Soak up all those moments you can with your pops man. My dad, my fishing partner of 35 years passed in early February. I would give anything in the world to go out with him one final time. Great video man.
One thing I fear most... I have only recently come to know my dad much.. I'll loose him not ever knowing him well and he was around my whole life.. wild how he never interacted with his own son of the same name.. I'm Jr.. I spend every minute I can with my 9 yr old son.. I want him to know everything about me.. my dad is 68 this year.. I'm afraid of the phone call I'll get saying he's passed.. he is 14 hours away.. all alone, still
I lost my dad in January of last year. He had just turned 70. He first took me fishing when I was just 4 or 5 years old. Fished with him for years. Would give a lot to fish with him one more time. Enjoy every minute with your dad. You just never know when it might be your last fishing adventure with him. God bless
Awesome video of fishing and good company. All the pickerels I have caught always slam it. Caught one a couple of weeks ago in back water of lake Murray SC. A really nice young game warden was there checking license said they had never seen one. I Was trying to catch a cat and I could here you say, MOVE TO THE MUCK MAN. I did and caught a 7 pounder. Thanks Spencer.

Awesome video ! Love seeing ya fishing new spots and new species ! Getting your game up on all the fishes ! Makes ya appreciate the other types of fish.
This video sure looked like fun. Nice weather, nice people and nice bite. Adds up to great viewing for us. Thank you for sharing your trip with us. Stay safe.
Reminds me of a couple places I fished years ago. Did a lot of wading, retrieving lost jigs, and if the bite was off would hover/swim under the waterfall in warm weather. Caught some nice sized snappin' turtles that were good eating, too.
great videos great fishing great attitudes truly enjoy your shows,,,,,,thankyou,,,,oh and woodrow.....he's awesome....go woody.a fisherman's best friend
Oh yeah! Me and my two sons used to be spillway aficionados years ago. We caught a lot of quality current fueled fish and made a lot of lasting memories. ♥
First ever chain pickerel; I’ll be darned. I caught a nice one out of the Des Moines river 6 or 7 years ago whilst walter fishing by Frasure, first and only one I’ve ever seen.
Hopefully I can get him on the water more this year. He's always been more of a hunter than an angler, but every year we get out a bit more and I really enjoy it.
I hope ya do too man. Every year my dad and I fish a little more, and I really enjoy it. I hope to time a cool bite down there for real this year haha. Time will definitely tell.
Love your vids. Here is some free annoying technical fish info; Essox is a genus within the pike family called "Esocidae" by dweebs. As Pyne pointed out, the redfin (or grass) pickerel is a smaller species in genus Essox, and even smaller things called "mudminnows" (genus Umbra) are in the pike family (Esocidae).
If I didn't have such debilitating anxiety I'd book a trip with you in Iowa. It's weird how similar the fish look there down south as opposed to the midwest with difference names. Thanks as always for sharing brother!! 👍🏽👊🏽✊🏽☺💯
It's funny cuz I felt the same way, even with the fish in the amazon. I suppose there's similar biological niches in rivers regardless of region, and fish evolve to fill those niches and often are similar. Man I'm a nerd haha
Nice variety that’s like the Connecticut River where I am! We get everything from trophy carp to stripers to channel cats and walleye and everything in between. You would crush it out here. ✌🏻
I caught 3 bowfin during a catfishing session summer of 2021 on the Wisconsin side of the Mississippi. I was upset that they were not cats, but the fight made up for it.
Spillways are 100% the place to go to for fishing if you have one in your area. The amount of species you can find and the sizes of fish are so vast. Especially predator fish like Muskies
Snaggy spots like that spinner baits work good because the hooks are on a stiff wire facing up. You will get snagged but not as bad. Bass and pike love them too.
I live in Western NY and some days going out for early spring crappie my dad and I run into nothing but these guys, sometimes it seems like they follow you. We always threw them back until a couple years ago when my friend recommended making them into patties. Really nice sweeter? meat. No need to worry about bones. Grinders are pretty cool. I have an extra one if you want it.
Redfin and grass pickeral are both smaller than chain pickeral. I live in south Jersey and chain pickeral are everywhere. I literally catch hundreds in a day sometimes. I've caught chain pickeral to 10lbs. Grass pickeral only get to 1lb.
