I am collecting legal images to add more rooms to the adventure for an update later. I am also doing the same for monster images. Unique images are hard to find. As artists create them and put them up to buy I purchase them to put in the game. I am hoping to add a lot more monsters and adventure rooms to the game as time goes on.
So it's an asset flip.
@@ledumpsterfire6474 100% incorrect. An asset flip, or asset dump, game uses cheap assets, crappy graphics, and no innovation to create a low quality clone of a previously game.
KDH is 100% not that. I take a lot of time in research, design, mechanics, art, UI, and everything else to make my games good. That's why my 1st two games were successful.
@@ledumpsterfire6474Literally the exact opposite, wow
@KrakenStudiosGames
I wish you the best on this game. What were your first 2 games? Are they currently on Steam? I will keep my eye on this one. It looks interesting.
@@erome5578 WarPlan and WarPlan Pacific. Took me 6m just to learn how to work Unity Engine. Almost quit. WarPlan 2 comes out after this game.
Great looking game. I just put it on my wishlist. Reminds of the game "Sovereignty Crown of Kings" which held a HUGE amount of promise, however the devs abandoned the game in a bad state. Best of luck to this developer and hopefully this game succeeds.
Thanks for doing the video of KDH.
@@MadhattersinjeansThanks. I changed that text. Difficult to get all the text right on the first try even running it through checkers. I am still finding typos in the manual that I am surprised are there.
This scenario has been updated with all new kingdoms with different abilities. These are different kingdoms than the main scenario Realm of Aerde. This should add better flavor to the Isle of Nimora side scenario.
The game looks amazing - *rushes to the Steam page* - game releases in July. A curse upon thee!!
I want to give it plenty of time to work out the small bugs and have a chance to watch these kind of videos to see where players are struggling with the UI.
@@KrakenStudiosGames Quite right. Just for the record, I was cursing Nookrium. No sense in cursing the creators. Influencers, though, pfffft, they are ten a penny. :D
@@niafer9444 He's a good streamer.
Since this taping these main features have been added to the game since this version. We are on beta 86.
#1 Pirate raiding parties in undefended locations
#2 Scout button option in adventures just to take a peek at the difficulty and leave.
#3 Better computer opponent, more aggressive, more reactive to aggressive humans
#4 Victory points for conquests
#5 2 additional achievements for builder and peaceful players
#6 Hero level added to UI and hero menu screen
#7 A 12th building to build
#8 adventure spawn text that appear as you fight them
#9 added information on the summery of locations
#10 all achievements in summary are visible now
I will keep adding more as players suggest them.
You said Warlords my ears stood up!
Like an elf?
What game is that? Simply "warlords"?
@Luduin yeah I think they are available on GoG
@@Luduinyeah it’s a game like this on steam
Heavily reminds me of "Wizards and Warlords". Hopefully will end up much more fleshed out.
My thoughts exatly :) i even had to look who is developing this, because i thought it is a new version :)
@@ondrejstepanek6597 It's different. WaW is a true 4x if I remember correct. This has 4x elements like buildings and research. But it is more a wargame like you would play at home on a table with friends. Some have been asking for me to make a 4x mode for this game. Still considering it. Won't be as complicated though.
@@KrakenStudiosGames WaW was very character driven, like this. That is why i thought this is a sequel :)) whatever you do i am very curious about the result!
@@ondrejstepanek6597 I keep adding flavor till release and watching all streamer videos so I can get an idea of expectations and problems. Watching people play my game allows me to catch things and hear their thoughts. Battlemode just put up a video and he said some things in there that I am adding to the game that I wasn't planning on. He also spotted some bugs.
I hope the text size can be enlarged. Many players attracted to this game will be over 50 like me, with 50+ year old eyes.
The UI is autoscale or you can manually do it.
@@KrakenStudiosGames Thanks for that. I am seriously interested in KD&H and autoscale UI gives me the nod.
I never got around to playing the demo because it is terrible on a large monitor, but it is nice to see that there are hotkeys to easily change the UI size.
@@ItsGroundhogDay I forgot the exact number but 85% of players are on a 1920x1080 screen. Then you have 5% on 2567x1440, and less than that on 4k. Some players are still 1366x768 so I have to make the default UI for the most common graphics then work from there. Players are also different ages. A 4k screen for a player in his 60s need a closer UI than say someone in their 20s. So I let players choose auto-adjust or manual adjustments.
If you get the demo go into the scenario and use the [ and ] keys to adjust the UI. If you mess up SHIFT+ENTER resets it.
@@KrakenStudiosGames
Glad you made the screen resolution customizable for everyone. This was a major issue for me with the game Wartales. They have a preset resolution that's non-customizable for older people's eyes....smh. I look forward to being a supporter & buying your game.
Love Shadow Empires, and this does look in the same vein! Very exciting. Never got around to playing the Warlords series back in the day, but I do remember it and it looked cool. Thanks Nook, another for the over-long wishlist
I loved the old Warlords series before they tried to produce an RTS version of it. I remember buying the original one on floppy disks xD If this game is similar in playstyle and *good* I will be down for it.
KDH will be in the Nextfest June 10th and 12th... in case you can't watch on the 10th.
Updated features as of today
#1 Buildings can be upgraded
#2 Steam achievements for main scenario
#3 Weaken and Torment abilities added to magic using monsters
#4 more monsters
#5 flavor text for some monsters
#6 more information for ease of use in the UI and units
instantly to wishlist! Thanks Nook. :)
Wishlisted. I hope the heroes gain some more personality etc so there's some...attachment to them, I guess? Perhaps once they reach certain levels they get some reputation and as such their backstories randomly generate/expand further too? I dunno, hope dev reads this.
Their history is procedural generated. you can change it though. There is a death list. But I didn't make them people in the game. Darkest Dungeon they have personalities but I didn't take it that far.
OMG I cannot wait until July for the full release. Played the demo and have watched every single video of game play. You'll see me drooling in all the comments! I've played every single fantasy wargame available, from boardgame to now, from Dragon Pass onwards.
I don't mind a game being "simple" to pick up that has a lot of depth to it. To me, that makes the game more easily accessible and with the depth it will have me more engaged. I have tried the Crusader Kings series. While I normally love games with this much detail and the genre, the controls are just so obtuse and counterintuitive. I am supposed to be fighting off my enemies, not the UI.
All my games are moderate complexity with a lot of depth. When I did WarPlan often I got players complaining. Then slowly the realized "what if I try this strategy" and they started seeing how deep that game is. It has a sense of urgency for both sides. Axis to gain enough military victories and the Allies to build enough stuff and defend till late in the war.
While KDH doesn't have that sense of urgency like WW2 you are against the curse in the main scenario. The villain kingdom can win the game with the curse. The urgency mostly comes that you are competing with kingdoms on the other side of the map. Further challenges are taken with kingdoms that start off small and weak. I have a kingdom for everyone in the main scenario. Right now there are 5 unique scenarios in the game.
Main one with the curse.
A story conflict of location control based on the main scenario with ~35 kingdoms.... most of them are playable.
An 1v1 CO vs human hordes of undead invasion scenario
A fictional Europe scenario
A map where you must capture all the undead locations and fight off other kingdoms at the same time. If you dont the undead can get powerful enough to beat everyone scenario.
A smaller map scenario on a large island between 7 large kingdoms and various small ones.
This game reminds me of "Birthright' by Sierra. Dungeon crawling, heroes, conquering lands, etc.
oddly I never knew about that game until I made this one.
Wow, this game totally reminds me of Shadows of Forbidden Gods.
reminds me of Birthright The Gorgons Alliance.
That was an incredible game: about 4 genres in one. Very ambitious. I still have a Prima Strategy guide for it.
I can't wait to try this, thanks for sharing.
GREETINGS, WORLORD!!!!!
Demo is also being updated as beta testers find bugs.
So what´s the prediction, what´s your opinion about it so far Nookrium, a thumb up or down?
Crap... Another one for the wishlist. I HAVE A FAMILY TO SUPPORT NOOK!!
I don't know why, but the fact that the X button in their UI is off center by 3 or so pixels really irritates me. Please fix this!
reminds me of Age of Wonders a bit. Although battles seem to be more abstract.
Dang. A game the releases in July? These previews are getting ridiculous.
Looks like a good possibility to get late summer
looks interesting.
I listened to the watch repair joke five times and I still don't get it. Feeling dumb made me giggle a lot though. =)
Watch as in "look at". As if the sign said "You can look at repairs here".
@@MrNorker77 wow I get it now. lol thanks I feel even dumber cuz that was a pretty good joke!
I am liking the kingdom and army management...
I think it's also good that you recruit hero's to be governors and commanders.
The dungeon part look extremely horrible.
That should be a different game.
This looks like a Fantasy version of Shadow Empire
Sound a bit like Birthrigth - Gorgons alliance.
This makes me think of Imperialism 2. Though there's many differences.
That game is more 4x if I remember when I played it.
@@KrakenStudiosGames It's rather unique, but if it's a genre that's close by, it would 4X indeed.
Are the map(s) random generated?
The map generator can create most of a map. There are too many variables to consider and the map is very complicated in detail. But I keep trying to improve the system to make it possible to make a completely random map with X amount of players.
The editor allows players to make all sorts of maps and scenarios like GoT, D&D, or any other fantasy game. It won't be exact but at least you can get the map.
how can u play unrelease game
Cheater
Dev shares a review copy.
Steam removed the demo? :(
Demo is on the right side gotta scroll down a little bit.
Which nation lets you invade Poland?
The necromancer nation of course.
