Whoever cut and produced this edit knew what they were doing. Think about it: this was 1981. There were no computers in studios, no editing software, no transposing from one track to another with automatic fading...... this was still "cut tape at this exact spot on this reel and cut tape at this exact spot on that reel and tape them together precisely and if you are off by a millimeter the whole thing is trash" era. Completely seamless editing and cross fading between songs with no loss of tempo, pitch, or continuation. It's a brilliant work of editing.

The Beach Boys are still the Best. Beatles, Supremes. Olivia, Karen & Richard, Elton - what can I say. Radio wouldn't have repeats with the 60s to now. Saturday Night Dance Party back on one station per Market. Just a suggestion.
I first heard this medley while on vacation to California with my family in August 1981. We were at a Pizza Hut in South Dakota eating dinner, and it was on the jukebox in the restaurant.
The Boys hit #12 in Bilboard, 10-3-81. God bless you, TracyvBob, for postin' it. Thanx! Have a blessed weekend! RIP, Dennis and Carl Wilson. Welcome back, David Marks, to the group!
Geee the 80's were the times lol i remember going to manly, bondi, up the coast with this music back then, pickin up the beach babes and partying on into the night around a bon fire.... great days they were..
A great medley by The Beach Boys! This was a featured track on "American Top 40 - The '80s" (from October 17th, 1981), & was the #34 song. Bravo, Brian, Dennis (R.I.P.), Carl (R.I.P.), Mike & Al!
And the thing is, they could have made another medley with just as many, but different, songs. Maybe two more medleys! Think about all the greats that didn't make it into this medley: California Girls, God Only Knows, Sloop John B, Wouldn't It Be Nice, 409, Little Honda, Kokomo, When I Grow Up, Don't Worry Baby, It's Ok, Do It Again, etc.
I remember being 8-9 years old and listening to our family’s big stereo that had the record player for 45s. Cool summer high desert evenings with this song playing over and over ❤
AH! I LOVE the Beach Boys :) Lots of good memories. And I can name all the songs Good Vibrations, Help Me Rhonda, I Get Around, Shut Down, Surfin' Safari, Barbara Ann, Surfin' USA (my favorite song), Fun, Fun, Fun
I remember how this medley went up against (while, not exactly at the same time) Hooked on Classics and Stars on 45, which were dance singles. I found this mix more ingenious because the tempo actually changes a few times.
Yes! And Motown also made several on its top 60s groups. One was actually released as a single, a Megamix by Diana Ross and The Supremes. Hit #46 on Billboard's dance disco chart in 1980.
I like almost all of the songs in this medley. Those songs defines their music. Cotton Fields and Sloop John B won't fit to be included in this medley, since they only covered both songs which were created by other people. However, both songs are my favourite of them.
Don't get me wrong. I like some of the Beach Boys songs, but feel they were largely over-rated. Seems only Americans still think they were the bees knees. Let's be honest. MANY of their songs sounded the same which is sock rotting.,
Sam Toucan Well, their early work did sound similar in terms of their voice but what do you expect, I don't expect Kendrick Lamar to sound like A Tribe Called Quest in his other songs.

AMERICA'S # 1 BAND ! THE BEACH BOYS !

I see a lot of comments about this song on the billboard top 40, that's exactly where I heard it! Week of August 22 1981,( from siriusxm 80s on 8)

You have a cool dad.
I have a Cool Mom
It was on the first tape of theirs I ever owned. (It spawned an Ultrafan)

Thank you thank you thank you!!!! Absolutely awesome!

Giddyup Giddyup
Excellent remark!
On the juke box in the game room, at the Camping des Aulnaies, Quebec in 1984 when I was 12...
Bought my first vinly record when this came out in high school, beach boys 20 golden greats or something
I remember when this was on the radio....
On Barbara Ann Jan & Dean were invited on to sing on the recording.
My father had the original Capitol 45 of that track. It was also in mono.
One of two Medleys Capitol put out during that period, the other was "Movie Medley" by The Beatles,in 1982.
Nostalgia brought me here.
That Kid on KFIZ has Potential.
1981 or 1961 ?!? 😊😅😂🏊♂️🏄🏄♂️🏊🏄♀️🏊♀️" Lets twist again, like we did last summer " !!!😎🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌤🌞🌞🌞

The Beach Boys Medley
#12, 1981.
@badcock1 It was released as a 45 rpm single in 1981 along with 'God Only Knows' on the other side.
Now I read where Mike Love actually FIRED some group members! Brother Love, how COULD you!!!
The album cover depicts a goofy footing version of the Naked Surfer statue at the Scumington Beach pier.
Genius editing.
All of it aw yea
So do Stew and Nick for that matter.
I Love The Beach Boys They Sing Good
yea i love the beach boys as well they do sing good
People that Looks like Snow Flakes and this Generation don't fit well in this Realm
i too think they sing good
They sing WELL. ;)
Unique sound like no other.
Shame it’s not the full version 😭
The Beatles Movie Medley is another one Capitol made during this period!
Yes! And Motown also made several on its top 60s groups. One was actually released as a single, a Megamix by Diana Ross and The Supremes. Hit #46 on Billboard's dance disco chart in 1980.

@win84kl Here's the order: Good Vibrations, Help Me Rhonda, I Get Around, Shut You Down, Surfin' Safari, Barbara Ann, Surfin' USA, and Fun Fun Fun.

This was ripped from a "greatest hits" tape from the mid '80s.

Beach Boys Platinum Collection (3 CD Set). Just like the original poster stated. Doncha read the descriptions ???
Why in mono?
The original songs were recorded in mono
Coño q rolon :’)
Maybe people did so much coke in the early 80s that they didn't have the patience for whole songs -- there were so many medleys that charted.

1981 wasn't it?
Yes just type it into Google. So simple!

I know the answer! It is LITTLE DEUCE COUPE.
Bitchin'.
Where can I get this medley? What CD or album is in on?
It's on their Platinum Album. 3 CDS. It's brilliant!
Very bad sound quality.
Not a good medley in my opinion. It doesn't try to be a composition. I'ts just a bunch of small random Beach Boys songs strung together.
That's what a medley is .🙄
@@FrankMartinez-p5y No, a good medley is a composition.
