I think cheese is being a little harsh to himself and other 120 runners. Sure they don’t perfect every star, but I think 120 is more about consistency and the ability to maintain composure under pressure when you’re an hour into a run. Just a different skill set 🤷🏼♂️ the amount of times cheese has clutched at a tournament is ridiculous
Consistency is the most important thing in speedrunning. If you can't consistently get to late game in 120 star you ain't gonna be prepared for the later levels.
Suigi just got a 47:1X in 70 and weegee was on comfy WR pace in 120 in his latest PB. I agree that consistency is needed aswell, but they both are incredibly good at it. As cheese said: they consistently get incredibly good times, far better than any of the other 120 runners. Look at the pace they're improving with, suigi just destroyed 16 in a year, he keeps on getting PBs all the time. Weegee got a WR in 70 with a huge mess up in BitS and got the potential to get WR in 16, 70 and 120 - no one else can say that about themself
This is the kind of reaction content I really like. The commentary adds so much to the original video and to be fair, I probably wouldn't have seen the run at all without this reaction video. Love it
People that are legitimately experts at pretty much anything giving nice explanations and commentary over pretty much anything is extremely compelling content and something a lot of different industries are gonna pick up on in the years to come in a more official capacity. I imagine with someone so determined to lower the record, those 3 notable mistakes will keep him grinding to possibly get 14:3x. Definitely could happen if he matches more of those early game gold times
Agreed. This run was a 12:39 FS exit, weegee even got a 12:35 once. And BitS wasn't perfect either, so there's potential to get a 3X, it's just insanely hard. I wonder who'll break the propably last 10-second barrier in this category
I´ve heard a runner named "Shake" has potential. Also GreenSuigi should add a heartrate monitor to make things seem more legit. I feel like his heartrate would skyrocket like Darbian´s back in the day. What Cheese is suggesting is "what if we just became the best at every level ever, we are lazy if we don't." That's... commendable, but bananas at the same time
that is crazy amount of work since 16 star is just 16 stars that have been highly optimized over the course of several years. 120 is the optimization of not only those 16 stars but also the other 104 stars. So its a much more daunting task to optimize those other stars and have the endurance to do it since its such a long speed run.
Yeah, like I love cheese’s vision but the practicality of spending that much time just isn’t there imo Somewhere down the road I can eventually see it, u would need to be a super talented runner and sink hours upon hours upon hours upon hours upon hours upon hours into each star

That whole less-than thing you do is uncalled for. What's worse is you literally sell it well and you're not being humble; you actually believe it. I think I finally get why a straight male(reportedly) like me is magnetized to you. You're good at stuff, if not the best at stuff, but you so effectively put yourself down just like I do! Found another splice run that was left on RUclips from Speed Demos Archive but I think one of the moderators found FuniaSM64 cheated, this was 10 years ago but just an interesting to know what's left on RUclips by cheaters. :) by the way I would say Greensuigi is more coincident with his movement I swear.
I'm absolutely not saying Suigi is splicing (cuz I don't think he did) but all the arguments you used: already holding the record, having the verified skills required to do it without cheating, knowing that he would be caught if he did... all those, despite being very reasonable, were used in the past to defend players who ended up being cheaters (yeah I watched a few Karl Jobst videos). Explains why people are so suspicious, a few of those and you get trust issues. Well that and the need for drama ofc
@@Suigi Ofc, I'm only being a bit rethorical about the arguments Cheese used here, I'm not actually doubting the run. Wp btw, that's some quality gameplay you gave us there

Mr. Cheese, question... for the bowzer sub star, can he just take the bunny star and do the blj trick on the stairs to get to bowzer? Haven't played in a while...
I think it's weird that every time someone gets a WR, there's always some rando who says "THEY CHEATED". I'm *not* a speedrunner, but I've watched enough videos that I think I could notice anything glaringly obvious. But yea, there's zero reason for him to have cheated.

I know nothing of this game I just watch Cheese every now and then but can someone link me to the reddit post of them talking about it I know the mods said yep good run its the WR I just want to know where the other guy is coming from
Being 16 isn't impressive people say kids are impressive, they have the whole summer off and don't work a job they go to school for 8 hours than can play games all day
Its still impressive... did you not have a job during the summer when you were 16? You are shitting on a kid whos A.) way better then you will ever be and B.) Adults can do the same thing if they so choose to so your point does not make any sense. C.) it is almost more impressive then some one as old as Cheese doing this just off the fact Cheese has more time and practice doing so... your logic is fundamentally wrong and very weird to just put down a kid who did something pretty cool at a pretty young age
16 year olds have a lot of free time imo so it doesn't surprise me hims a bb 🍼 I still don't think 16 star runners get enough respect, it's the most shit on category imo
He turns off his cam bc he doesn’t like people to see him walking around? That makes no sense. It is suspicious that he turns the cam off at 9:25 & at 14:08 right before 2 super difficult tricks. Tons of super skilled speed runners have been caught cheating Cheese so that’s not a logical defense. I’m not gonna claim he’s cheating, but it is suspicious.
@@LansolotCheese’s reaction to hearing the possibility of cheating was flippant & dumb. It’s one thing to say “I don’t think he cheated…” but to just dismiss it flippantly saying “who cares what Reddit says” & “he’s really good, why would he cheat?” was horrible reasoning.
@@mrpayne123 Look there is a whole moderation team that is checking these runs for even the smallest suspicious thing. This run is completely legit and if you would watch Suigis streams then you‘d know that he does that very often. That 14:50 was even faster than slips 14:50 which means that if you would‘nt count his other runs hes still the WR holder. And btw you dont even need a cam for a run to be legit. Its actually quite common for top Tier speedrunners to turn off the cam while performing difficult tricks on a good pace to take away the pressure to some extent. Cheese reacting to a guy who cheesed his run even more, haha... sry for bad pun.
Suigi has done some crazy stuff, i see, those movements are just... wow!
jesus this is clean
i wonder how the people picking up 120 star feel seeing that cheese calls himself trash lol
Good run!!!
But has it ever made you wonder what is possible for 120 stars? If you practiced each one like they did.
With odd ryhms and powerful reasoning.
120 star is not fucking different! You came across and amplified a detail nobody cares about! You are not lazy with practice wtf
Found another splice run that was left on RUclips from Speed Demos Archive but I think one of the moderators found FuniaSM64 cheated, this was 10 years ago but just an interesting to know what's left on RUclips by cheaters. :) by the way I would say Greensuigi is more coincident with his movement I swear.
link suigi in the description bro
I'm absolutely not saying Suigi is splicing (cuz I don't think he did) but all the arguments you used: already holding the record, having the verified skills required to do it without cheating, knowing that he would be caught if he did... all those, despite being very reasonable, were used in the past to defend players who ended up being cheaters (yeah I watched a few Karl Jobst videos). Explains why people are so suspicious, a few of those and you get trust issues. Well that and the need for drama ofc
I think its fair to say that the fact that i literally cried at the end is proof enough lmfao
@@Suigi Ofc, I'm only being a bit rethorical about the arguments Cheese used here, I'm not actually doubting the run. Wp btw, that's some quality gameplay you gave us there
@@Suigi crying doesnt mean its real 🤣 i do think its a legit run lol. anyone can easily catch a spliced run. so i dont see where the controversy is coming from
@@Suigi your amazing btw 👏 go take the 120 star record
yeah, remember that schmooey situation on clone hero? suigi definitely is legit, i do not question that, but we've already seen in the past that those arguments have fallen flat on some cases
Camera off during BLJs?
Mr. Cheese, question... for the bowzer sub star, can he just take the bunny star and do the blj trick on the stairs to get to bowzer? Haven't played in a while...
In theory yes, but sblj (and consequently ddd skip) isn't allowed in 16 star so it wouldn't count as a 16 star run
@@robfortune6 makes sense. Thank you for the explanation!
I think it's weird that every time someone gets a WR, there's always some rando who says "THEY CHEATED". I'm *not* a speedrunner, but I've watched enough videos that I think I could notice anything glaringly obvious. But yea, there's zero reason for him to have cheated.
I would just like to say, i follow a lot of channels without actually subcribing to them. But i rly enjoyed your reaction to this run. Its the first movie of yours i wathc and it was No bullshit, but decent commenting without a lot of bullshit overreacting comments. So here take my sub. Looking forward to your future movies.
"we really are lazy compared these runners" you mean you, simply and every other 120 star runner except for liam...
to get 120 star wr you have to have 120 years old
What's going on just started watching your videos heard about you before but just recently started watching your videos and dude you are quite impressive at SM64, kudos to you my friend great videos by the way keep up the good work I plan on joining as a member soon things are a little tight right now but still love the videos Man awesome job
"Only they can understand" ya like we don't have actual accomplishments to look back on as opposed to beating a fucking 20 year old video game fast for e points
Superb gameplay haha
Free the rainbow.
Some one in the video said that someone else said this is a cheated run? I know nothing of this game I just watch Cheese every now and then but can someone link me to the reddit post of them talking about it I know the mods said yep good run its the WR I just want to know where the other guy is coming from
12:00 imagine cheating a world record run when you already hold the world record. What would even be the point lol
Luv u cheese
Suspicious kid thats for sure... i really hope he is legit.
And?
16 year olds have a lot of free time imo so it doesn't surprise me hims a bb 🍼 I still don't think 16 star runners get enough respect, it's the most shit on category imo
no te entiendo nada pero me gusta ver tus videos ❤️
He also had a few 3x runs into BitS so it was just a matter of time that he gets a low 4x. He literally got a 14:50 in a Live Event in front of cheese and other top tier runners. (Sorry for my bad english, its not my mother tongue)
having a webcam is not a requirement to validate a run... only the vod is analyzed....
Can anyone explain to me why timing starts when the game boots up? Is there a reason? I would think that the timing would start when the player had control of Mario.
Thanks
No real reason, thats just how they always have done it
They did that from the start and no real reason to change it after this many years I guess
0:08 I've said this before, I'll say it again, and mark these words. Carpetless is viable rta and will be necessary for the wr
Its not rta viable, and not necessary for wr. The current setup, we have for carpetless, will not be done in runs. People always underestimate the difficulty of it. you gotta remember, only 3 ppl have done it so far. And its been a thing for years now
@@geek_007 Give it a few more years
@@SomeoneSomewhere42069 again, i dont think you understand how insanely hard carpetless is. not even in 10 years runners will do it, unless there is a more rta viable setup.
This comment aged well
little did they know…
I see another 120 star world record coming this year by Simply! Mark my words!
Simply hardly does runs anymore. He’s a streamer now.
@@dsrecs All he streams is Mario though
@@jtaiv2798 Yeah!
@@jtaiv2798 People just HAVE to disagree. ALL the fucking time.
You could also just have said the exact same thing about Liam back in the day and he broke the world record TWICE! Just let me believe, ok! Let me support witth passion and shut your face!
Hey! I was in the intro
Can you react to Bubzia's blindfolded wr run. Awsome new strats. Hes insane 🙈😱😊
I’m willing to bet he’ll get sub 14:30
Gah damn!
