I just installed these on my Super Tenere. Omg! Such great quality especially for the price. Very well thought out, great construction and the velcro strap for the extra strap is the best! Very pleased with my purchase!
I've ordered the panniers and I got them in Europe very fast and I can say they are good made with High quality materials. I have to say although some issues that I've see, they could be way better without to raise the cost insanely but only the functionality. 1. They are not simple to use, as the presentation in the video try to convince us. With so many straps to tight and to roll every one of them after the tightening to drive in secure the bike after that, I feel more like a cowboy in the far West riding my horse, than a biker of a 21th century. Simple is when even a 6 year old child can do it. 2. If we accept the situation with the straps, it would be way better to made them in different colours (light grey, black, red) to make it easier to see which strap is for which use in a blink of an eye. (No extra cost) Especially when it is a bit darker, it is difficult to find the right one at once. 3. I didn't like that the side compression straps are for two purposes at the same time. To compress the pannier, and to stabilize them on the racks. (I use them with other racks than Tusk without a mounting plate. There isn't any for BMW ) When the panniers are fully loaded and the straps are tight is ok. When I take something out of the panniers, then is everything loose and I have to tight them again. These two functions are not compatible at the same time. This cost time on the way. When they're not fully loaded, they don't keep their shape, if I want them also stabil on the racks, and it doesn't looks nice to. Light hard sheets on the bottom and sides of the panniers, could be maybe a solution. As a conclusion beyond this 3 minor issues, I would say, they are not bad and I would suggest them to everyone who wants to have soft panniers, not expensive, well made, nice looking, not so big, but not so small also. Anyway some of the issues can be solved afterwards setting hooks on the back of the panniers to hook them on the rack, or making light PVC sheets for sides and bottom of the panniers, or attaching something colourful on the existing straps. Some industrial design ideas from Europe, for the next model for free😉
Santa in the FedEx truck just delivered mine today! [on my birthday] 🤘 Can't wait to blow this popsicle stand [work] and get em' on my WRR. Great product[s] / service / shipping as always guys! Thanks! 👍 Sam -
It would have been nice to see the actual routing with the 4 straps to the rack, and adjusting the 1.5in straps over the bike. I just put mine on, but need to adjust the top straps so the buckle isn’t on the seat itself. These look like they will out live me, build quality wise. I’m going to look at making some ‘quick’ connect system.
Well, I have an '18 Honda AT/AS/DCT and, I just purchased the Tusk Pilot Pannier bags and, the Tusk Pannier racks. I haven't even had a chance to start to mount the racks on the bike yet but, that will be tomorrow. But, of the two videos I've seen by Rocky Mtn. ATV/MC that include info on the Pilot bags, and how to mount them, I have to say, those instructions are bit on the weak side. Chase has shown only ONE STRAP when demo-ing how to install these to a rack. I'm gonna assume there's more than one strap holding each bag on, correct? I've not taken the instructions out yet and checked all those out. That will be tomorrow also. So far, I really like the construction of the Tusk Pilots. I think it's very high quality with high quality materials. I have no idea how much I'll use these bags but, I feel I need to have something on the bike to carry a mild amount of gear for various rides of various lengths. I'm anxious to get these all on and cinched down. I'll figure out the mounting system, no doubt about it. But, I do think a tad more detail could have been shown and or explained in the total install. But, thanks for the video. Scott
Ordered a set today to replace my iffy SW Motech soft set. Very excited to try them out on a couple BDR's this year (and side note: the black/red/gray is a fantastic color combo) Quick question; is it OK to treat the exterior fabric with a waterproofer such as Nikwax?
Is there any way that these bags can be used with the 'quick release' system / plate that you show on the Olympus bags? I like the size of these, but the LOVE the quick release setup to remove the bags on the Olympus bags.
Guys, there's a "But wait.. There's more" issue there.. These bags were meant to be secured to the pannier rack tubing. To make them 'quick release', there's 1 more step than just mounting them to the removeable center frame.. Another 'mount' would be needed.. There's a 'soft bag mounting kit' specifically for mounting soft-bags.. Not included / Sold separately. The quick release frames mount to them first w/ the included hardware [same hardware needed if mounting hard bags/cases] Once those mounts [big flat plates with holes & slots in them] are mounted, you'd be able to them mount the bags to the plates. Straps would go through the slots and cinch down tightly. After the bags are mounted, the 3 pieces = 1 unit. That could then be snapped in/out of the pannier rack - like you're hoping for. On their site - search for: "TUSK PANNIER SOFT LUGGAGE MOUNT " The kit includes another set of quick release frames and the mounting plates. Part# 1885080001 I would have had to order them also, but, I opted for something different.. I have some 1/2" thick commercial/industrial composite cutting-boards that I'm going to mount instead. Then cut custom slots on it for the straps.. [I have a few other 'camera bags' that I'd also like to mount] The actual kit looks really nice though! Sam -
Those are the Tusk Bottle Holders. The second link in the video description will take you to a kit with the panniers and bottle holders. Or you can check out the Tusk Bottle Holder Kit here: www.rockymountainatvmc.com/parts/tusk-bottle-holder-kit-p
I've bought some Nelson Rigg saddlebags and tank bag in the past and BOTH of them tore where the straps connect to the bags. The bags aren't bad but the build quality is questionable. I've been seeing your guy's new bags though and am really interested in trying them out.. I'm just wondering if you guys use heavy duty threading or double/triple stitch the vital points of these bags? (I'm talking about the rackless ones, I believe called Excursions)
Ordered these and realized immediately that they are only useful if they are always entirely full. If you take anything out, or want to go pick something up, they are no longer mounted securely. You have to remount the bags every time you change the amount of gear in them. NOT useful for casual day to day use.
@@robertthompson1096 I mean, it is only a matter of tightening or loosening them but its 4 mounting straps, 2 compression straps and the 2 roll top clips on each bag. And the mounting ones are not the fastest. When I take my jacket out, it takes a solid 2-3 minutes to re cinch everything so the bag does not flop around. I just wish they had the mounting straps attach to the back instead of the front, it would have solved this issue.

how come y'all didnt put molle webbing on both sides? that would have been ideal.

Quick release?
What's the part number or link to the dry bags that fit best in these panniers?
When is the Idaho ride video coming!? 😬
Can we use this bag on Harley Iron 883 ?
do you have pannier rack for ktm exc 250, or 500?
you guys ship items to Chile?
Love your product! Does anybody import them in Europe?
He says ‘we’ a lot. He introduced himself as an employee of Rocky Mountain Motorcycle ATV.
Do they own TUSK?
Pretty sure Tusk is Rocky Mountain's product, yes
Yes. Tusk is a Rocky Mountain ATV exclusive brand.
Will these work with ktm racks on the 1290 super adventure r?
These should work with the KTM Case Carrier.
I have a Tenere 700 and would like to use bags like this without having to install a rack. Anybody using these on a T7 without a rack?

There is just molle webbing on one side of the bags.
