2020 Flower Carnival Debrecen. 100 years ago in the early nineties, this festival started in Debrecen, Hungary. Flower decorated carts from different cities are presented.
The Flower Carnival in Debrecen is one of the largest and most popular cultural events in Hungary, which celebrated its 50th birthday in 2016. The central element of the event is the carnival parade on August 20, during which flower compositions made using hundreds of thousands of live flowers, almost 5 meters high and 12 meters long, pass through the streets of Debrecen accompanied by domestic and foreign dancers and traditional groups. Today, however, the Flower Carnival in Debrecen has grown into a Carnival Week, when various children's programs, concerts and theatre performances await visitors to the city in many parts of the city.
The “Flower Carnival” is the city’s most popular tourist event, commemorating the inauguration of King St. Stephen, the founder of the state, and the Feast of New Bread, August 20th. In the previous week, roughly half a million arrived in the civil city of two hundred thousand permanent residents. Originally a one-day event, it has grown into a full "carnival week" with various programs and concerts. This series of programs will be crowned by the flower carriages marching on August 20th. In Europea unique carnival is a promising event every year, whose reputation grows year by year. The events are related to the usual celebrations of the surrounding settlements and other notable events (eg the Hortobágy Bridge Fair ).
