The orochi part was actually kinda better placed. In the manga, the orochi part was back and forth cutting the gear5 reveal and luffy hitting kaido. Here, Animators compiled it and put it together so we can have (kinda) a non interrupted g5 transformation
it was def better placed than in the manga, but it still felt very dragged out imo not really that big a deal tho, what we did get of this first gear 5 clash was incredible

When I thought about it Zoan types typically transforms in order to show their power, but sometimes they do constantly embody the animal they have like Chopper. Chopper most of the time look like a human kid, so Luffy looks like he has Paramecia cuz he's constantly rubber. The Zoan transformation is actually the Gears, but he cant transform fully at first. So G2 would be heart transformation where his Heart pumps blood really fast, G3 would be bones transformation where he can inflate his bones, G4 would be muscle transformation where he enhances his muscles, and lastly G5 would be the total transformation in to a full Zoan animal, in his case human mythical zoan: Nika.
It's really funny to see the same reaction to the Hyori middle section that the manga reactors had to chapter 1044 when it came out. HYYYYYYYPE- oh guess we gotta do this for a bit- BACKTO HYYYYYYPE
You know a fun fact from what I've been told from a fellow fan and friend of mine who had created one peace was inspired not only from Dragon Ball which is based off of The Legend Of The Monkey King but also the rubber abilities were a inspiration from the classic Popeye the Sailor Man so seeing Luffy going all white and just muscling up and going Looney Tune it's sort of like a slight reference to Popeye the Sailor Man everytime he eats his spinach I mean if you think about it every time Popeye ate spinach not only did his muscles grow he could reshape his entire figure like rubber so it's so enjoyable seeing the classic tune comedy sound effects being used with this power up in other words you don't need a high-explosive flashy superpower Chi kind of style transformation with loopy what you need is just a free willed wacky Looney Toon reality power to win any fight
I guess Oda take a risk on this project coz the non ending highly debate that which is more entertaining anime or cartoon and oda fuse those two to end those stigma that's why oda is way different on those mangaka's coz no one can dictate what he wants to do just like luffy they both possess freedom

Human human fruit is base on (our) real life humans. We humans have the power of imagination, if we want something to be real. We put it out in the universe, if we want to fly, we build something that will carry us, if we want to go faster, we build cars to help us. If we want to believe in a higher power, we speak it into existence. We have free will, as humans. That why I love luffy power so much because it the freedom to creat, that what us human super power is.

until we see him literally do anything beyond crazy, the imagination statement could very well be a hyperbole. So far everythng he has done makes sense as its bouncy, having the elements of rubber, or just flexible and ridiculous in general. Not like he can just generate a black hole or reverse time (yet lmao)
Technically speaking the gum gum fruit is two devil fruit types in one cause when luffy goes Gear 2 to Gear 4 he is a Paramecia type but when he transform to the gum gum fruit devil awakening which is gear 5 the devil fruit type is the mythical Zoan human human model Nika
May be it is explained in the Manga better, but I still don't understand why its a Zoan fruit.... look up the definitions for Zoan vs Logia vs Paramecia.... it still sounds like its Paramecia but with Logia capabilities.
