Thanks very much for watching Katy and your kind words, very much appreciated. I sure need some adventures, just getting over the cold from hell after Mrs Metalman previously had it , which she brought back from Scotland. I was feeling dam chipper after Ben Nevis but not been out since. Now that I am almost back to full match fitness, I just need to some good weather, oh and some petrol lol. Take care, cheers Alan
Lovely walk Alan. The scenery is so pretty. Glad you got there on such a wonderful day. So cool to see where Captain Cook came from. Also, a huge plus there was no one there by the monument. It is always nicer to have places like this for yourself.
Yes, I so agree, I hate the crowds, which is why I did not Climb Roseberry Topping, far too many people on there and I have done it numerous times before. Thanks very much for watching and enjoy the weekend, cheers Alan

Many thanks for watching and a very rushed plan B but one that was almost on my doorstep and a place I know very well, as I have been going there since I was a kid. Take care both, cheers Alan
I enjoyed that, Alan, having only completed the Cleveland Way a couple of weeks ago now. The weather you experienced looks preferable to the wind and showers I met! ;-) I had my own reservations about going up Roseberry Topping and back down but I'm pleased I've done it. Had been eyeing it up for about eight years! ;-) A very popular walk along there, to the monument and back and a lovely picnic area in the woods beside the car park, as I recall. Hope you have a good week and thanks for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed it Olly and hopefully good memories for you It's always a nice walk and only about 25 miles from home, so a local walk for me, one I have been doing since I was a kid. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
Glad you enjoyed it David and to be honest, filmed this at the end Of July but never got round to posting and stuck to put something up, so fell in lucky with this. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan

Thank you too my friend, I always appreciate you taking the time to watch and a place I have been visiting since a kid, when my parents first took me. Even though this was a very rushed plan B, it still turned out to be a very enjoyable day, cheers Alan
That brought back nice memories of my Cleveland Way walk last year. It’s a lovely little hill isn’t it with some great views on a clear day. Quite a tough descent for the knees from what I remember
It sure is and always busy, I looked at it, as I have been up there numerous times before of the years and thought no, too many people on there for me. Thanks for watching, cheers Alan
Nice adventure Alan. You can really see for a long ways in all directions. Nice scenery as long as people keep their shirts on. LOL. Thanks for sharing your adventure. Take care.
Very true lol! Filmed in late July but I was not happy with it, so just left it. Not been out for almost 4 weeks now, so it came in handy for my weekend hiking video lol. Thanks very much for stopping by Steve, cheers Alan
Haha, we sometimes look at the South and say, 'they always get the best of the weather', which may be true but I am sure happy with the countryside we have up here, with the Yorkshire Dales just South of us, the Lakes to the West, Northumberland to the North and the North York Moors to the East of us, something I really appreciate and never take for granted. Appreciate you watching Marc, cheers Alan
Haha, yes, I guess so, unusual for me mind, never had to set an alarm for years but it turned out not too bad for a Plan B. Thanks for watching Des, cheers Alan
Thanks, you too! A local walk for me, about 25 miles from home, so been here numerous times before but still enjoy it. Thanks very much for watching Mike, cheers Alan
What a fantastic landscape Alan on such a lovely day. We are so very lucky up north to have great countryside and I miss it a lot living abroad. It’s the greenery and other colors of the moors and hills. All the best mate
Glad you enjoyed it and this was actually filmed almost 2 months ago but just got round to putting it up. Been coming here since I was a kid and then took my kids and grandkids up there, always love it. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan

Some really beautiful walks and looks like great walking country🥰. It can be so frustrating when things don't go to plan, but as you said, the mountains aren't going anywhere, one for another day. Excellent video as always. I have been to Roseberry Topping once many years ago and it was really awesome so im happy to see it again. Have a great week cheers from barnyz

Captain Cook left from Cardiff, didn't he? There is a monument to him in Cardiff Bay. Harry Metalman.... whole family Metalman.... Wow, swimming too.................... never mind sleeping in, a human being has to be able to do that once in a while.... Beautiful image quality, as always! I always fear please that are packed... I don't like it, especially when we want to film. Beautiful scenery and beautiful weather! I almost wish I could have joined you.................... 20ºC.... great weather for climbing!
A big local hero here, as he was born only a few miles away and there are statues of him in Whitby, which used to be a big whaling port many years ago. I hate the crowds too, I always look for somewhere quiet and I wish we had this weather now, I actually filmed this at the end of July but never got round to putting it up. Harry Metalman is my grandson and came on a few hikes with me, shame he is more interested in gaming now rather that the outdoors. Have a great weekend, cheers Alan
"Blencathra will be there for another day." The hills will always be there. The trick is to make sure that you are. I was 71 last Monday. Roseberry Topping has been on my to-do list for years. Hope I haven't left it to late! As always, nice video.
I am 66 Russell, so I am sure you make it and when you do, I hope you get weather like this, real nice day, not too hot, just right for hiking. One thing I can guarantee, the views are amazing from the summit. Thank you very much for watching, cheers Alan
You certainly got the perfect day for it Alan, wonderful weather and beautiful purple heather! Hope you had a lovely meal of the evening! Im sure Mrs Metalman was happy to have you back in a timely fashion! 👍

I normally waked up between 04.00 and 05.00 every morning, so never bother with an alarm but sods law I slept in when I wanted to be away early, so this was a very rushed plan B. Admittedly it’s not quite Blencathra but it’s a canny little place to have on our doorstep isn’t it. Finally got round to watching this video, enjoyed it. Glad you got nice weather for it too. Done Roseberry topping and captain cooks many times before, enjoyed it every time although last time it was really busy.
Same, real busy, so I just by passed the summit and funny enough, apart from the monument hardly saw anybody else, which was much better lol. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
Cracking weather you has there Alan. Lovely far reaching views with lots of empty countryside. Lovely. That pointed hill looked very interesting. I forgot the name. Was it Blancartha or something like that. 👍
Funny enough I filmed this at the end of July but been ill with the cold from hell for about 10 days, so had nothing to put up, so this filled a spot lol. Still a good plan B and a good day out. Thanks for watching Martin, cheers Alan
Great walk Alan! I couldn't help but enjoy the puffy white clouds that were with you in the bright blue sky! What a lovely day! I couldn't exactly tell, but were there lots of ferns lining the trail? We have several types of ferns that grow in the shady forest, and one or two that grow out in the sunshine. Say hello to Mrs. M for me - see you again soon! J :)
Thanks for watching Jennifer and yes, plenty of ferns over here and although not the place I had initially intended to visit, turned out to be a real nice day, cheers Alan
I always want to stay in bed Alan... my body clock decides I only need a max of 5 hours sleep though 😔 "The paths go for miles & miles and miles" I wish I had such luxury down south Alan. I'd of had words with the people on Mrs MM's seat... "Do you know who's seat this is?" I always enjoy your videos Alan. Lee
Thanks very much for watching Lee and I am the same about 5 hours kip every night no matter how tired I am of what time I go to bed but sods law I was sleep in the day I wanted to be up at first light lol, cheers Alan
Thank you, appreciate you watching and you can walk for miles on those trails and not see anyone, bit different on the popular places but I tend to keep away from them, cheers Alan
In the description, I always have my e-mail address and that reminds me I am filming a mail call on Wednesday as I have had some letters for a few weeks now. This is real local to me about 25 miles from home, so always a nice go to place when plans get changed. Thank you very much for stopping by, always appreciated, cheers Alan
I was only up there last week Alan. You can't beat it on a nice day. It's only a half hour drive for me as well so if I can't get to the lakes it's ideal. I don't know if you've walked past Captain Cooks monument but there's a nice waterfall at Kildale if you walk the other way. Great video as usual.
I did not know that Ian but will defo be looking into that. I actually filmed this at the end of July but not really happy with it, so I left it. Not been out for 3 weeks as we have both been suffering with the cold from hell, so it came in handy. Thank you very much for watching and local info, cheers Alan
@@AlanMETALMAN That's not good Alan 🤢 hope your both feeling better soon. I'll try and send you the details of where it is. It's a nice round from Cooks monument and not too far. I'm going to go back shortly myself as I'd just missed the best of Autumn colour there last year.
Hi Alan always nice to see the moors, was wondering if you have parked at clay bank car park and gone up the wainstones and round hill highest hill in the moors, anyway lovely area and thanks for taking us back cheers nigel
Thanks for watching Nigel and no I have not buddy but should really try somewhere different on the Moors, been going back to this same spot since I was a kid, just because I enjoy it there and such good memories for me but new is sometimes better too, cheers Alan
By far the coolest looking hiker I have seen 😎 This looks like a cracking day out, im definitely going into some new territory this year so might give this a go, I have to say though Blencathra ( which ever way you go up ) is my favourite hike I’ve ever done And don’t worry you’ll never catch me with my top off 😂😂 Another awesome vid mate Big love team54 🥾❤️🏔
Been going there since I was a kid and still do it at least once a year still, always a great hike and although not the highest, surprisingly steep if you go up the front way. I hope you make it this year, you will enjoy it. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
Usually never set an alarm, I always wake up between 04.00 and 05.00 but sods law when I wanted to be up the crack of dawn, I slept in lol. The plan B was just about on my doorstep, so not all lost. Thanks so much for stopping by, cheers Alan
Good to see you back out again, Alan, though it can be hard leaving the comforts of a warm bed!! That's a lovely area you were hiking in and a nice piece of history with Captain Cook. How did you get the blue skies!! Regards, Ashley p/s I lost the plot and ordered the Osmo camera.
I will be interesting to see/hear your thoughts on the Osmo, it was a toss up between that and the GoPro for me just over 2 years ago. To be honest, I filmed this at the end of July but not really happy with it and as I am 'still' suffering with this bloody cold, had nothing to put up this week lol! Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
@@AlanMETALMAN Sorry to hear you're still not 100%. At least it gives you time to watch lots of videos!! Have experimented with my next video using a stabilization function so it might be a bit better. Regards, Ashley
A familiar landmark to me Alan..............lovely area for walking and a small mountain as a bonus, as you know a gorgeous spread of Bluebells in mid-late May below the 'topping' itself......was this before you went up Blencathra with Eddie ?.......nice one mate............ATB.......Stu/Wendy...........👌👍
Good spot mate, yes you are right I did this either the end of July or beginning of August but was not really happy with it, so just left it. Unfortunately, been suffering with the cold from Hell for over 10 days, after catching it from Mrs Metalman, so had nothing to put up this week lol! Appreciate you watching, cheers Alan
I remember I used to hear rumors about Captain Cook being killed and eaten by cannibals. I guess that wasn't true though he was killed by Hawaiians but not eaten. A bit of a flatter landscape than what you normally hike but still quite lovely.
It's a local walk for me Eric and always a Plan B if my other plans go up in smoke, which they did on this one. It was his bones they were after as they believed that they held the strength of a man. Good of you to watch buddy, cheers Alan

Thank you 👍
Gorgeous place Alan! Vast land of wonder. I wonder how long the trails are.
Thank you, appreciate you watching and you can walk for miles on those trails and not see anyone, bit different on the popular places but I tend to keep away from them, cheers Alan
Beautiful place Alan. Also enjoy watching videos of your area. Hey my friend where can I mail you a sticker? Thanks👍✌️🚐😎
By far the coolest looking hiker I have seen 😎
This looks like a cracking day out, im definitely going into some new territory this year so might give this a go, I have to say though Blencathra ( which ever way you go up ) is my favourite hike I’ve ever done
And don’t worry you’ll never catch me with my top off 😂😂
Another awesome vid mate
Big love team54 🥾❤️🏔
Been going there since I was a kid and still do it at least once a year still, always a great hike and although not the highest, surprisingly steep if you go up the front way. I hope you make it this year, you will enjoy it. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
It is so hard getting up early in the morning sometimes. Lovely plan B though
@@AlanMETALMAN Hope you are feeling better.
@@stubloggs6358 - Cheers bud :o)
I remember I used to hear rumors about Captain Cook being killed and eaten by cannibals. I guess that wasn't true though he was killed by Hawaiians but not eaten. A bit of a flatter landscape than what you normally hike but still quite lovely.
It's a local walk for me Eric and always a Plan B if my other plans go up in smoke, which they did on this one. It was his bones they were after as they believed that they held the strength of a man. Good of you to watch buddy, cheers Alan
Amazing videos, interacting with me💓💓
Real good of you to watch and comment, very much appreciated, cheers Alan
