  • I had one last bait session at the rock mark, I arrived around 5.15am and would fish my heavier rod through to light at approximately 7am; high tide was at 4.30am. Then when it became light I would move to my normal place to float fish for mini species.

I've really enjoyed going after the mini species on a float and catching species we don't get back home.

I lived there for 13 years, not the best venue to pick for fishing, many better ways to spend your time on Tenerife.

Looks great there! Did you see any bass in the water? I'm heading there next month and might take a fly rod with me.

I saw plenty of people spinning for bass round the corner towards Los Cristianos. Enjoy your holiday.

Hello, thanks for the video! Never fished from the seashore before, but so eager to try it out. Now just searching and trying to learn as much as I can before a trip to Tenerife in February. I'm really concerned about the safety of being on a rocky shore as a person who has never done that. I'm a complete novice, could you please give me a couple of tips on this? Should one go on high tide? Low tide? How strong of the wind is considered dangerous? How far from the water should you stay? :) so many questions.. :) thank you in advance if you decide to take some time and answer!

I'm no expert on fishing Tenerife, but I would recommend that you fish from low tide up on a rock mark, that way you can judge your safety when the tide start coming in. I do know that the north of the island has more dangerous rock marks than the south due to the prevailing wind. Where abouts in Tenerife are you planning on staying?

@@garethwilliams3333 thank you for responding! I've marked lots of potential spots in the south of Tenerife (one of them actually being almost the same you were fishing from:). Basically, 95% of them are between La Caleta and El Medano. The ones I liked the most were around Costa del Silencio, Punta Negra. I've been watching Tenerife live cameras that show ocean movement and surprisingly it is very calm almost all the time. But.. there were people swept away or fatally wounded, 7 of them fishermen only this year. This is very confusing - on one hand incredibly quiet ocean and still, somehow the outcome might be fatal. Thanks for your advice - I was thinking similarly - should start very carefully watching how the waves behave on the tide up, and always have a quick way out of the spot. :)

You should be fine in the south, the places where people get swept away are the northern rock marks due to the prevailing wind. There is a stone jetty/breakwater in Playa Fanabe that an easy safe mark. Good luck and hope you have a nice time.
