    Back in the 50's the Russians filmed fleets of their bombers in the sky and released the videos/tapes. This jolted us so badly that we proceeded to build our own fleets of B-52s. Now we know that the Russians never had all those bombers, they just kept the same groups flying around a circle in the sky.
    We will build our own hyper-sonic weapons, they will far surpass anything anyone else has. We need to be careful not to go overboard and build 100,000 of them, however.

      @Iyas kelu
      Maybe in the long run, but both require very large booster rockets. There really isn’t much difference in how they work though.
      The Russian Avangard is the only hypersonic glide vehicle ICBM, and they aren’t replacing their entire inventory with it. The US is scheduled to replace all 450 Minuteman III’s in the next 10 years or so. It’s possible those could be with hypersonic glide vehicles. A better option might be MIRV warheads. That’s an older method but being able to lob multiple warheads on each rocket might be a superior method. That remains to be seen.
      The Arrow missile we are working on is similar to the Chinese DF-17 and 21. Not meant to carry nukes, it’s a tactical weapon for rapid response.

    If a American pilot fired that missile at a enemy 100 miles away, the enemy has around 24 seconds.
    What makes it worst is that most enemy radar systems in their planes won't pick up anything past 50 to 60 miles away. That only gives the pilot 12 seconds to react. .......... Damn!

These, I suspect will be more. So, the question then becomes, what do you need killed badly enough to spend over $1M on a missile to take it out?

    This AGM-183 does not seem to work the same way as it's Russian counterpart. Russian hypersonic missiles do not need to have a boost glide feature. They can also be fitted with nuclear warheads. I don't think the AGM-183 can be. It just seems to be some solid projectile that separates from the booster and glides to it's target. There is also no mention of maneuverability. Russian hypersonic missiles are highly maneuverable.
