This is MY hood. West Adams! I grew up with the Harpys and Rollin 20's. I played football against the original Dead End Boys on Walton and 29th. My hood was Leonardos, Vermont Avenue School, El Rey Tacos on Vermont and Adams. One day we were playing against some of the Dead End/Harpys at Exposition Park and a carload of 18street vatos rolled up. The Dead End homies told us to pause the game. All I can say is that game came to an end quick and we ran back to the hood! 🤣😂 Never had any Racial politics with the HPS in those days. Always solid. Like he said, it was about respect. I have a lot of respect for HPS. I was born in their neighborhood and I grew up respecting them. They would always look out for the people in the hood.
I loved hearing this brown brother share his experience. Please upload a longer interview and it would be great to expose more untold stories in detail about the abuse, harassment and racial profiling that the Rampart gang would do against not only gang members but brown people, Central American and Mexican, that lived in these areas during the 90s and 80s.

In the 90’s, it was wild. Harpy’s was surrounded by savages. Harpys we’re about that life, and they stood their ground, but they weren’t the toughest. They were surrounded in a 3 mile radius by MS, 18 (different clicks), Drifters, Eazy Riders, Play Boys, Mid City, Street Saints, Street Villains, Loco Park, 21St, 22St, 29st, 36St, 38St, ATC, 42LC, to name a few. In the 90’s, is when MS and 18 was deep and craziest. Ey, to this day I don’t stop by the AMPM gas station on Vermont and 21st. I know of 4 people that got their head blown off at that gas station. The Adams park was not a place you wanted to be at, after 5 pm.

Kids don’t even know what CRASH was like. Some of them loved to pull your shirt up while searching you and push you down so your chest was getting burned on the hood of their car, on a hot summer day you’d get burned pretty good, they’d have you interlock your fingers and then squeeze all your fingers together, I HATED THAT! Or when they see you with a brand new white T-shirt on they’d love to make you lay on the dirty ass ground and ruin your new shirt. Man they knew all kinds of dirty little tricks that they couldn’t ever get in trouble for. I wonder how many people remember that.
Q-vo homie, saludos y respeto. I remember growing up in the late 80's and 90's with CRASH Unit picking you up and dropping you in a different neighborhood. I was left in RSL or TST hood after being released from LAPD Rampart.
