One of my favorite things about Angelina is that she is not "trying" to impress you. There's no need to give you flashy runs or hit the highest notes. The sings with so much emotion and subtle details that it just reaches out and pokes you right in the soul. It is impossible to not feel whatever song she is singing. "When you sing and you close your eyes you go to a different place..." Man, that is exactly what she said in one of her interviews. 👏 What amazing about this cover is how impressive her low register is. I mean she can dive to the lowest note the song has and still will sounds like she's not in the very bottom yet. And the transition from the low register to the high note are just so sweep. And she's hitting those high notes without sounding loud. Her vocal control is so great that she can manage to keep her low and high notes in the same volume all through out the song. And that's a very hard thing to do.

I discovered Angelina Jordan a year ago with Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down), Gloomy Sunday and What a Difference a Day Makes, and your reaction was like looking at myself in the mirror. But her call to her guitarist would have ended: " . . . while I sit in this chair and kill this song while reading the lyrics from my smartphone." You can tell because she keeps glancing off to her left and struggles less to make the words fit as the song progresses (and she has her phone in frame on some of her other cover videos). So much for the theory that you have to have experienced an emotion to convey it convincingly. And finally, a big hand for her accompanist for giving her vocals plenty of room. He's as large as her or larger on screen but manages to disappear by keeping his accompaniment sparse.
After watching Angelina sing a couple of times...I have to watch it again just to see the hosts reactions. I laugh so hard it makes my stomach hurt. He's just so theatrical. I cried listening to the way she sang this song with that beautiful voice. It made me think of all the people in my life that are gone and I miss. It has the same effect on me every time I listen to it and that has never happen to me before and I've been listening to music for over 50 years.
No way you are the only one. This girl coveys more emotion and I don't think its really close. Someone posted a video with them side by side and you can really tell. Adele just sort of sends it in when she plays it live (Maybe its too emotional for her to be that vulnerable?) I really don't know, but Angelina's version IS better.

I just looked that up and the info I got is she is 5 feet tall. I watched the videos of her latest outdoor concert in Norway and she was definitely not 6 feet. All the men in the band were much taller than her.

She touches my heart like nobody else except maybe Elvis and David Gilmour and a very few others. Have you seen her rendition of I Put a Spell On You that she made at only 9 years old? There are several very good young female singers who have come along in the last ten years. She has what, I guess, would be called a blues or an old-time nightclub voice. To be honest, I'd rather listen to Angelina than the original artists with some of her songs. For a different voice, a classical voice who now can sing pop and Broadway, try early videos from Jackie Evancho. She started on AGT when she was 10. Look for her rendition of Nessun Dorma or The Lord's Prayer from her first PBS special. She's 19 now and just released her seventh album. There are many videos out there of her from the past nine years to choose from.
I hope you find the time to come back to Angelina. I would also love to see you react to another crazy talented Norwegian woman: the magical Aurora born in 1996. Angelina's voice is a hot wind heavily scented with spices, blowing over the dessert sand on a moonlit night, while Aurora's voice is the sparkle as the sun hits the water, glinting so strong it almost blinds you and create rainbows on your retinas. She is an introvert and never wanted to be an artist, but she started to write songs in secret only for herself when she was nine years old, her family did not even know she sang until she was 14 years old. When she was 15 she got 4 hours in a studio and recorded her song Puppet because her parents so desperately wanted to hear her sing and she could not stand to sing in front of them.
She explained in an interview "Suddenly, three weeks after ["Puppet"] was leaked on RUclips by a classmate I had management. And I didn't even want to meet my management. I didn't have any use to become an artist, I didn't see the point of it. Then my mother told me that she felt this wonderful feeling between sadness and happiness, at the same time. She told me that if I could make her feel that way, maybe I could make people feel that way. And it would be selfish in one way to hide music from the world if it could be of any use. That kind of made me take the first step into the music industry.”

I just looked that up and the info I got is she is 5 feet tall. I watched the videos of her latest outdoor concert in Norway and she was definitely not 6 feet. All the men in the band were much taller than her.

There are several very good young female singers who have come along in the last ten years. She has what, I guess, would be called a blues or an old-time nightclub voice. To be honest, I'd rather listen to Angelina than the original artists with some of her songs.
For a different voice, a classical voice who now can sing pop and Broadway, try early videos from Jackie Evancho. She started on AGT when she was 10. Look for her rendition of Nessun Dorma or The Lord's Prayer from her first PBS special. She's 19 now and just released her seventh album. There are many videos out there of her from the past nine years to choose from.
I hope you find the time to come back to Angelina. She is an amazing young lady. :)
