    Hi Felix,
Man, you really know how to get a guy excited about a new knife!
One of the tools that I've always felt was getting very little attention was the drill! Having the ability to make different size holes is, in my opinion, a great advantage in the bush/forest when working with wood. I tended to advocate having a drill brace and bits, but that is quite bulky and heavy. The solution offered by the hex-hole and bits is the perfect solution. I would have been sorely tempted to include in the Pro Kit space for 4 bits (say 8, 10, 12, and 15mm bits). Bigger spade (flat head) bits could be carried separately, as they are bulkier.
I'd love to know what Victorinox have come up with for their new sheath! I wonder what the nay-sayers will come up with to criticise the knife system when all their issues have been dealt with. Hopefully, they will now concentrate on the knife itself, and hopefully acknowledge what a good offering it actually is.
A request: I would really like to suggest that you one day make a video about the cutting, carving, feathersticking, etc capability of the Venture blade, in a direct comparison with a similar size Scandi grind knife, say a Mora Garberg! I did see a RUclips video about this and the Venture compared very well, even better in some respects, but it was only one. Most other reviews seem to concentrate on batoning and wood splitting (and critique of the sheath!). You can regard this as my Christmas present from you! ;-) 🤣
That sharpening technique for the 90deg edge is nothing short of brilliant. I've often thought about how one would do that. Excellent!
You hinted at changes to the knife itself, or did I imagine that? Personally, the only thing I would change (and it IS quite important!) is the thickness of the blade stock. I would definitely have gone with a 4mm blade. It would add strength, a minute added thickness just behind the edge, and add very little to the weight (more steel, less polymer). It would also add more stability to the hex hole and drill bits. With the bade width remaining the same it would mean that the grind angle would change by a very small amount, but I'm not sure how acceptable that would be, as it would mean retooling to some extent. Forgive an old man his indulgences!
Thanks for another very interesting video. You must have great fun working with those guys at Victorinox!
Now I have to go work on my patience, waiting for the latest news!
    Cheers Felix!

    • @FelixImmler
      @FelixImmler  9 месяцев назад +1

Dear Dennis. Thanks a lot for your comment. To answer your super interesting questions i could fill a book. I try the short version.
Drill: yes, to be able to drill a big hole in the forest is a game changer for me. Yes an auger is better but 10 times heavier and bigger.
The new knife sheath has eliminated 4 problems: Too little resist in the knife sheath, the rattle problem, the knife could rotate in the sheath, the knife often jammed during insert it.
Yes a comparison would be a intersting Video.
We can't change the Knife himself at the moment. Hopefully it will be further developed in future versions... but that is the producer's decision. I can only make wishes.
      Greetings from Switzerland
      Felix

      @@FelixImmler Hi Felix,
Thanks so much for going to the trouble of answering so fully! Much appreciated.
I guess the sheath issues were the most urgent ones and hopefully more easily dealt with.
I also do understand that changing the knife itself involves complicated re-tooling and a host of other issues and would impact the sheath again as well. It was more a cry for consideration for future iterations of the Venture, or maybe even under a different name?
I look forward to your next series of videos dealing with these sheath issues, and of course the comments from the Knife and bushcraft community! Thanks again for your reply to my comment! 👍

Last September Victorinox made a delivery stop of the venture because of the issues with the sheath. They overworked the sheath and right now they startet to produce the new sheath. Lastest after February 2024 the knife should be avalable worldwide. I would go on the Victorinox Webshop direct. I gues there you can buy the knife from January.

    Very good and interesting video.
Thank you so much for sharing it.
One question: does the “new Victorinox Venture” only change the sheath of the knife?
