  • The venerable Charleston Municipal Golf Course was in need of an upgrade, but it got much more than that. Last year, with funding from the city and the local Friends of Muni, architect Troy Miller gave the South Carolina course a complete overhaul. His work was inspired by a Golden Age designer who left an indelible mark on the Charleston golf scene: Seth Raynor.

This course is fantastic. One of the best courses Ive every played. The course is flat but the greens are amazing. Definitely firm and fast.

Played Muni last October...got to walk three holes with designer Troy Miller, too. Great experience, great course, great people. A must-play if you're in Charleston.

Stunning footage as always. The Raynor/CB designs always walk the fine line of familiar and genuinely unique. Beautiful

Just played it on Tuesday. Fantastic. Very difficult and the greens are firm and fast! You gotta play links there for sure because the greens don't hold conventional iron shots unless you hit the ball SUPER high. If I'm ever in Charleston again I will play it for sure.

Fun to play. Walked 36 on a nice day Nov of 2021. Greens are too small given the slopes and the speed. I get you need to have the slope and the speed to get the greens to play right but the greens needed to be larger. Every time I am fortunate to play a course w greens like this they are 25-33% larger than at Muni. Glad I played it, won’t go out of my way to play again. 4 handicap.

What’s the monetary investment to renovate this?

Reportedly $2.5 million. Roughly 2/3 coming from the city and 1/3 from the Friends of the Muni community. Looks outstanding.
