I think its round because the ear canal is circular
I doubt the canal is a perfect circle and why restrict the vision, you might miss something in the area that is cropped off. It is just a unnecessary gimmick 🤔 Maybe they thought people would think they were pushing a rectangular tube with sharp edges into their ears?
