Depends on what you're doing, I suppose. In RPG gaming, the extra space just increases field of view so that you can catch things with your peripheral vision, as you would do in real life. You can still move the mouse around just as much for even better visibility of your surroundings. I can see where it might be kind of a pain for graphics design, though.

I have the LG 34 with gsync. Awesome for games which I don't play that often unfortunately. Main use is for software development where I need two tabs open + another for file browsing/AI prompts. So the IDE takes at minimum 3/4ths of the screen which leaves a small space to click on Slack/other open app. Since I do FE development, I have the browser + dev tools in another monitor which isn't ideal so thinking about the 49" but.. unless I can get a decent return for selling my 34, gonna wait for a few years as the current one cost about 900 EUR.

The biggest difference between VA and IPS is contrast ratio, I would prefer IPS over VA. As for streaming I really like it. I have my game in the center with streaming tools / chat on each side

@@patricecomedy My situation was quite different than most so my advice has to be taken with a grain of salt but: 1. At that point I was using a GTX 1070, which was not capable of running games at higher settings on this monitor. I needed to run everything on low or medium to have good FPS. 2. I didn’t have a desk and was using a couch and I was tired of moving AROUND the monitor to get up and sit down. This is just my situation though. 3. I HATED not being able to full screen two videos at the same time like you can with two monitors. If I wanted to full screen a RUclips tutorial or something, it would center, and take up the entire display. In practice, this meant I wasn’t able to full screen a tutorial on one monitor while gaming on the other. Which meant I was looking at ads, the tops of comment sections, and a bunch of other junk I didn’t need. This made me feel like I had LESS usable space. I hated it. 4. I now have a desk and two 34” 3440/1440 UltraWides. This is COMPLETELY overkill, but I wanted my monitors to match because it would’ve bothered me. I have more screen space than I know what to do with, it looks awesome as a wrap around on my L desk, and I have my full screen options back. At the end of the day, a 34 or slightly larger is great for gaming. I just can’t ever imagine a single monitor with how I multitask. I’m now using a 4070Ti which can run games well on it, but I would never consider going back to the 49’ even if it were given to me for free. It’s a beautiful display, but it’s limitations are real breakers for me. A 34-38 gives you just as much of an immersive experience as the 49 will.
What I'm wondering about is this. I know you can set up your screen window so that you can for example play games in the middle, whilst having browsers open on each other side. But does that make the game you're playing displayed in fullscreen windowed mode, windowed mode, or full screen? Because I kind of want a 49", but not if I only can have the game in windowed fullscreen or something like that, because then the game won't run in 144hz?
I am wondering the same thing. I have a 34inch ultrawide. However, one thing to note, for instance, in WZ2, if you go fullscreen bordeless, then it automatically sets your frames and you have no control. Butttttt, in nvidia control panel, you can control how many frames a non fullscreen app/game can use so that you could technically still get 144hz in fullscreen borderless. I think it depends on the game you play and your nvidia settings. Feel free to reply if you want to chat and I could screen record or maybe show you a live example of my 34inch ultrawide.
