Hi Will. The 2 tier motorway is called Tinsley Viaduct and has the M1 motorway at the top and local traffic at the bottom. The viaduct spans the Rother Valley. Legend has it that during the Cold War, the viaduct was the target for a Soviet nuclear ICBM, (missile), which would have vaporised the viaduct! Actually, the viaduct has suffered from structural problems for most of it's life and is nearly constantly in a state of repair. It was constructed by 'Box girder' construction, which was an experimental design at the time.
In 1973, I was shown how to do slump tests on concrete, made the mixer driver sweat in case his load was too wet or too dry and send him home with it. They didn't let me loose on that for real, though, I were just a youth. If your boat had been any bigger or frillier, you'd still be stuck in Huddersfield. Advantage of economy there.
Yeah they used to send the concrete off for testing then we'd pour it with a thumbs up. I would be stuck in Huddersfield shallow that's true. A home is what you make it. Cheers
'Ah mate' - ring that bell for James's cycles - means you must have passed bootiful downtown Bramall Lane - we'll be giving you the freedom of Shuffles now as well as the silver propellor - fantastic Will, Will's Way and (shush) the Tiller man !! PS should have put a bit of Joe Cocker on the roll !
I paid for a guy in Poundland for his shopping and that free bell was me getting paid back for my kindness. That's how it works if I give without thought of reward. If I put Joe Cocker on I would've had a copyright strike. I sat in his seat on a train once. Scruffy looking dude. Ha ha
Wow, you pack so much into the vlogs, this one especially, so great! I love all the history, meeting people and fellow travelers. You don’t just list off the bridge numbers! Heheee, bravo and thanks! 👍🏻👍🏻cheers Will
Nice one Will That lady give you a right fair piece of cake happy birthday to her and a free bell ,you know them silver props do they give you an actual silver prop ..it’s been hot down here Will it has not rained for 10 weeks now they reckon it might rain this week hope so Cheers Will Big up the tiller man🙂🔧⛳️✌️
That cake was something else. So delicious. What a nice surprise. Very hot up here but I'm still on water so it's ok for me. The farmers and gardeners need rain. I couldn't work in that heat in my old job. Wow so hot...The silver prop challenge is reaching 20 location to receive a plaque. Its not silver either. Ha ha should be after all the work getting it. Cheers Lee
Nice to see the birth place of Narrowboat Will. You say “bottom of the range” design. You have made the boat your own and I think it is just grand! You are proud of the gas valve cover and you should be. Good job, good vlog as usual!
Birth place of Wills way but I've made it into a GL model, Ha ha. Can you tell my breather valve worked. Ha ha. It's times like that I'm glad to be alive, Ha ha. Cheers buddy
A couple more bits about the Tinsley Viaduct? It was built by Cleveland Bridge & Engineering Co (much further up north), to give them some work (national politics). So, they had to transport all the steel sections by train from the northeast down to Sheffield instead of using all the local stuff (we used to have lots of it). The motorway (on the top deck) was troubled by all the steam from the three cooling towers at the 'Blackburn Meadows Power Station' (now demolished) and it used to freeze in the winter. So, they had to fit 'under carriageway heating' to help prevent accidents. Not sure where the meter was for that! 🤣🤣
Reminds me of Sheffield Steel, an album by Joe Cocker. Are you from the area Will or any hometown to go to, are you now fully detached as a world citizen? Sheffield looks very Europee-an, indeed it does. This Thursday I am leaving by Rotterdam-Hull ferry to go to Ripon rugby field, where the tenth European Katana motor weekend will be held, and there is enough time to visit all the places of interest you showed in your York and Ripon vlogs, thanks for that, Will! Bless you.
My birth town was Nottingham and I used to travel to Sheffield. I feel at home everywhere now. Ha ha I hope you have a safe journey and enjoy the sights as much as I did Umberto. Thankyou again for watching.

It's more like a GL version now. ha ha It's what you make it Stephen. Thankyou
I love your boat 😊
Ahhh thankyou Sharon.
That secluded endbasin must be pretty unique on the canals - it does give a sense of occasion at having done the entire length. Well done again.
Not many people go under that arch at the end and turn around either. I'm special...Ha ha Cheers again for watching.
Great vlog. Scary lock with water washing over stern.
I know I hope you can see why I made that fuel vent pipe now. Thanks Sheila.
Imagine stacked canals, would be mental!
Yeah on my previous vlogs I went over another canal similar to that. Thankyou for watching.
Hi Will. Scary with the water. Glad it worked out
My fiendish plan worked. Ha ha ha ha. HELLO KAT good night Kat.
Lovely vlog Will
Thankyou Richard. The a nice thing to say.
Nice one Will, its always interesting to see the canal in a city environment. That leaky locked a bit harzardous.
It was very leaky Glynn but my vent problem worked. Ha ha

I think it would be glaziers who make windows, not stone masons. Stone windows are less decorative!
Stone masons make the frames Ian!
How do you think the stone frames got there, certainly not from glaziers !!!!
