just using the auto feature in psplay as shown 👍. Doesn’t mean that will work in every network away from home but you have a good chance. My phone hotspot also worked the other day.
I’m playing elden ring on my PlayStation right now but going to be traveling for work soon. Am I able to have Elden ring downloaded on the steam deck and transfer progress back and forth?
I was waiting for this. ive been using the android version quite a bit with the fold 5 but i also have a steam deck and honestly chiaki is a pain. always fails when i try to remote connect to it after an update. anyways take my money again and thx for this. in case you feel like responding. how will updates happen in the future? i don't suppose this'll get put on the discover store or something on the deck?
I was waiting for this as well. Works great and easy setup. Unless in app updates become a thing i believe the update happens on the download site for now
I'm having trouble, when I click on the psplay image it won't give me the option to execute. I can't even send it to steam either I'm confused idk what to do 😢
sooo. how do you bring up the platstation menu with this? ive tried a lot but whenever i try it just asks if i wanna terminate the session and doesnt bring up the playstation home screen
I did all of this and still can’t connect via my iPhone att hotspot. Works locally but gives me PlayStation not reachable when outside of the network. Anyone know the solution?
@many9160 i managed to get mine working in the end. I had to bascially do it within game i had to amend the deck controller set up to be able to copy and paste the link, works now but was a ball ache at the time.
@@dansilverfoxmake sure you are using firefox as your browser. I tried with brave and when i would log in, it would say “can not connect to server”. I played through Spiderman Miles Morales this way. It is the best way to use PS Remote Play as you have a dcent screen size and a Dualsense.

Oh I was just commenting about this exact app on your chiaki video. Yay gonna use this one I already know its better than all other ps remote plays

Chiaki4deck keeps freezing video for me so I'm about to buy this and try it out. $15 though and if it doesn't work are there refunds?
There is a demo and refunds are also possible

@@GameTechPlanet If I stream from Steam to the deck it works perfectly. I bought the license specifically for the PSPlay.
That's a ridiculously large delay. It's most likely caused by something else as I don't have an explanation for such a large delay

Add escape to one of the paddles on the back

Is PSPlay able to send keyboard and mouse inputs via the Deck's Steam Input?
Keyboard Input are supported but not (yet) mouse inputs.
whats the difference with local and remote play
Whether your deck and ps5 are both connected to your home wifi or if your deck is connected over the internet
