Hey Jesse, awesome video! I'm using version 55.2, and I wanted to point out a small difference that might be helpful for other viewers. At the 22:50 mark, I needed to select each symbol, and then pick "Pin to Edge" (for the appropriate edge). Then click both lines of "Fix Size" under the Resizing menu. Hope this helps! :)
So glad the video helped, let me know if you have any other questions about Sketch 👍🏼

Nice, and is it possible to make it also functional in preview of the prototype??? - for example, on click change the element checkob form "checkbox-unchecked" to the "checkbox-checked" ???
I had to rush into using Sketch from an Adobe background, and I've found it incredibly frustrating that I didn't know that the overrides selected by size, not by Folder/Name. Thank you for the review and pointing that out. After playing with that, I noticed that the current version of Sketch lets you have symbols bleed off their artboards (checkmark and flag bleeding off the box and star artboards). I don't yet know if that would work out to best practices, but it allowed me to use the measurements of the only the checkbox for alignment instead of the whitespace to accommodate the larger optional elements.
In the new version of Sketch, the resizing feature has gone, it's been replaced with "resize to fit". There is no "pin to corner" or has it been moved elsewhere?
Thanks for the tutorial Jesse. I'm curious if you know of a way in which I can adjust the size of a rectangle inside a symbol? I'm making a progress bar and I want to adjust the amount of progress so I want to either make the bar longer or shorter depending on how much progress has been made in the section. I've been trying to figure this out for a couple of hours but I've noticed that shapes aren't dynamic like text in Sketch. Here's what I've tried so far, creating a rectangle as a symbol, nesting it under another symbol and then trying to adjust the width. The only way that I can adjust the width is if the rectangle isn't nested under any other symbol, however, I need it to be. Do you think there's a possible solution for this? I know you're busy but any feedback is appreciated!
I think your version may be too old. I think nested symbols and nested symbol overrides came in version 41. Sketch has a great upgrade policy www.sketchapp.com/store/renew/
At 22:50, my "Resizing" has a different look to it. Instead of the dropdown with Stretch, etc., to the right, it shows a diagram of a square with the only options being Fix Width and Fix Height. (screenshot: snag.gy/HXWVpY.jpg) How do I get the dropdown box like yours?
Sketch has updated recently, what you are seeing is the new method of "Pinning". Make it a fixed height and width and then tick the left direction to pin it to the left edge of the box and you should be good.

Thanks for being so positive 👍🏼
Thanks for covering the canvas issue. I was stuck on that. This is more than a nested objects tutorial!

There now called constraints www.sketchapp.com/docs/layer-basics/constraints/
Thanks! I've noticed a lot of bugs with resizing in Sketch.
Great video!! Thanks for sharing! What shortcut did you use to resize the text at 3:25?
Just grabbed the word size in the text panel and dragged it over 👍🏼
Thanks, Jesse!

At 9:40, how did you select the area to zoom in?
At 12:42, what shortcut did you use to copy the selected color and pasting it?
Command + and Command - zoom in and out, not sure on the color command probably Command C and Command V for coy and paste
awesome video
well done
Hello Jesse, I am using the version 3.8.1 of Sketch and I am struggling to create nested symbols. Is my version too old to do that?

Thank you, that was what I was thinking. Thanks for confirming my doubt.
Thank you!
how did you copy the ribbon color? was that a plugin?
I use a tool called colorsnapper
At 15:25 - how did you reveal that window?
Mark Montgomery that is the scale command which you can find in the top bar of icons or by pressing command+k
