Was living in Aliso Village from 1982 to 1989. Lived on Via Portola - Al Capone territory. No color divide - though I do remember the Friday night fights near Utah street school. I remember Indio from Al Capone would fight fools, left and right. No problems after - just get along with each other. I remember some East Coast Crip members had nice Caddis on Dayton wire wheels (yes they rolled with the spares in the trunk). The hood was crazy bad in the day - I survived Aliso Village.

Listening to some of this interview brings back memories for my own experience growing up, Going to school to eat, I would not wait for all my friends many times to walk to school because of being hungry, and Adults can see when children need extra help, i would have many families in the apartments bring me in and feed me, i think they new that my mom working and drinking did not have time to Cook us kids food. So there may be a snack or bread and meat for a sandwich, but the adults new, there were very few Cooked meals for us, BUt i can say, my mom did bring Pizza or Subs on Fridays. And cooked spaghetti on a Friday or Saturday.
