    Nice comparison and a huge price difference between the two scopes. Simon Pity though of the minor focusser on the Askar, but it's normal they have to safe money somewhere. In regards to the difference in brightness and contrast, it looks to me that difference is produced due to the almost full moon, it makes a huge difference just two days around that moonphase in contrast that I see on my own images. So that must be the difference. When you showed the details in the center than the Esprit had obvious tighter stars. But for that price it is tempting to go for the largest apo . Would have liked if you would made the same processing though on both images to compare the end result

      @@siegfriednoet Thanks for the comment! Some valid points! By the way, I assume you mean Altair and not Askar! The moon may have had a slight impact on the contrast, although the 3nm filters I was using will have helped a lot! Seems kind of good deal that 130. I would love to 'jump' to a larger refractor than my 90mm in the mid term. Those 'cheap' Askar and TS Optics APO tempt me but it seems I also should consider the Altair! However, not sure how to acquire them outside UK without messing with the export duties. Time will tell. PS: Oh, that pier event... it scares me as hell! I have set the mount limits in EQMOD in my obsy but it is worthless if the PC crashes :( Maybe setting a contact switch in the mount somewhere to turn off the whole electricity it some of the telescope axis reaches a dangerous position... may work but quite tricky to setup properly.

    • @SimonsAstro
      @SimonsAstro Месяц назад

      @@aleixandrus Thanks so much for watching mate😀 Yeah the Altair 130 is tempting for sure! I’m sure Altair could get the scope shipped out to you without too much trouble (and expense!!) Interesting idea about shutting off the power in the event of a near collision! Don’t really know though how I’d do that!! Luckily the EQ6 has a clutch that slips so no damage to the rig👍 Clear skies mate!

    • @aleixandrus
      @aleixandrus Месяц назад

      @@SimonsAstro I suppose you can plug the mount to a intelligent power outlet controlled by a contact relay switch witch triggers an off signal if the mount reach a limit point. Not expensive or difficult to set really, having those home automation accesories. The tricky part to my view may be set the contact switch in a reliable way so it never turns the power off by accident while manually manipulate the mount. Some mounts have this functionality built-in but they are usually those crazy expensive. It is interesting what you say how the clutch allows some degree of slippage. I always though moving the mount with the brakes fully engaged may damage the worm gear (at least for some extent). Good to know this.

      @SimonsAstro Месяц назад

      @@aleixandrus Yeah the clutch definitely allows a certain amount of slippage!
