Great final image of the moon there Simon. And thanks for demonstrating the video function in the ASIAIR - (something I haven't tried out yet). Clear skies.
Thanks Logan, the ASIAIR is a simple to use but capable little red box of tricks, one being the video function that I’ve only just discovered 🤣 Definitely worth a look and very handy for mobile rigs out in the field as well as the obsey! Clear skies!
Thanks, Simon. I always enjoy your videos, but I have a minor complaint. The music is too loud relative to your voice. I'm always having to reduce the volume during the musical sections.
Thanks for the video. I have the ASI Air Plus as well and want to try tis on the moon soon. Newbie question...did you polar align prior to slewing to Vega to plate solve?
Hi David and thanks for watching! I’m sure you’ll get on fine with your ASIAIR plus on the moon! If your rig is portable and you have to set up every time, then yes, polar align every time you set up! If, like me, your setup is permanent, then no, I haven’t polar aligned in 3 months! I do check it periodically though 👍 Clear skies!
Thanks Ollie😀 Yeah, was quite pleased for a first attempt! You know how it is mate, these things usually go south when you try something new🤣 I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was! Clear skies👍
Very interesting video Simon. I have a ASIAir Plus lying around for 1 year now. Just used it once. Just because of PA (60° slew leads to scope facing a wall). Anyways: interesting to see how to apply the device & software to imaging the moon. Very helpful walk-through mate! Beautiful final moon image. 👍🏼 Clear skies
Thanks Tully! The ASIAIR plus is a very good device, I’ve only just tried out the video function and was surprised how good it was! You should give it a go mate👍 Thanks for watching and clear skies!
Привет. Хорошее видео и результат! Но можно было не включать лунную скорость, т.к. если вы наведетесь на Луну с помощью автоматического наведения скорость подберется сама. И так для любого объекта.
Thanks Stuart, much appreciated 😀 The ASIAIR is very easy! That’s why I’m a bit nervous of the change I’m about to make by taking off the ASIAIR and putting on the Mele quieter3 mini pc on the rig and running Nina🤦♂️ CS
@@SimonsAstro Dont be nervous, NINA is great and there is good help on the discord group. I must admit the ASIair does look good and if it worked with QHY cameras I would try it for sure, especially for a mobile set up..👍🏻
Thanks for watching Rob, good point you make! The ASIAIR is a great piece of kit and I would highly recommend it to beginners, but it does have limitations, that’s why I’ve switched to Nina, to be able to open and close my observatory roof in a sequence! Clear skies👍
Cheers Simon, this popped up just as I was looking for new content. Got the first like in. I use I.C.E. from Microsoft for stitching, which is free but is now hard to find. There is a YT video somewhere on how to find it. Also I noticed that ASI spell Lunar as "Luner" in the tracking rate menu. Strange.
Great tutorial Simon
Thank you
Thanks Peter, glad you liked it👍 Clear skies!
The beauty of the 6 panels is the extra detail you are able to get using the larger scope, great vid Simon thanks
Thanks Nik, appreciated 👍
You could get more of the moom if you selected bin 2. Lower potential resolution of course but your seeing already limits that.
Thanks for watching and commenting, good point! CS
Nice Showcasing the video function of the ASI AIR! very nice image as well! CS
Thanks Jason, I’m quite impressed with that function 👍😀
Great detail in the images Simon good to see you use the time of full moon to your advantage mate
Thanks so much Tony😀👍 Clear skies!
Olá Simon, achei bastante interessante como você editou os vídeos, assim ficou bem mais fácil e o aplicativo é bem pratico. Parabéns.
@@valtertaubate Thanks very much! Glad you found the video interesting! Clear skies👍
Nice video Simon of our often overlooked moon. Clear skies bud
Cheers Rob👍😀 Clear skies!
Brilliant, love to see the ASI being utilized and featured, love the final image.
😀Thanks Woody👍

I used to love taking images of the moon with my old canon camera with a 600mm lens , nice image
Cheers mate, I use to do the same🤣
Nice one mate, the ASIAIR has some nice features, you got a great lunar capture there mate well done. Clear skies
Thanks Glenn, appreciated mate👍 Can’t believe I’ve had it for over a year and not looked at the video function before 🤣 Clear skies!
Simon, that's a great video. Thanks for sharing your work. Keep going 👍
Thanks so much😀👍 Clear skies!

Thanks for the constructive criticism, I’ll bear that in mind on the next vid👍 Clear skies
Might be his settings or connections, I’ve never found the sound to loud ?
Very useful video Simon, something I'll try when the clouds decide to go on holiday!! Not seen a star here for weeks!
Thanks Jeremy 😀 I hope those clouds clear off soon mate👍 Clear skies!🤞
Thank you, great video.
@@robstanley559 Thanks Rob, You’re welcome👍
Very useful! The photopad software will save me buying a new widefield scope and mount.

A nice change... - Jupiter next on the cards simon?
Thanks, nice idea🤔
Nice one Simon. How much was the new hoody?
Thanks Mark! It’s an old one mate🤣
Its too bad the ASIAir does not support a larger resolution so as to avoing having to to panel stitching. Would be much easier for LRGB mono.

just had a similar epiphany, stop hating the moon and image it with my guiding camera ASI 462mc
