@@Yayayabetbetbet she's saying in specific contexts like the styles of training shes using with Larry, full range of motion is not needed. That makes sense to me idk what part you find wrong about it
Yeah, but just like Mark Bell from Supertraining said, you can hit a PR every time in the gym if you do a new exercise. So he shouldn't really be bored, wright?
Dont be narrow minded. Free weights are the best ofcourse, but think all the small details that could win someone a title, by working out in ways that normal equipment simply can't provide. Honor the old school, appreciate the future.
Do u really think free weights are best?? If i really want to focus on a muscle there is nothing better than a specific machine and more like this ones... Is not about open ur mind, imagine an advanced specie comes to earth and a human told them to create a machine for muscle grow do u really think theu get a bar and a weight on sides... Think before u talk 😊 free weight are effectives but involve another muscles on every exercice... Not the best to focus.
They both have their place, Larry is strong yet could do heavy squats in complete safety while the lever arms could allow very quick drop or pyramid sets. The designs here are genius.
Range of motion (ROM) is still important so long as it doesn't compromise safety or your goal. Getting a good stretch and contraction means more motor units are recruited (= gains). ROM shouldn't be under emphasized but is also shouldn't be over emphasized. If you're simply trying to isolate a muscle then using full ROM may or may not be necessary. What I'm saying is, don't use this as an excuse to do quarter reps every set
@@MrThatAintFalco yeah that's good. Even when isolating a muscle though, you still don't necessarily (and probably shouldn't) need to shorten the ROM. Often you'll just provide a different emphasis on different parts of the ROM. In the video with the hammy curls part, she didn't want him doing full ROM because the load is brought onto Larry's lower back, not his hamstrings, and so it therefore becomes pointless when trying to isolate the muscle. She had him do the Nordic press ups which, in this instance, targeted the lower hamstring in a more shortened part of the ROM. The machine hamstring curls targeted him lower hamstring in a more stretched part of the ROM. Another instance would be when doing pec flies. Dumbbell pec flies target the pec in a stretched part of the ROM. Cable cross overs target the pec in a more shortened part of the ROM. You should still do the movements in full ROM where there is tension not the muscle, not just the part with the most emphasis. It depends on your goals as well. For me I'm a rugby player so my training is programmed towards strength, power and cardio/endurance. The only isolated movements I do are towards rehab/prehab. If I need stronger quads, I won't do quad extension, I'll do front squats.
@@hsaccount_ well, idk about you, but when I go to a gym and the machines just don’t really feel right for my body no matter what adjustments I make, it definitely hurts the workout. Yeah I’m natty I gained almost an inch on my biceps in the first 3 months arm wrestling and I was already a fairly advanced lifter. And my forearms gained a ton too I’m just not sure the measurement.
