JP Neuvi's representation is more towards his Draconic side but EN Neuvi's representation is more towards his Humanity side. Both good, just depends on who likes which representation.
I always thought the JP dub was he's still trying to figure out being human and the EN he's already figured it out but he's a bit antisocial. Both did an amazing job. I think the biggest thing thay throws people off is his JP actor is known for roles with deep voices and is very stern. So seeing him play a softer role is something they are not as used too
say what you want about this scene, but honestly, I love it way more than the english ver. Imo, furina's jp voice suits her more than her eng one, both are good, but I feel like inori-san captured focalor's gentleness more than the eng ver, which sounded more... regal, for lack of better term. Which isn't necessarily bad, considering she technically is, but having a gentle voice really captures focalors' heart of gold personality. jp neuvi is sooo good- like one comment said, it depends on what representation you like; but I looove the idea of neuvi being more dragon-like than human, and so he's still learning to express himself, which is why he oftentimes cant handle his tears and feel so out of place in his own society (as his sq revealed), he doesn't know how to meddle with humans so probably nor their emotions, and I think his jp dub captured that wayy more than his eng ver did. either way, I like both! I just favor jp more ^^
For me, i like the english one better especially on the "i hope you enjoy the part you've played this 500 years", with a regretful voice despite showing gratitude for neuvillete. And even neuvilletes part after he was transferred the power and gave the final judgement, the sadness really deliver well, no matter how many times i watched the cutscene. This alone is one of my favourite part in genshin, with the other part was when Venti uses his archon power to show the adventurer imposter of his friend's mirage, and when zhongli saved xiao
I hate how if you think the English dub is better, you get hated, if you like the JP dub better, you're STILL hated. Like bro we have opinions?? They both aren't lacking anything. Keep your negative ass comments to yourself.
As a person who doesn’t like eng dub (I like the voice JP VA make that most western shows for some reason, can’t or don’t show), I am fine if you like dub But I don’t like it when you trash on the VAs who are to internally amazing
@MasonTheFurryCat I think every dub has amazing Vas, I'm saying that people need to understand that others have opinions. You literally can't with this fandom.
The English VA for neuvilette has so much more emotion. He even starts to cry when he realizes she’s just sacrificing herself even after everything she’s done for Fontaine. He feels immense sympathy for Furina seeing what she went through with so much pressure on her with her human mind and immortality.Hats off to the English VAs for making this scene so good. Of course I’m not dissing the Japanese VAs here. They have great talent in the characters they voice. But this in particular just seems to be lacking in comparison to the English
It really brings together Focalors' plan to have Neuvillette live among humans and learn empathy so that he would turn Fontainians fully human. "You are a devious one, Focalors." holds so much more weight in EN.
I think it's a difference in interpretation. Neuvilette's whole shtick is that he's stoic and doesn't know how to express himself so he cries in private and makes the rain. I think JP leaned more into the stoic and doesn't know how to emote outward
It's probably more of a direction thing, if you tell Kamiya to cry he'll get it done, it's fucking Hiroshi Kamiya who are we talking about But the way I see it, we are supposed to tell about his emotions through the rain, it hitted really hard when I learnt that it only rains when Neuvillette feels sad or is crying yet he tries his hardest to remain stoic, as he has to be the supreme judge that objectivly runs the trials
Hm... I still like the ENG version more regardless, but I think the missing ambient music also had a lot to do with why I didn't feel very emotional watching this. Did Hoyo just forget to put it in the JP version or something???
Imagine thinking english version is better lol, united statenses do nothing right lol and they call eachother AMERICANS lol lol lol imagine being that bad in geography AND dub
Neuvillette JP voice is really lacking in weight... I'd prefer someone with a more manly voice... like the voice actor Katsuki Murase, perhaps? He's the highest judge of a country for 500 years! His voice can't be so fleetingly light! Even if it might be a voice of a young men, it must carry a trustworthy weight accumulated through the years.
I know that I might trigger some people, but JP dub does not give this scene any justice, in ENG dub you can feel the weight, sadness and conflicting emotions in Neuvillette's voice, same with Focalors voice, you can feel the divinity/mysteriousness/lightness/wisdom on each line the ENG VA is throwing, here in JP dub its like I'm watching a sad generic anime scenario of something, it feels dull and "by the book". No offense Inori Minase is a talented VA, but man she didn't fit Furina's role at all imho, same with Neuvillette. P.S: I'm a big fan of Japanese VAs and I played the game with JP audio from the start, but the ENG voice actors/actresses of Fontaine characters are just in another level.
@@asassin232quite the opposite actually cuz I feel the exact same way although I’ve been playing with the Japanese dub for 3 years. He is right to say there is overall lesser emotion in their voices BECAUSE THERE IS, Neuvillette sounds colder in general in jp than he does in en. We’re not spitting on the work of the JP VA we’re just pointing out the difference of implication they put in this cutscene. If you weren’t too focused on hating on someone else’s opinion and actually bothered to notice the subtilities you’d see it too
@@miravity999 I think you need to reread asassin's comment again. From how it is written it is basically saying "You really wrote this long comment to tell the JP dub users that they are wrong to use JP dub." His comment would be more clear if "you're wrong" was in quotation marks, but unless asassin says otherwise that should the proper interpretation
Nahh don't agree with your statement. For me, ENG Voice of furina or focalos have no emotion at all after i watch it. Inori Minase is fitting both furina or focalors petfectly for me.
Neuvi jp voice wants to make him feel like he really doesn’t know how to self-expression and i love it so much
Just like Levi.
It stinks. English dub is so much better
Focalors' jp is so good! Inori Minase is amazing
3:00 her voice resonates in my heart :(
Got a mommy voice squeak out for a split second 🗿
6:14 A smile that we lost forever

the cutscene starts at 5:37 if someone is wondering

Reason is quite simple - in japanese version she sounds as eternally young teenager, while in english version she sounds like a 35+ MILF.

日本語のヌヴィは感情が分かりづらいけど、たまーーに少し感情を見せる所がかっこいい
I JUST NOTICE IN THIS 8:50 SCENE... LYNEY'S VOICE REMINDS ME OF KOKICHI'S VOICE. KOKICHI WAS A PRANKSTER. HOW....
This gives me chills, especially jp dub
Inori minase is amazing

end of toothpaste
i dont like eng focalors cuz it sounds like mrs jp voice really suit furina face
JP Neuvillette shows lesser emotion than EN Neuvillette
They only show emotions in anime.
because JP voice wants to make him feel like he really doesn’t know how to self-expression
It's like he is actually in character. Crazy.

music starts at cutscene, so it seems like someone played genshin with music off but dialogue on thats why theres no music in the chatted section
