There are so many types of things that you can use as sound dampeners, so it's up to your preference.

Man it sounds really good. Those mods are really worth it
Yeah they are :D
@Linkerov ruclips.net/video/G2Fs95R-t-k/видео.html
Please check the shape of the switches here. I guess you are right but not sure though.
@Linkerov holy pandas, on sale rn if you pre-order from Massdrop,
@@johntitor1054 cant use regular switches on an optical board
@@3ildcat would you recommend this keyboard or the Anne pro 2?
Here are some tips from somebody who made this keeb -
Skyloong changed how the keyboard is built, they made the cases bottom smaller as to eliminate empty sounds, therefore a smaller dampening foam than 5mm is preferred.
1) When taking apart the board, the Gateron Optical logo goes down, this comes in later
2) Of course, when using a switch opener, push, but don't push after it opens, it will break the clips. (didn't happen to me, but I could see how it would to others.)
3) When Taking apart and greasing stabs, the new stabilizers don't go up and down on the new model, they lay flat until the key cap is inserted onto them.
4) When lubing the switches, the bag technique is good, but I would suggest not putting your Krytox on a sticky note, accidents can happen a lot and it can also be a huge waste. If you get Krytox from kebo, they provide a small brush that is perfect for dipping.
5) When adding foam, put thinner than you think. Since Skyloong changed the depth of the keyboard, if you put too much, the screws holding the PCB won't screw in and the charge port will be pushed too far down to move.
6) When putting the switches back together, the small window bump on the upper clear housing of the switch goes over the open window end on the bottom housing.
7) When lubing and filming, take your time. As a perfectionist, when the switches sounded different I took the ones that didn't sound the same out, re-lubed and re-filmed them, not super fun. But definitely worth it.
8) I've recently found out that the stabilizers make the keycaps that have them rattle uncontrollably, I tried regreasing the stabs, putting bandaid underneath, closing stab gaps, and making the fit tighter but it still has a very bad rattle. If anyone has any other ideas id love to hear
And of course, have a nice tidy workspace and put some music on : ) always better to have fun doing it than dread it!
@KB Tech of course!
Dude thank you so much for this comment I ordered this keyboard a couple days ago and this comment is a lifesaver. Appreciate it!
@@zainsalas8482 You're welcome!! I thought it would be helpful to know these things and I'm glaf you found this comment, good luck : )
Have you tried checking if one of the stab sliders are same size and if not then that may be an issue
@@SuniL._ yeah i took them apart, measured and straightened them. Pretty sure they are just bad stabs and others work better
can we talk about how when he was pulling the keycaps out they were on beat?!

I wish there was a guy like you here in my place whom we can pay to customize and lube keyboards here for everybody.
Taeha Types, go search him up. He does exactly that
auexabyte yeah for $1800
@@AegisReflector yeah he makes the luxury keyboards bruh that's worth more than my entire setup.
@@AegisReflector not just that he does make cheaper ones haha
just do it yourself, it's fun and not that hard
pls do more of these prebuilt modding vids
If I have a chance like this board. :)

omg how you pulled the caps in sync of the beat.. love the style of your vids
by editing. lol Thanks!
@@3ildcat sure because of editing - but it was a nice way to do so
@@whyumettbro687 his intro is so awesome aye! he has that in every video and it's so sick
for a channel with only 2k subs the editing on these video's is amazing, hope it takes you further :)
Thank you so much. :D
Well he’s at almost 10k subs now.... so these greats videos are definitely getting noticed
almost 50k now!
@@matheus300396 that's some crazy channel growth 👍
Already at 60k you will definitely reach 100k in no time :>
from plasticy clack to shuffling soft wooden blocks in your hand. man that's insane.
plasticy clack to plasticky clack with a side of thock
Damn I need to get into this. Sounds so much cleaner after the mods. My Rk61 arrives in 1 or 2 weeks maybe I‘ll practice on my old keyboard first:D
You can’t do this with rk61 because its not hot-swappable
Finally! One of your showcased keyboard I can afford buying...

oh yeah yeah it kinda does tho

dude your videos are really amazing. I like how the music and the removing of the keycaps at the start of the video are in sync. I see the effort you put into this and I really appreciate that a lot
Thank you for catching my effort for this and your support!!!
This vids give me chills i swear i would do anything to type on this keyboard
Next video: desoldering microphone...
Lol
@@3ildcat When i was modding my sk61, they changed the location of the microphone when I was putting foam inside it so they actually upgraded it.
okay this is ridiculous... you should have more subscribers - the quality/production of your videos are just beautiful + the board sounds so creamy and chocolatey, i love it.
Thank you so much, Danny!
8:34 - holy s***
I have gateron optical keyboard so ima try this
pandas*
I did exactly the same mod as in the video for my GK61P and it sounded and felt so great now. Thank you again for the great video and keep it up! 감사합니다!!!!
Really glad that you did nicely!! My pleasure!! :3
You should do sound test after every mod so we can know what mods change the sound in which way
@alex just clicks What?
Doing the same thing to mine. I'm waiting on the lube, switch films and new springs, but I already tuned the stabilisers and added craft foam to the bottom of the case. Saying that, I couldn't get a good sound out of the stock stabilisers, so I used genuine Cherry inserts and wires to minimise the rattle. I also did the band-aid mod. The large keys now sound like dense wood - I cannot wait to mod it further!
Nice! and good luck!
@@3ildcat Thanks! Do you know how I could get this in a Tofu case? I'm aware I'd have to get a new plate, but that's all I know. If you could help me, I'd really appreciate it!
@@jordanwalker9289 Guessing from the screw positions, I don't think they are compatible.. but not sure.
Check well the online pictures before you get.
@@3ildcat Ah, well thanks anyway. One more thing though -- do you know how I can get the horizontol rainbow wave profile back? I must have deleted it, as I cannot find it in the software.
@@3ildcat Hi :3ildcat - I can confirm that the version of the SK61 that I have is in fact compatible with the TOFU case! The PCB and plate fit just fine. The best part is that the PCB can still be screwed to the plate, which is kind of needed for the optical switches.
I'm not sure I'm going to keep using these switches though. I lubed and filmed them, but there's a strange event at the bottom of the travel for some, if not most of the keys.. it almost feels like a tactile bump. I'm waiting on some Gateron KS-9 Yellows and a HS60 PCB to use in this Tofu case.
When they didn't take out the stabilizers I was so confused
I like how when you pulled the keycaps out it was in beat with the song, what a legend
mmmm... so buttery smooth. great mod :D
Finally, a lo-fi music video worthy for watching!
keyboard be like: "mmmmmmmmm mmmmmm mmmmmmm, xxxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxx xxxx xxxxxxx"
I genuinely cant stop watching this video. I bought lube and everything ready to mod my sk64 and I'm in disbelief that my keyboard could sound like that with enough mods.
*everybody gangsta until he starts typing in Korean*

@@justinphomar wildcat’s a dude
the music at the beginning was PERFECTLY synced
That's how I exactly lube noncustoms (I am talking about the moment at the beggining)
You mean what Lego mini figure doing? Lol
@@3ildcat yeah ... :'D
Absolutely love the new sound on the keyboard after the lube. It was horrible prior and now it's an Asmr's dream!!
Are those Syryan springs only known in the Korean keyboard community? I've never heard of them before. Are they nice?
Yes. My friend gave me and it's hard to find anyone uses. I use them just for 65g spring force, I think better than stock ones. :)
Man, hearing how it types after the mods is like listening to someone type on marble... if that's possible... sounds great!
Nice mods, it sounds amazing. I'm planning to do something similar with the optical GK61 I got ridiculously cheap. Can I ask how much the switch films affect the sound with these switches/how loose and wobbly the top housing is? I am planning to buy some more films from TX because I'm out but wondering if it's worth getting more for the optical switches.
Thanks!
You can check how the film works here Walker's video. ruclips.net/video/ndT_TTQLflI/видео.html
For holy pandas or creams, films are not needed but for gaterons, I think they are essential.
I recently got this exact keyboard (with blue switches) and went through this whole process with it and it's now my favourite keyboard. It feels so smooth and sounds satisfying as all hell. Thank you for this!
Nice :3
It sounds just sooo good ToT !
Do you think I could do the same on my keyboard ? (sounds like a dumb question but I'm kinda new to all of this stuff !) I have a Glorious GMMK TKL keyboard with Gateron Clear. I really wish it could sound a bit better, even thought I kinda wanted to get a new keyboard but I can't manage to find ISO ones >~> being french in this community is not the easiest xD
Thanks!
Your keyboard is hot swappable so I think you can do the same things and will get better sounds as well. :D
@@3ildcat Ooooh I wanna do it then ! o:
I was planning on picking a deskpad on novelkeys, which lube should I pick ? (just saw krytox 105 for springs but there's not that one on novelkeys ;w;)
Nuage try switchmod for lube
I just did this project (+added switch films) and the results were equally spectacular. I will say though that it was a lot more work than I expected. You make this look easy wildcat!
Nice!!
Actually, the work on this keyboard is much easier than other build. XD
Repeat every other week for best results
omg I can't
Idk why but i really enjoy people fixing and modding stuff

This keyboard is one of my listen keyboards everyday
just bought this keyboard and im scheduled to send it out for modding on friday!! they're going to mod it like this plus add foam. im so excited
Thanks a lot, stay healthy and keep uploading. We are waiting for your next video
Thank you, you too!!
Dude, your videos are really eye-catching. Keep up the good work!
Thanks bro!
everything is synced woth the music and I love it
I bought this exact keyboard (Though I think they're gateron browns... hope that's not too different) and didn't realise how terribly loud it is. Thanks for this. I'll try to emulate. It looks like a lot of effort, but my main concern was a lack of result. You've answered that concern in this vid. Thanks!
for those wondering, the microphone is there under the spacebar as part of a lighting mode where it detects your voice and the level of the light rises depending on how loud or quiet you are.
You are making better sounds than some ASMrist , i watch your video as a sleep helper, thank you for your great work.
The amount of pre-lub in those stabs had me shivering.
just got this to copy ur mods but honestly it sounds so good out of the box !!! i may mod it in a few mos tho, but thanks for the inspo
man i love how you take your time to make all these things, i mean it takes alot of time
Thanks!
I like how you mod the keyboard in a proper way
Your videos are just in another lever, the quality of the editing and video are just AMAZING, you deserve way more than you have, and you will get there buddy.
Thank you so much for your kind words! XD
He has grown so much in just a year!
I plan to mod this keyboard, I received it today all I got to do is rewatch this video like 100 times so it's embedded into my head lol

Thank you so much :D
The sound that came from the stock one is just memories for me and that’s why I prefer it
I just got this keyboard prior to discovering your channel and I can't wait to mod mine as well! It sounds great!
Good luck and have fun!
@@3ildcat thanks :)
I keep watching these vids and can't get enough. I'm completely new to mechanical keyboards and its gonna be hell spending a ton of money on different switches before I find what I like. I was about to buy Wooting One before I realized its was optical switches only and not regular MX compatible. You make good visual aids to help mod keebs, I def need something quiet, or I'm gonna get divorced.
Thanks for this video, i have just done the things that you've have done to my SK61 and what a game changer :)
Nice!
Idk why this is so soothing to watch
i love these upgrade from prebuilt videos
Your editing style is so clean, I'm so glad I found this channel. Great keeb content & clean editing all in one
Thanks :)
Switch filming and foam is nice and all, but the real difference comes from lubing the switches and stabs.
I've heard the stock stabs are really good on the SK61, maybe it differs from time to time. Hoping mine will sound good, but I can always mod it.
so smooth!!!!you like a professional filmmaker!!!!!!
you know what would help, if you WOULDNT FAST FOWARD WHEN U GET TO LUBING STABLE LIZERS
Come long way since 2k!
I have two GK61s and 2 Logitech G305 mice in black. I feel like you're my Bizzaro twin in this video.
This video is just too good
Ur just too talented my G !!
The before and after was insane
Also editing on point !!
Thank you 🙌
Very nice sound after the mods!
I just got my rk61 it's my first mech. Definitely will try this in the future 👍
Good luck!
Whats the thickness of the switch films? 🤔 Great video btw!
To me the main problem with the optical keyboards is that they sound louder and hollow, but once you put a nice thick foam below the PCB it's pretty good.
Great quality video wildcat ! Also that change after mods really impressed me this time o_o
Thank you, Nabuna ^o^
the animation at the start was cool
I'm not sure why but I assumed that my current board with gateron optical red switches wouldn't be moddable. Well, after seeing this video and looking at my Krytox on my desk, I'm going to have a fun project ahead of me for the rest of the day.
Good luck :3

AAAAARR WHAT A NOSTALGIC SOUND!!
highly recommend also trying out the gateron optical blacks on this keyboard, little bit of a smoother linear feel
I swear out of all key switches, Optical Mechanical Switches lubed has a different type of thocc sound to it!
I scrolled really fast for 4 minutes and couldn’t even find a single comment not hearted by :3ildcat. What an absolute legend.
the mic you saw on it isn't anything to worry about it actually is a rgb mode on the sk61 where the louder the sound the sound the more rgb
Wow that improvement is really stark! Good job!
Thanks :D
I’m about to mod my SK61, definitely using this video
Im pulling out the switches on mine. Was this super hard to pull out for you ?

Such a good and high quality video. Keep it up man
