When I was 18 I joined the Army to try and toughen up. I was the Worst at everything from making my bed to shining my shoes. I got alot of shit from my platoon. I worked harder than everybody. I never fell out of a run and eventually went from the worst guy there to getting promoted by my drill sergeant. I will never forget it.

@Comment Expert you are contradicting yourself. you said " You are your god" but later "And RIGHT NOW. hate is winning. Prove me otherwise." you have a good insight > you are your god ---but now, as gods do, create your own reality full of love. Do me a favour, tommorow when you leave your house, adjust your mind and feelings, focus more on nice things, nice people, flavours, scents, --- act like an alien who is observing like an explorer and cant be really bothered. Try to avoid energy vampires. Try it every Day a little bit more for some days. that can be fun and insightful. if you really going to try this it would be nice to hear from you if you had fun or if somethings changed or nothing changed at all. Me and my wife are, so to speak, some kind of modern shamans and have many many funny, cool and sometimes very demanding or even spooky lessons that are very easy to implement in everybodys life. So if you mean it serious "you are your god" than start tommorow, dont. I only wrote this because i do not accept "And RIGHT NOW. hate is winning. " and you should´nt accept it to. Because you are a god, but maybe you want Hate to win. Peace

@Comment Expert Jesus performed super many miracles, and all of these miracles were questioned by non-believing SCIENTISTS just like you do, dear friend.
But when these non-believing scientists started to do a lot of experiments on the miracles, USING THE LATEST SCIENTIFIC METHODS AVAILABLE, they found out that they were true. All of these proofs are in the records in the Vatican Libraries with the NAMES OF THE NON-BELIEVING SCIENTISTS and the dates of their experiments FOR ALL PEOPLES TO VERIFY.
But even if you cannot go to the Vatican Libraries in Rome, Italy, think about these for a second. Thousands of the CONVERTS, a FEW YEARS after Jesus went back to Heaven, most of them Jews and ROMAN SOLDIERS AND CITIZENS, were willing to die rather than deny their faith in God. WERE THESE CONVERTS SUPER CRAZY to endure THE MOST PAINFUL TORTURE AND DEATH rather than renounce their FAITH in God and go free?
While it is understandable for many Jews to be converted to the Faith by the ORIGINAL APOSTLES AND THEIR STUDENTS AND SUCCESSORS, it seems UNLIKELY THAT ROMAN SOLDIERS AND CITIZENS would CONVERT from their BELIEF IN MANY GODS, to the Catholic Faith in Jesus.
What converted these ROMANS was when they witnessed so many Catholic Jews who were INUMANLY TORTURED AND then FED to the HUNGRY LIONS, and while the lions. that were PURPOSELY MADE HUNGRY FOR WEEKS, were eating these Catholic Jews, PIECE AFTER PIECE, the converts were SINGING and did NOT FEEL ANY PAIN. Those stories were WRITTEN ON PAPYRUS MANUSCRIPTS (that are super long-lasting) by THOUSANDS OF WITNESSES, as the LION FEEDING of CONVERTS were all done in THE ROMAN COLISEUM (something like an NFL STADIUM). These manuscripts were discovered by the SCIENTISTS who were ARCHEOLOGISTS mostly, but not exclusively, in the CATACOMBS and have been COMPLIED and PRESERVED in the Vatican Libraries FOR MANY NON-BELIEVING SCIENTISTS TO INSPECT as to how old the MANUSCRIPTS are.
The methods utilized by these non-believing scientists are known as CARBON DATING, which is SUPER, SUPER ACCURATE, so much so that Carbon Dating can even tell how old a CAVE MAN'S (the EARLIEST HUMANS during the Dinosaur times, which are MILLION OF YEARS OLD or later) DRAWINGS are.
Read about the miracle of Lanciano, and many other SCIENTIFICALLY PROVEN MIRACLES. Most of them MIGHT BE AVAILABLE ONLINE, if not, buy books about these miracles.
At the end of it all, if THESE SCIENTIFICALLY PROVEN PROOFS still don't make you believe, I RESPECT THAT TOTALLY FRIEND.
But think about this, friend. This life on earth is short, even if you live to be 779 YEARS OLD. Jesus promised TO THOSE who believe in Him that they will enjoy NON-ENDING LIFE in PERFECT, NON-STOP HAPPINESS and PERFECT LOVE.
What if all of these promises made by God the Son, Jesus, ARE TRUE? When you die, as all of us will die, and you stand before the God Who is TRUE after all, asks you why you did NOT BELIEVE in Him, after all the SACRIFICES that His Son Jesus made, and with all the TONS of PROOFS that have been VERIFIED BY FORMERLY non-believing SCIENTISTS, have been MADE AVAILABLE for ALL PEOPLES TO INVESTIGATE, how are YOU GOING TO ANSWER GOD?
Remember, Hell is real, a place of non-top suffering, where non-believers go, while Heaven, is REAL, and is the place of non-stop HAPPINESS AND LOVE, where believers go. What if all these are REAL? ARE YOU WILLING TO BET your chance of being PERFECTLY HAPPY AND LOVED for your UNBELIEF?
REMEMBER that your belief in the NON-EXISTENCE of God also NEEDS TO BE PROVEN to all readers of this ISSUE. WHAT ARE YOUR SCIENTIFICALLY VERIFIABLE PROOFS? Again, I will RESPECT IF YOU STILL WON'T BELIEVE in God. And I will pray for you, that you will be happy and loved after you die. God bless us all.

    1. You are your own Hero
    2. You are your own Leader
    3. You are your own Master
We idolise so many people and we want to be them we want to be someone else and in doing that you lose all the potential of who you are. You must hold yourself accountable for being your hero. You make so totally accountable for who you are. You focus on you and only on yourself to become the best person you can be for others. Because we leave a lot on the table not searching for who we are, you die not knowing your greatest potential.

That’s truth. I’ve seen a lot of people destroyed by believing they’re a victim. It’s easy to believe because it’s true. Everyone has been a victim but you can stop being a victim as soon as you rid yourself of that mentality. Let go of that victim hood and looking for it to be made right, it never will be and you’re wasting life and your potential still being that victim

Yes so much to this! I played victim like an idiot for most of my late teens into my mid twenties. I’m so happy I’ve finally left all that behind. My mom did the same thing most of her life. We are changing together. It did nothing for her I have realized that. And she’s realized it too! So happy we are on the road of breaking down and analyzing ourselves and seeing maybe we are wrong in certain things and acknowledge it all and fix it.

@@lopez8872 That takes a lot of strength and courage to do. Climbing out of that pit of despair is seriously an impressive thing worthy of a lot of acknowledgement, hopefully by yourself each day.
I, too, have had people very close to me trapped in their victimhood. Sadly, they’re still there through what I always assumed was fear or weakness, but am beginning to see more as their own malevolence. It’s difficult to accept that some don’t want “better” because they get joy from their sadness and that if other’s despair. They’ve chosen their side and the only thing you having further contact with them will do is drag you over to their mentality rather than you helping them in any way at all. You resent them because they crush your spirit in one final way: making you come to terms with the fact that you can’t help some people, no matter how much you try.

@@JA-oo9qp I know for me and for a lot of people I know who operate under victim hood (I live in Portland, believe me, I see victim hood like I wouldn’t believe, it’s a social club here) it’s 100% about attention! It’s usually people who have zero social skills or love for them selfs and playing victim is the only way we know how to garner attention and feel superior in some fucked up freudian way. Like ,” I’m so weak and damaged how dare people EVER look at me funny”. Or how dare you not give me the rite of way on the side walk!!! Or silly little things like that. There’s posters on every lamp pole talking about how marginalized us ‘ Middle class white folks’ are and how we don’t have an answer to fix things but let’s tear it all down and it will fix it’s self. This is young angst unchecked. This is what happens when you pick sobriety and u have to deal with your changing perspective of the world. His mastery, the fact that he rose above his circumstances despite the awesome difficulty of doing so, makes him 'definitively' a guiding light. Howes does seem to inspire a good conversation.

The best thing that ever happened to me was going bankrupt in the financial crisis of 2008. I lost my business, I lost my wife and even lost my dog. I found myself homeless with a budget of $1 a day for food. I slept in my truck and showered at the YMCA. I was 42 years old.
I decided that I would teach myself electronics and scoured electrical junk yards to look for things I could take apart to try to figure out how things worked. It took me 18 months to go from knowing zero to having bands like Aerosmith, Beyonce and Miley Cyrus using the preamps and processors I designed and built by hand in a tiny storage shed.
I worked tirelessly until I had worldwide distribution and my own factory line. The things I designed were turned into software and is used on nearly everything you see on tv, in the movies, in music and in video games.
Like David, I come from a military background and am one of the oldest people to have ever been commissioned an officer in the US Army. I had to have 2 senatorial age waivers and went through very difficult training being older than many of the trainers and evaluation staff.

LOVE THIS! I went through 13 yrs of feeling like I was slowly being burned alive due to neurological conditions (diagnosed with MS and chronic shingles). I studied and researched and pressed in until I found something that got the chronic shingles under control. The rest I treat with neuroplasticity. I wrote two books with my children (for my children because I wasn't sure at several points if I would live). I now am back in college and have five awesome kids. I would not give up and look back at our struggles as blessings because they have shaped us in ways that nothing else could. I will forever be a life long learner/researcher. I just pray that my insights would be able to help someone else and push to never give in...never give up! You are harder, stronger and more capable than you know when you commit to overcoming...

God.. I've been in tears throughout almost this entire interview... This man is so powerfully real and cuts right to the core.
I've been a coward for far too long.. hiding from the world in my own head and in my art... I can't take that shit anymore.
My life has been... interesting.... my childhood.. had a similar effect on me as David's (though I am, most definitely no where near as badass)...
and I've had this intense feeling like I'm supposed to share my experience with the world... but I've been too terrified to do so..
because no matter how hard I try or how much I accomplish... It's never enough... I always still feel like a failure, that couldn't possibly add any value to this world..
And I know that's insane... but it doesn't change how true it feels. But David's reminded me that there really is only one way through that... face it head on. Go forward anyways.
So I guess now I will still be afraid.. and probably still be a failure... but I'm going to do it anyways... and see this journey through to the end.
[lets out a deep breath] ... Thanks for the therapy session RUclips ;)
