Agreed. It's obvious that those text messages were fabricated, but Sarah still feels uncertainty? Over what? If a cheap accusation like this is all it takes for her to lose trust, then it was only a matter of time before something else made her run off.
OP's mother is one of those women who uses her son(both of them) to compensate for a lack of male attention. She always either needs money or emotional validation from OP and Tim. Having a little bit of trouble getting on your feet is one thing, but the problem is, the mom is _always_ in trouble and expects her sons to bail her out. It's always take, never give.
I don't know maybe I am wrong but I think Sarah might find someone else better than OP. Maybe she is cheated on her it's just an excuse to save her name and leave the op. I will truly say be strong.
