I loved “Santa clause the movie” me an my little brother rented it so many times from the library . We ended up just buying it from them. Still have the vhs somewhere . We watched it over an over more times than I can count
According to the Star Wars Holiday Special, Chewbacca spends years of his life abandoning his wife, son, and father to go flying around the galaxy getting into loads of trouble with some mafia affiliated smuggler named Han Solo. Solid father figure there.
No! NO! *NO! **_NO!_* I will _not_ accept a bad word said about _'Santa Claus: The Movie'!_ I have loved that movie since it’s release, and have loyally watched it *EVERY CHRISTMAS EVE,* ever since!
I didn't say bad I said weird. It appears they edited out my comments about letting Lithgow die slowly in space (spoilers I guess) but I love the flick. It even has the dwarf from Hawk the Slayer in it.
One of the weirdest darkest Christmas episodes ever was on the UK comedy "The Goodies". The Goodies are celebrating Christmas Eve, only to find out the world will blow up at midnight. The rest of the episode is them reflecting on life, death and trying to squeeze one last Christmas in before midnight. It is both dark and funny.
I love "The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus." It is by far my favorite Rankin-Bass holiday cartoon. In a similar, but non-holiday vein, there is a 1985 claymation movie called "The Adventure of Mark Twain" staring Tom Sawyer, Huck Finn, and Becky Thatcher stowing away on Samuel Clemen's airship as he tries to meet up with Haley's Comet.
The reason why Mark is wearing tons of makeup is because he had been in a motorcycle accident and had to have work done on his face. It was still healing and they had to really cake on the makeup to help cover up what happened.
One of the weirdest I remember was the Bill n’ Opus cartoon, A Wish for Wings That Work. It was chock full of weirdness, such as Opus (a penguin) going to a support group for flightless birds, Robin Williams (working under a pseudonym) voicing a distraught kiwi divorcee screaming lines like “Suck up an albatross!” and Dustin Hoffman playing a cross-dressing cockroach. There’s a running gag where Opus’ butt keeps falling off. There’s a trio of ducks that talk like the Three Stooges for no apparent reason. In the end, Opus rescues Santa from drowning. Because he’s a penguin. It’s funny, but, man is it strange.
I love Santa Clause the Movie, but man is it weird! The beginning is a magical fairy tale about a man and his wife who DIE in a blizzard, only to be resurrected into Santa! But seriously, the sets, the storytelling, etc. is magical and whimsical... and then the 2nd half is a bizarre 1980's fever dream. Of course I watched it over and over as a kid, lol.
Thanks for making this - it brought back so many memories. The Star Wars special is so bad I've never been able to watch it in one sitting. I remember seeing most of these growing up. I was just old enough to dodge the TMNT one. Those concert style costumes were weird - I always thought they looked bad when compared to the movie versions. I still might have a McDonalds / Santa Clause the Movie book somewhere. They gave them away with Happy Meals or sold them as a movie promotion. I remember it was suppose to be a big hit and so far as I recall it flopped hard. It was so bad.
I thought Elmo Saves Christmas was pretty weird. I guess mainly because it wasn't a take-off on A Christmas Carol, It's a Wonderful Life, or Gift of the Magi. And it takes a pretty daring look at what the world might be like if it literally became Christmas every day. Pretty deep stuff for the Sesame Street crown to process, but overall pretty well done.
I absolutely LOVE Smokey Mountain Christmas & had to record it on VHS because I couldn't find it. I still watch it every year. It's on RUclips but the quality isn't that great. I grew up watching Santa Clause the Movie. Love the song during the credits & that is the best santa in any movie. It's underrated & seems to be forgotten.
the animated The Nanny christmas special is nuts, and a classic, majority of SOUTH PARK Christmas specials, Mark Hamill as in a car accident and had facial reconstructive surgery, he was coated/masked in makeup to hide scars, bruising. they should have waited to do the special or not done it at all, but, it's legendary for all wrong reasons, and, 1 fun challenge to sit through
That's not a bell Jim Carey's Scrooge was holding on to. That's a candle douser. It's a metal device for quickly putting out candles without blowing them out. It's because the Ghost of Christmas past is a giant candle flame.
The Life and adventures of Santa is one of my favorite Christmas cartoons. Different, sure but that is it's strength. Santa Claus The movie is my all time favorite Santa movie or show. David Huddleston is the best portrayal of Santa
How in the world ‘Santa Clause the Movie’ made this list, I’ll never know. I grew up watching it, and still do every Christmas. I don’t see anything weird about it. If anything, Tim Allen’s The Santa Clause is 100 times weirder.
Us Brits do enjoy a scary story at Christmas time. Mark Gattis has made a series of shorts of classic-era horror stories that are shown on the BBC every Christmas Eve. It's a family tradition in our house. Would be worth a Joblo video.
Do you know about the Christmas movie directed by the Godfather of Gore, Hershel Gordon Lewis himself? The title is "Santa Visits The Wonderful World of Mother Goose".
Yes. It is told in the Book of Craig that on the night his brother was born, so too were He-Man and She-Ra. Orko is actually Jesus in disguise. He likes to be a little prankster during his down time.
I watch the star wars christmas special when it first came out cause I loved star wars. I just watch the original 3 star wars and they us the line "I have a bad feeling about this" like a billion times, I wonder if they said that while doing the special or if it is in the special.🤣🤣🤣🤣
I almost stopped watching when you said you liked Jim Carrey's "Grinch," because I usually discount the opinions of anyone who likes that unholy abomination, but...I'm glad I kept watching. This was pretty entertaining in spite of that.
WOW!!!!!! Cartoon Han looks like they took DNA from Adam Driver, Donald Trump and Mick Jagger and made a baby. I have watched all of these except "Mr T's Christmas." I love "Christmas Comes To Pacland" such an underrated gem.
I don’t for the life of me remember the name of the movie but this girls dad is dating a mannequin who’s come to life that he doesn’t know is a mannequin and it’s set at Christmas and I think at one point another alive mannequin Santa is hit by a car
I loved “Santa clause the movie” me an my little brother rented it so many times from the library . We ended up just buying it from them. Still have the vhs somewhere . We watched it over an over more times than I can count
What did you like most about it?
Still got my VHS copy!
Santa Clause the Movie is iconic and still my favorite holiday movie.
Thank You for the List and Video 😀
According to the Star Wars Holiday Special, Chewbacca spends years of his life abandoning his wife, son, and father to go flying around the galaxy getting into loads of trouble with some mafia affiliated smuggler named Han Solo. Solid father figure there.
I remember a TV special called the greatest Christmas Pageant . It had Loretta Swit and Fairuza Balk. It was shot like a Christmas story.
Is that the one where Jamie Farr is a 1000 foot guy tall Easter Bunny that steps on Carol Channing?
I like Santa Claus The Movie! Then again, ive been called weird my whole life. Go figure 😂
We're all pretty weird here so you're in good company.
@@JoBloOriginals 😊💯
Man, the 80's were crazy.
As a diehard MSTie, I love to watch SANTA CLAUS CONQUERS THE MARTIANS every December... until Droppo shows up and I regret it.
How dare you? Jim Carrey’s A CHRISTMAS CAROL is the most faithful adaptation of Charles Dickens’ book ever made and an instant classic to me!
Yes especially the part where Scrooge shrinks down super small and is chased by rats. Which chapter is that again?
@@doctorbob6791 I don’t know.
You must not have seen the rambling incoherent mess that is Santa Claus and the Ice Cream Bunny.

@@JessicaDwyer ok, fair 🥰❤️
Okay, I’ve just got to know, is our wonderful host Jessica wearing orthodontic headgear?
To this day I celebrate Christmas 2 every year thanks to John Lithgow in Santa Claus: The Movie.
The goodies is one of the best comedies of all time
Yeah that ep is dark and funny
This description reminds me of the last ep of Blackadder.

Star Wars Holiday Special 😆😳
😂😊An absolute classic Star Wars special still all these years later !. Lots of harmless fun and entertainment !!.........
How can you call “Santa Claus: the Movie” weird? It’s very dated, sure. But it’s a classic!
Santa T? San-T Claus is right there.
Santa Clause the movie was great.
I bought the 4K BluRay when it was released recently.
The reason why Mark is wearing tons of makeup is because he had been in a motorcycle accident and had to have work done on his face. It was still healing and they had to really cake on the makeup to help cover up what happened.
All the more reason to rush out a Christmas special and make him have to do that. Poor Mark.
One of the weirdest I remember was the Bill n’ Opus cartoon, A Wish for Wings That Work. You missed Santa's Christmas Circus staring Wizzo the Clown. I dare you to watch it and not think, This is the weirdest thing ever."
The Life And Adventures Of Santa was always my favorite and wasn't shown often enough! If I could find it on DVD I would definitely buy it!
I love Santa Clause the Movie, but man is it weird! The beginning is a magical fairy tale about a man and his wife who DIE in a blizzard, only to be resurrected into Santa! Pee Wee's "DUH" is the greatest in history
Oh talk about Missed Opportunities. In A Christmas Dream, they should have called him San T Clause.
I just recently watched the Star Wars Holiday Special and man, that was a weird special. Even Mark Hamil had bad memories watching the special.
Great list! I've seen some of these weird holiday movies myself and they're ok with me, Merry Christmas!
Jack Frost: He's chillin...and killin'
I read that Carrie Fisher would put the Star Wars Holiday Special on when she wanted people to leave her house.
Anyone who says any single Star Wars movie in the last 7 years is worse than the Holiday Special is either crazy, or hasn't seen it.
I have seen the star wars holiday special 62 times on RUclips 😊

The Jim Carrey Christmas Carol movie has characters as creepy looking as in Jim Carrey's Grinch.
I like that Christmas Carol movie but my wife (who is a teacher) doesn’t show it to her students.
the animated The Nanny christmas special is nuts, and a classic, majority of SOUTH PARK Christmas specials, Mark Hamill as in a car accident and had facial reconstructive surgery, he was coated/masked in makeup to hide scars, bruising. they should have waited to do the special or not done it at all, but, it's legendary for all wrong reasons, and, 1 fun challenge to sit through
Yeah - this is also why Mark/Luke got hit by the Wampa in ESB - so he'd have an in universe reason for the scars.
Santa Claus the Movie is my favorite Santa movie.
Christmas with Pee Wee was a wild time… wonder if my parents watched it with me
1:09 I really liked this version
I think we all knew in advance what would be in the #1 spot.
Without having seen the whole video yet, is it the Star Wars Holiday special?? It's gotta be
I love the He-Man and She-Ra Christmas special

I remember seeing commercials for Santa Ckaus Cinquers the Martians on TV. Even at a very young age I thought it sounded wierd.
The munsters scary little Christmas.lol.
Us Brits do enjoy a scary story at Christmas time. Mark Gattis has made a series of shorts of classic-era horror stories that are shown on the BBC every Christmas Eve. It's a family tradition in our house. Would be worth a Joblo video.
I love these. Sir Christopher Lee used to host a series of them as MR James. Gattis did one I think 2 years ago with Peter Capaldi in it.
As bad as the Star Wars Holiday Special is, it's still better than the Disney Star Wars movies.
Well, if your upset about the missed opportunity for "Joline", Araki heard you and named one of the Jojo's after her.
