Katie could you do a video or a segment on a video about how you keep up the effort on such a climb? I blow out so quickly no matter how “steady” I start yet I see people managing such climbs as this, real or otherwise! Thanks for keeping cycling real!
Have fun! I climbed L’Alpe 30 years ago the morning the Tour went up it.
Catching up on the vids, yes the Alps as there wasn't enough up in the Pyrenees, well it was never going to be anywhere flat.
As much as I enjoyed Zwift, the recent 38% hike in price to £17.99 a month put it out of reach for me. Such a shame 😢
Try bkool, not as social but still very good and much much cheaper
Zwift hasn’t increased prices since 2017 - so if you look at how much things have risen in price in comparison I think it’s fair. For me I get SO much out of it it’s worth it.
a idea for you , applecross to peterhead lighthouse , 200miles , widest part of scotland
I LOVE this idea!!!
That’s sounds PHENOMENAL! I hope you have an amazing time and I can’t wait to watch all of the videos!
Katie, did you mention back along that you had a Safari adventure planned, down the road ?
Careful if it's still in your itinerary. Monkeypox "Plague", new variant "Clade 1b" on the rise. If you are going still, maybe up the Oranginas, mangoes, sushi, dates..... :)
Take care ☀️

Great vlog skinny k so jealous of u going up that amazing climb have the best time Katie
Katie try Estrada Nacional 2 in Portugal, it divides Portugal in half since it’s northern part to its southest part, you will end the trip in Algarve ;)
No way! Anthony and I are flying to Italy tomorrow morning for our honeymoon and plan on heading over to the French alps to watch this stage! We are also riding up. We should definitely catch up!! :)
Nicole that would actually be AMAZING!!!!!! Wooop wooop! Ok message me on Insta and we can arrange x
Need to do ADZ more. No way near your w/kg. Would love to get under 90 mins for first target.
Thankyou so much for chatting to me at Garmin Ride New Forest today. Great to chat to you again. Oh and you most certainly are an inspiration x
Would love to go but it’s along way to come from New Zealand and it’s costly. Hope you enjoy it. Looks fun.
Hi Katie it should be good the race injoy takecare
Love Zwift too ❤️ never tried the Alp d‘Zwift but will give it a try now 🎉
You have to! Take it steady at the start and enjoy the climb
KK...I had signed up for your club as secondary to my Team TFC. I saw that you ride AdZ on first Tuesday, but your recent adventures have postponed the group ride. Are there notificaions?
Have a great time at TdF Femmes avec Zwift. Can't wait for the video. ❤
Can I use this platform even on a Kicker Snap ( tire friction cheap one )?
Hallo Katie,
Wir freuen uns wieder Dich Sonntag zu sehen. Wir fahren 18.8. Alp dHeuz 😃
Viele Grüße
Hope to see you there!
☀️ 🇫🇷
Great news, going to negate any "comedown" after that Epic Pyrenees adventure.
Have a brilliant time, on & off the turbo. Plenty of Orangina etc. I will get round to purchasing that guide eventually, promise.
Maybe next year you might plan a Alp adventure & guide.
Keep smiling amazing Katie :)
❤
🐸
Well maybe a (mini) Alp guide will come sooner than you think 🙃🙃😛
Just been watching the men's marathon, women's tomorrow Katie ! You have the endurance to smash it ! 🥇 Take care x
Hi Katie when is your next Alp Du Zwift ride? I've just joined your club but can't see anything.
Sorry to ask a daft question Katie…I’d like to try and ride the Alp Du Zwift in a group with you, but I can’t find the link? I’ve followed you on Zwift - will it send me an alert when you’re planning to do the ride next?
Hi Katie. “Femme” (singular) and “femmes” (plural) are both pronounced “famm”. A rare irregular pronunciation in French.
Yep that’s how I said it 🙂
Hi Katie. Can I get on zwift if I don’t have a power meter trainer. I just bought myself a Garmin which came with a speed and cadence sensor as well as a heart monitor.
Hi Katie, firstly thank you so much for your inspirational videos and posts. I don’t think you realise how much you motivate and support people. I am very grateful. Ordered my Zwift ride set up yesterday, it arrived today. Amazing huh. I’ve unboxed it all ready for tomorrow to set it up. I really hope it’s easy to do this. I’m, fat, fifty and it’s time to change that. I got myself a road bike too and am going to embrace the hills of Tyne and Wear on my commute to work. Looking forward to riding on Zwift with you and the people in your group hopefully soon. Thanks for being you. Xxx
Woohoooo happy Zwift day! Well if you need help with anything… this should cover it. I did a whole series on Zwift for beginners including set up and first rides. I hope this helps….

@@KatieKookaburrayippee, thank you. I will follow that. Much appreciated. X
Stuck at 75 mins. I need more work with the knife & fork i think.
Alpe du Zwift is a GPS accurate replication of the real climb. It's NOT an accurate replica of the actual climb.
Are you doing the Garmin Ride this weekend?
Sure am!! See you there :) come say hello
Look forward to seeing you there, weather forecast looks perfect! 🌞🚴😎
Some rubbish hotels in Bourg dOisins or used to be.
I'm not super fussy but I turned two of them down years ago.
Really?! I’ve booked one that looks pretty good - but I’m happy with a bed and somewhere to keep my bike so easily pleased :)
@@KatieKookaburra
There's a very overlooked route in that area close to Bourg if you have the time and energy.
Go east from Bourg on straight road with river on right and turn right after 1k or so.
This is a dead end road with high mts to the left and a glacial gorge river to the right all after a bit of climbing to keep you honest.😂
Katie your magic 3.3w/kg on zwift is made in not an aerodynamic position on the bike, so in real life you will have significant losses in overcoming air resistance, because it is not always the case that you have the wind at your back, so these virtual rides do not make much sense 🖐
Virtual rides give you the training to sit climbing at a set pace for a set period. Not many climbs you can do that in the UK. Best fitness I have is after training on Zwift love it so much :)
@@KatieKookaburra It doesn't matter whether you conquer a mountain peak on Zwift at 200W at a runner's pace or less, or ride many kilometers on a flat surface in windless weather with an avg speed of about 40 km/h, because the power needed will be similar, depending on the cyclist, their weight, or dimensions, i.e. height, shoulder width, weight is just not as important on a flat surface 🤣 Today I had almost 500m of elevation gain over a distance of about 34km, with a few flat sections, almost 50km/h speed on descents but within 1h, I do not use an accurate power meter at all, only a Sigma BC 23.16 STS meter with barometric altitude and heart rate measurement, I constantly update my weight of 80kg, which at a height of almost 180cm gives me an almost perfect BMI, I do not use Zwift at all, because it does not matter, it is enough to ride at a speed above 40km/h on a flat surface instead of climbing steep slopes at a turtle's pace ⌚
Back to the Alps and TDFFaZ … that’s going to be loads of fun … looking forward to it! 🚴♂️⛰️🍊😄 PS: I was watching an Olympics recap on CBC and they had a report about Canadian athletes doing maple syrup shots before an event! Who knew … that magic elixir used by Olympians and a certain cyclist we all know on Zwift! Cheers! 🍁
