Many of us have dreamed of being a professional athlete, some of us for the paycheck alone, and others for the chance to compete. It’s always surprising when an innocent looking athlete risks everything to get an extra leg up on the competition by cheating. It’s even more surprising when their methods are caught right on video. We’ll introduce you to 10 athletes that were busted cheating on video. You might not think of fencing as a sport with a lot of foul play, but Boris Onishchenko was once a respected Olympic fencer, until he was caught fixing his match in a rather diabolical yet ingenious way. Some people come down hard on cheaters, while others rationalize that everyone cheats, it’s just that they all don’t get caught. Pitchers Will Smith and Brian Matusz were both caught with greasy substances on their arm that they tried to transfer surreptitiously to the baseball. Joe Niekro couldn’t fool one umpire, who noticed him being a little funny with the ball. After he demanded that he empty his pockets, an emery board and a piece of sandpaper came flying out! Niekro insisted that he was just tending to his nails in the dugouts between innings, but for some reason we just don’t quite believe him. Julie Miller decided that the best way to win an Ironman competition was to not run the entire distance. Unfortunately for her, she had her gold medal taken away when she was busted right on video not completing the required number of laps.

The badminton one isn't exactly cheating (not saying it's a good thing though). The players noticed a loophole in the rules, which doesn't say they have to play their best, and abused it.
It's like tanking to intentionally get a weaker playoff opponent based on seeding

Caught cheating on live tv, except the majority of these were not caught cheating on live tv...
How so? The Olympics are filmed, the iron man was apparently filmed or they wouldn't have been able to go back through footage, car races are filmed, baseball is live, American football is filmed, it's irrelevant that viewers found out the fact that they were injuring people intentionally was not live. The only one that couldn't have been live was the transgender competing as a woman. Not to mention in all of these there are spectators, automatically making it 'live'
except it is not cheating to throw a Game intentionally, to get better results in the end or an easier opponent.
They weren't caught live. The majority of these people were caught cheating after the event happened. The Paralympic team won 5 medals, the badminton match throwing was caught afterwards, the Saints putting bounties on players went on for a while before it was investigated. The events happened live, but they weren't caught live.

I would say that the Spanish basketball team pretending to be disabled was the grossest display of misconduct on the list. That goes beyond just cheating. That's straight up disgusting and insulting to disabled people who try as hard as they can to get to play on that stage. Makes me sick.

The point of greasing the ball isn't for improved grip, but to instead throw a spit ball. Due to the added substance the ball gains a hard to read bobble when thrown. The pitch has been illegal in the majors since an unpredictable spitball hit a player in the head and killed him.

No, she WASN"T on TV and that was the problem. They checked all the cameras later and at many of the checkpoints she wasn't in any of the footage. She jumped in late in the race.

I love that the guy who threw the race had a good motive. He wanted his teammate and possible friend to look better, and make himself look worse.
This video does not tell the whole story. It was an order from the team principal - which then later caught and punished by that racing governing body (FIA). There is a long video out there explains the whole thing. Quite fascination story.
