  • Learn how to create remarkable portraits by breaking glass with a hammer and chisel. You will observe in this video in the creative process the only person in the world who makes this type of paintings. Contemporary artists have soared beyond conventional media and traditional techniques in art. Today, even the most unusual things can be used as alternatives to canvas for painting.
More than an amazing feat, this video reveals that when we learn to look creatively at an object and see more than what appears in front of us, the wonder we can discover is endless. So today, think differently about the materials you throw away and reuse as many as you can. Start a compost bin, recycle your old bottles, and find ways to breathe new life into everything. “We must be willing to stop and look at things that no one else has bothered to look at. The simple process of focusing on things that are normally taken for granted is a powerful source of creativity.”
Berger was born on April 9, 1976, grew up in Herzogenbuchsee (Switzerland). He now lives and works in his own studio in Niederönz.He began his artistic explorations with spray paint before turning to other media. He studied and trained as a Carpenter. In fact, you will see his first works assembled with pieces of acrylic painted wood. He then goes on to create all kinds of unusual works of art. In general, he was always looking to find new ways to see all everyday materials.
He loved going through the car cemeteries to look for metal parts and all kinds of parts for his works, but he saw so many broken windshields that he confesses now that suddenly in some he noticed some figures and it was like he began to want to create something with these glasses. .
In other words, he is using that glass as the canvas of each one of you and the hammers that he uses are his brushes. The artist has spent years perfecting this method. “The first glass painting was created in 2016 while he was experimenting” “I was immediately excited about this possibility because I always strived to find a new form of representation. I like to create beautiful things through destruction.” Through three years of trial and error, Simon Berger has learned to find the fine line in brittle glass without breaking it, turning regular panels of the brittle material into remarkable works of art.
This proves to us what the ARTECONTODO Channel says: we can create ARTECONTODO.
Only that we have to learn to look at all kinds of objects and materials but with a very creative eye and we will be able to see much more than any person sees there.
Berger's material is that of glass, his lacerated portraits of him, engraved on glass, plunge the gaze into a meander of transparent lesions that he calls 'Morphogenesis'. Berger refers to this as "painting with fine directed strokes."
Inventor of this technique, his broken works evoke his fascination with faces. In safety glass, these motifs come to life and magically attract visitors
With a technique that distinguishes him from all other artists in the world, today he is able to make portraits engraved on glass. Although it may seem like pure vandalism, they are actually works of art. The artist argues that this type of work that he produces does not go unnoticed and that the engraved faces convey a suggestive image. What he wants to achieve with the portraits of him is the direct confrontation between the observer.
Breaking glass is normally seen as something bad, even taboo. But what if that destruction could be unbelievably beautiful?
"Human faces have always fascinated me," said the artist. “In safety glass, these motifs stand out and magically attract visitors.
The closer and shorter the strokes, the stronger the contrasts and shadows. In his hands, the hammer is not a destruction tool, but an effects amplifier. Berger, in particular, chooses glass panels as his canvas. Instead of using paints to draw portraits, he uses a hammer and chisel to create cracks in the glass. As a trained carpenter, he can deftly wield woodworking tools to create stunning pieces of broken glass art.
