I agree, the Rift is not nearly as heavy as the Adamas and it doesn't bother me. I have been carrying a couple heavier knives recently and love the solid feel.
I think that's a valid argument. There is a lot more that goes into the use and enjoyment of a knife beyond some arbitrary weight limit. In practice, the average person doesn't care if a knife weighs 3 ounces or 5 ounces. At some point it may play a role, but I agree that getting hung up on weight is short sighted.
@TheDishD Thanks man - she is a beaut! I think these screws might not be original (I got the knife used). I have some black screws that BM gave me when I sent my Griptilian in for service, I should have thrown those on there. Like this knife a lot but totally agree they should lighten her up a bit. Thanks for stopping by dude, always a pleasure.
I do too - although at some point a knife can simply become to heavy for me to want to carry (eg, the Adamas was too heavy for me to want to EDC). Everyone is different. That said, can't say I have watched this review since it went up 10 months ago - my approach to reviews and my own preferences may have changed since that recording. At any rate, thanks for watching.
Disassemble this Rift as well as that previously shown Griptillian and swap the blades. Unfortunately you would loose the cool body of the Rift, yet you would blend the blade of the Rift with the superior grip and hand feel of the Griptillian. Rift-Tillian? Whatever the name, I feel it would be a fantastic knife
Great reveiw there BR! the Rift is a swet looking folder, its got to have one of the best looking g-10 scales from the factory! 5oz is pretty heavy for a folder this size, yes BM lighten the liners pls! also why didnt BM use black coloured pocket clip screws?? it might be a lil on the dear side but your getting BM made in the US quality, keep up the awesome reviews brother, best wishes and be safe
Yeah but the adamas is nearly 8 ounces... I carried the presidio and wasn't at all troubled buy the 5.6oz. I also carried the bone collector 15020 and the 6oz didn't bother me either. I have the rift and the weight doesn't bother me one bit. Feels like a real tool, if you know what I mean.
I have only handled the 300SN in passing. I am not entirely sold on the 300 as the flipper action doesn't seem that great. The Rift is a nice knife - can't go wrong with it if you are between the two.
has it developed any blade play over time either up-down or side to side ? Ever had any omega spring break on you ? I'm about to pull the trigger on this knife.
@RedGladius Ah the 710 - and you got a special one at that! Love both of em but the 710 is definitely a classic. Will have to shoot a review of that one too.
@FatGuyWithAKatana It could very well be hollow ground - sometimes it's tough for me to tell! But yeah, this is a sweet knife a little more substantial than the Griptilian but very solid. Nice knife for sure.
@4x4boogie That sucks man! I have had really good luck with all my Benchmades but I guess they aren't always perfect. I agree at the price they should be pretty much perfect.
hah! Very cool idea! It would be interesting to see them shoe horn this blade shape into the griptilian body - it would make for an interesting conversation piece for sure! :)
What is with all this weight minimizing? I personally like a nice hefty knife. When knives are big and light, feels like a chinese kid put it together.
I feel that its all nutnfancy's fault. He hypnotized the knife and gun community that weight is strictly bad. So some people don't have any experience with knives and yet they already know they hate the heavy ones...
I'm definitely a fan of the sheep's foot style blade, it just looks good to me. a beautiful handle too.
the rift and the grip are two of my favs smooth as butter

Warren Osborne of Osborne Knives - a custom knifemaker out of TX. If you search "Warren Osborne Knives" his website should pop up.
Thanks for the comment man! I agree.
this is the most handsome knife benchmade has ever put into production

@4x4boogie Me too man - I have really come to appreciate both the quality and the customer service.

Love the review man! I just spotted this knife lastnight online, and I've gotta have it!
Who is Osborne of Osborne Design? I've never heard of him and couldn't find it on google

@LookieChannel Thanks man. I agree they are expensive, but it's a nice knife made in the USA which will add to the price. Definitely a solid folder.
9 years later that knife is still very good !!
I've been waiting for this review! Thanks! :)
Almost got this instead of the bone collector but it was a bit pricey for me at the time it's a sick blade which I will eventually get lol
has it developed any blade play over time either up-down or side to side ? Ever had any omega spring break on you ? I'm about to pull the trigger on this knife.
They made a limited CF handled version...I'm kicking myself for not picking it up!
@AtPeacePiece Yeah man this is just a sweet looking knife. Thanks for watching.
I like almost every Benchmade design, I do not like their prices :-D This one looks sweet with the strong sheep foot tip and looks light too.
@RedGladius Ah the 710 - and you got a special one at that! Love both of em but the 710 is definitely a classic. Will have to shoot a review of that one too.
Thank you! Its a very satisfying knife, I think you will enjoy it!
@JohnReviewer112 Hey John - you can't go wrong either way but I really like how this one looks with a black blade. It will show more wear however.
I agree man - both are awesome.
@FatGuyWithAKatana It could very well be hollow ground - sometimes it's tough for me to tell! But yeah, this is a sweet knife a little more substantial than the Griptilian but very solid. Nice knife for sure.
i feel like a am the only one who loves the feel of a heavier knife
Nope - no problems with blade play or the springs. This is an especially solid axis lock folder due to the full steel liners.
@4x4boogie That sucks man! I have had really good luck with all my Benchmades but I guess they aren't always perfect. I agree at the price they should be pretty much perfect.
@sbyman96 I see one on Amazon for $125 but usually they go for around 150. At 125 I think it's a good deal, $150 is expensive, but still a nice knife.
Great knife, great review!
@perspicacity89 Thanks! My pleasure! :)
hah! Very cool idea! It would be interesting to see them shoe horn this blade shape into the griptilian body - it would make for an interesting conversation piece for sure! :)
@hugo2x Totally agree this is one of my faves.
@oromoto Thank you sir! :)
@JohnReviewer112 Just cardboard boxes and stuff? Hardly to, not at all.
@MrMAX4400 Thanks Max. I definitely agree - you can't go wrong with this one. :)
@JohnReviewer112 Very cool! Congrats!
By far my fav. Benchmade...(along the 760 hehehehe)
@thelockkk Thanks man!

@fredde90210 haha yeah man there are too many to love! It's a beauty.
Thank you very much :)
This isn’t even a super heavy knife for its size, it has a bigger blade than a Buck 110 and it weighs tons less
@darkchild57 Ah man that would have been awesome!
@thomassmyth65 Haha I know the feelin man - all in good time... all in good time. ;)
ordered a Ganzo 710 I cant afford to buy American knives.
I disagree, Danny
