@@kpcsr415 I did too until they developed mixers with a cut curve. I suspect Hamster style DJaying was probably invented this way since one of the line switches would force you to cut that way.
Turning the bass down to zero and the mid up just a touch on the channel you are scratching on helps avoid the thud you get when you touch the record and makes the scratch a little sharper.
I’ve been DJing for 8 years and just now really trying to learn more difficult scratch techniques.. thank you so much for Skratch Skool! You’re an excellent teacher!! Also your my favorite DJ behind DJ AM
That's why old school DJs would use the line switch (as a transforming crutch). Aladdin famously did (although he was so gifted he got a pass). That's what made Jeff so special. He was so clean his scratches back then sounded like the DJs today.
unfortunately the contour and extra fader options are not present to most mixers...there is of course the Innofader which has some the ability to set the curve and tightness.
Back in the the day we used the line in / phono switch to get those quick cuts!
That is considered cheating. No real DJ would be caught dead doing that
@@spincitynyc809
He’s right though. Many DJs used that switch for cutting in the 80’s.

Yeah and it created a unique sound. Even with crossfade curves they can't match that sound.
I'm getting back into djing after like 15 yrs of not. You have helped me understand things that I just, kind-of "felt" back then! Much appreciated

this is a super lesson. Very clearly and without music, so it's better to hear what's what. Thanks.
Man every time I see you on your decks I feel really good about the new decks I got this year ✊🏾😎
Keep the knowledge coming.

Excellent tutorial. Have you ever battled D.J. Qbert?
The last mixer that I bought was a Numark M2. It has "slope" on it rather than "contour "(which I imagine is the same concept).
unfortunately the contour and extra fader options are not present to most mixers...there is of course the Innofader which has some the ability to set the curve and tightness.
what can i do when i don't have the fader contour on my mixer ?
thanks for helping
That shirt is DOPE!!!
Took the words right outta my mouth my man

Trying to get my mixer same height as turn tables, what do you hv yours, sitting on?
Dope!!! Fire!!
Hi. is there any option to increase slope of crossfaders cut for scratching without crossfader setup option in mixer
Not exactly what i was expecting, but effective. I was expecting to learn how to hook everything up between the tables and the speakers. 😆
I have an old Numark DM 950 2 channel. How do I adjust the crossfader to "open"(for lack of a better term) like your Rane?
sunscribe my channel
2 questions. how far do you have to cross when transforming and 2, how can I learn from you in person!?
How long did it take you to learn to scratch with that type of fader
Freaking technology has come a long way.
Yea I had to use WD 40 and hit my Fader with a hammer LOL
@@georgemapp2855 ahaha true!
Hi! how do i remove the click from the crossfader? it's very annoying while mixing
Will this work with any mixer
What mixer are u using
Hey bro. Please can help me... am using ddj sz2 but the cross fader is not responding for scratching what can I do to fix it
If you mixer doesn't have the feature of changing the curve, can you do it in serato? (Asking for a controller; Hercules JogVison)
can you scratch with a behringer djx700
Can I scratch without this contour button??? I don't seem to have it on my mixer
If you had a choice between the rane 62 and the pioneer s9 which would you buy
The fader on the pioneer s9 is straight butter imo.
the Rane 62 has better features and is super clear and clean
Do you have strach samples you using
Raymondo Wimberly sbtrkt wildfire is the beat
Good shyt
✊
Can anybody recommend my scratch DJs to check out?
what beat was that
Think it was some kinda slowed down version of going back to cali by ll cool j
james dean sbtrkt - wildfire
Hello Skratch Bastid. If your girlfriend is a dj she should call herself Skratch Beeatch!
I don't see that many right handed dj's
Anti_ race_ it depends on what hand you're comfortable using to scratch, I'm right handed scratch with left use my right on the crossfader
Lesson 1. Get an innofader
easy when you have a 2k machine
Nice I'm crap compared to u lol
badest
Awesome thanks 🙏🏽
