I haven't listened Tom in a minute. I didn't realize he was trying to rewrite hip hop history or take credit for things people done before him.
It makes sense because his stan believes everything he says. I remember in the beginning he said he'd never go the route of buyinb designer clothes and jewelry. Once he started to blow up on RUclips, he started buying jewelry and designer clothes cause he felt he earned it. Face backlash from his fans so he said he we just trolling and it was all fake and he was kidding. The stans believed him.
And some of his stans started doing reaction videos. And they believe Tom startes political rap, and believe he paved the road for indie artists. And there is no debating with them.
So Mac really did his thing with diss, cause they all mad af. 😂
You just made me realize something. It seems like Tom's rap career follows a certain politician's political career in parallel. Appeal to your base; lie to your base; get your base to believe your lies; get your base to spread your lies... eerily similar.

What's interesting about hip hop is that every rapper is automatically assumed to be a battle rapper even though many have never done it. It's actually a specific skill. Tom is not a battle rapper. The only disses he's ever done were against Mac Lethal, who is a battle rapper. An analogy would be to expect every track runner to be a sprinter and compete respectfully in the 100 meter dash. Obviously, that makes no sense. So why expect Tom to compete against Mac Lethal in a battle when Tom doesn't possess those skills. That's obviously his choice to walk his own path just like every other artist. I'm sure Tom could work on those skills and perform well if he chose to but that's not his interest

Wonder how much Tom's music you know about. He's definitely not a political rapper. Maybe 10% of his songs are political. Tom has a lot of music that is not "political" but most people will never because it's on his albums. I won't go on about it but Tom definitely is a skilled artist.
