    In the Philippines, we or maybe I call them sea grapes. They taste slimy, crunchy and a little bit salty, and some people put vinegar on it to make it slightly taste better in their opinion. It is affordable and selled in fish markets or go you could go out in the sea in low tide to find them (I think)

    It's a really common food item in Southeast Asia. Just like he said, when you eat them, it's like eating a sea water jelly candy with collagen coating. it's extremely crunchy and the outer skin kinds of slimy.

      It taste nothing like grapes, it has a very ocean taste, like drinking sea water that's not salty. Kinda fishy even. If you're gonna have them I'd suggest dipping into lime juice first

    Here in the philippines, we eat that with sliced tomatoes and onions. I usually pair it with foods with sauces like adobo, giniling and etc. I eat it to taste both sweet and salt at the same. Its tasty and I love it. ❤

    In Sabah Malaysia, we put water, lime, bird's eye chilli (as much as how you prefer it) and salt, we also put vinegar and or soy sauce but it's completely optional, and dip the algae in the sauce, try it out

    In Thailand, we call them sea grapes, or สาหร่ายพวงองุ่น. It is a normal cuisine that most seafood restaurants have here. I eat some every week and they are delicious.

    It's been a trend for a while in Korea to eat sea grapes with different sauces. It enhances the texture and the taste rather than it being too salty and yucky. My personal favorite is chogochujang (초고추장) hint of spice and sweet. 🤤

    these(Latok/Sea Grapes/Green Caviar) were first commercially cultivated here in the Philippines and they're mostly consumed by the elderly especially with vinegar or bagoong (fermented fish sauce)

    Sea grapes
    1 cup of white vinegar
    1 red onion (sliced)
    1 ginger (sliced into cubes)
    1 tomato (sliced)
    Red pepper (optional)

    It's a delicacy in some parts here in PH, and it's very rare. It's a good day if you have these too. The best way we eat it is by having it washed, and then dipped in _bagoong_ (i forgot the translation) with some cubed tomatoes and squeezed _calamansi_ (filipino lime). Where I live (other regions may have a name), we call those _arorosip_

      I was in Bantanes for 2 years. Coral is sadly illegal in the PH. So... sea grapes were a great alternative for aquarium sea plants! (IK corals aren't plants but they take the role of aquatic plants in freshwater)

    Here in the Philippines its called latô or Arocep,, it's a lil salty so we drizzle it with calamansi (little lime) or lemon to balance it out,
    But if you're NOT gonna eat it right away just keep it dry (put it on a stainer) then rinse it before you eat it. 🥰
