33 in 1.. DECCAN QUEEN skipping EVERY STATION from CST to Karjat!!!

- The story of my first ever ride in the 12123 Mumbai - Pune Deccan Queen Express :-
Few days back, my friend from Lonavala had come down to Mumbai. He came in the morning by the Deccan Queen and was returning the same evening by the Deccan Queen. It was the day my exams just got over, so I decided to accompany him to Karjat. I was very excited as it was the first time I was going in this train from Mumbai CST. It connects Mumbai and Pune with barely 3 stops in each direction. It is one of the most prestigious trains of the Central Railway and it does not have a single halt till Karjat.
So we went to CST and bought unreserved tickets for the journey. At 4:45 pm, I saw a shunting engine coming into the platform with rake of the Deccan Queen. We had to jump into the general unreserved coach of the train before it stopped moving in order to catch window seats. As we sat waiting for the train to start, I decided that I will take a video of every single station we skip till Karjat.
Given below is a detailed description of the 100 km long journey I did that day…
5:10 pm. Bang on time, a soft jerk, and the wheels of the majestic queen start rolling beneath me. We smoothly depart from platform 9 of Mumbai CST station. After entering the mainline at Masjid, the train starts accelerating, but very slowly. As a result, we were 5 minutes behind the schedule time. Soon we curve beautifully and pass Sandhurst Road at a moderate speed, where the harbour line tracks go above us. Byculla, Chinchpokli, Currey Road and Parel are skipped faster and faster as the train picks up momentum. And then, the most deadly of all, we race through the busy Dadar station at full speed blowing up a whole lot of dust on the platform. It was a pleasure to watch. I have seen the Deccan Queen skipping Dadar from outside, this was my first time from inside.
After Dadar we slow down a bit for a speed restriction of 65 at Matunga, then pick up speed again. We race through Sion and Kurla, then another speed restriction of 65 at Vidyavihar. These small things do not affect the queen much as she accelerates quickly back to her full speed. Ghatkopar, Vikhroli, Kanjurmarg, Bhandup, Nahur and Mulund all flash by in no time. Now we have made up time and slow down to 80 km/hr while passing the main and crowded station of Thane. It is 5:40 pm and we are only 1 minute late now.
As most trains always do, we slow down before the Parsik Tunnel. We come out of the other side and pass Diva, Kopar, Dombivli and Thakurli before we slow down tremendously again. We pass Kalyan very slowly at 6:00 pm. After Kalyan, we are stuck behind a Badlapur local train. We crawl through Vithalwadi, Ulhasnagar and Ambernath. It is starting to get dark now. After crossing Ambernath, we finally start accelerating. We race by Badlapur and you can see the local train that we were stuck behind has terminated on platform 1. The next stations we pass at full speed are Vangani, Shelu, Neral and Bhivpuri Road. At Bhivpuri Road, we overtake a goods train, you can only see the silhoutte. Please note that after Kalyan, the platforms of Vithalwadi, Ambernath, Vangani and Bhivpuri Road were on the other side of the train. So you cannot see the platform.
As we approach Karjat, we slow down. We pass the banker engines which are waiting on the siding to push the train up the ghat. The bankers happen to be two WCAM-2 locomotives. And then at 6:39 pm, we cross tracks and come to a smooth halt at Karjat station, the first time the train came to a full stop ever since we left CST, 100 km behind. It had taken one and a half hours. While entering Karjat, you can also here the honk and humming of the diesel engine which was taking the Koyna Express towards Mumbai.
It was indeed an amazing run from CST to Karjat and I had a great time. At Karjat, I said bye to my friend and got off the Deccan Queen. Before going to catch a local train to head back home, I walked all the way to the front of the train to see the locomotive. It was a Kalyan shed WCAM-2P (21867).
In many of the videos, due to the shaking of the train and due to low light, some parts went out of focus. That could not be avoided.
I hope you have a great time watching this video compilation that I have made. Please feel free to comment on it. I have made this video to let the viewers know what a journey on board the Deccan Queen is like.
Thank you!

Nice to see all the stations in a single video. Brings back nostalgic memories of the 90's when I was in Mumbai. Those were the days when Mumbai was known as Bombay. Thanks to the Uploader.
Thanks a lot :)
You took me back 30 years watching this video ….
Loved each moment of it .
Good wishes from New York .
Wonderful memories riding the Deccan Queen, from Mumbai to Pune back in 1998, and the stations it passed.
Thank you
I'm Pakistani and occasional train traveler, but this is far superior in terms of speed and track conditions, plus it's electricity powered. India is certainly developing the railways faster.
Iftikhar Kango
This train started in 1930. Throughout it's run on electricity
Iftikhar Kango India's first train which run on electricity.
For you people in Pakistan this could be a bullet train but guess Pakistan to busy making terrorists camps and forgot about its poor people. Enjoy the ride.
I feel joy as see video. Fast trains
Pakistan railways is not in good condition
Awesm ...23 years ago I walked on Kalyan Dadar CST Goregaon etc ...but mostly on Kalyan and Chembur ...I was a young man then and the memories still are there ...will someday visit again hopefully
It's really great to travel by the Queen I've travelled twice during the monsoons down and up. The return journey is more fantastic to see the lush greenery on the ghats and the clouds on the far off mountains its a journey I'll never forget.
Brought back memories when I used to travel from Mumbai to Pune to my late granddad's place at least 3 times a year during school vacations. Traveled alone for the first time at age 12, then with friends and sometimes with grandad. Back in the day when Pune wasn't as polluted and populated as it is today. Deccan Queen and Indrayani Superfast Express were my choice of trains.
Since pune is my native...we often used to travel in deccan queen ....my favourite train of my young days
Passing through busy stations with passengers waiting in platform is a different kind of joy in childhood. Still I am enjoying this.
Me too. Feel nostalgic after seeing this video.
We are also lying in same position which we could see from outside mail.same feeling

Missing everything the sunrise sunset, in evening sun setting the heat, i can feel it, tears come, tysm brother
I see a lot of non-marathi people commenting here. Good to know they enjoyed the train- journey when visiting Maharashtra or being in Maharashtra. Personally I think Maharashtra is God's own Country.
You described a journey by fantastic way, which I like most.
When i was kid Paratha and Potato sabji for dinner in train. Loved it. Miss those days.

Very Nice Video. Really nostalgic. Recalled the childhood days when we used to travel from Mumbai to Pune & always wanted to travel in Deccan Queen. When we used to get the Reserved Tickets in Deccan Queen, we used to be very happy & proud. We used to take pride in telling neighbors & friends that we will traveling in Deccan Queen.
You have made it very interesting by putting the timing at which it passed each station on the way & also adding comments.

Mumbai looks exactly like my city when traversing through train except everything is a bit bigger and crowdy ofcourse..

prem rai
Its very the same here in the philippines, there are trash here along the manila commuter train tracks
@@cholodelrosari0543 are you in Dubai?
Your Narration of journey is awesome
its amazing to me that all that filth and garbage on the railway tracks does not seem to bother either the public or shame the government, really sad that one visits india one sees only garbage everywhere you go. Wonder why the youth do not set up a program to help clear the railway tracks since they love their trains so much!!
we have Started Swach Bharat abhiyaan
we people are giving taxes to Indian Govt
n Govt n people are doing their Job
it's not easy, as we have highest dense Population
I was thinking the same thing. Love to ride the rails but wouldn’t want to go there
Great video churning up all the garbage.
Exhilarating trip, top job, well done.

That was fast. Your video must be in some winter month because by 6:20 it was almost dark. Make more lengthy videos, it's really fun. Good titles in the video. Excellent videography Rishad.
+Ali Thank you. Yes it was taken in December. One more long video of the journey from Matheran to Neral on the Toy Train will come soon.

i enjoyed this ride.....many a times i travelled to lonavala or khandala , but by Deccan Express....in the morning, this was my first journey in DQ😁......
One more thing first time i visited ticketless up to Karjat ,I came CST to send my friend by DE,but got stuck in the train, due to heavy rush ...,at Karjat I sheepishly changed the platform for CST

Very Very Nice,, i liked it very much..
Reminds lovely memories.
Sunil super
Coming soon local trains to run till Pune...hahaha..till then have chaee chai wala ,garama garam batate Wade..😅
I think the Deccan Queen should operate with push pull engines as from CSMT it can straight go to Lonavala as no passengers at Karjat board this train. It my fav train to and from Pune.
Mumbai ends at Mulund area.
REALLY IT WAS AMAZING U JUST NAILED IT BRO👍
Thank you
Very nice video I feel I am in the train, I love Mumbai, all people please don't throw the waste near 🚂🚋🚃🚋🚃🚋🚃 way, enjoy this video remember all station

Thanks a lot :)
They need to retro fit AC motors to a WCM series loco and haul the Deccan Queen.
Wow so nice...video.😘😘😘😘😘😘🌷🌷🌷🌷
Beautiful!
Thus, if we travelling at average speed of 70 Km/hr then we will take 1.30 hrs...means from CST to last stop, Mumbai is scattered about 100 Km
I think you are missing some facts, Mumbai's last station is Mulund
Excellent video. A good remembrance of the time when i travelled on the Deccan Queen.. Awesome. Thanks.
Mesmerizing
One of the best video of DQ ever seen as a window passenger ......keep it up.. may be next time you complete the balance journey till Pune Jn.
Madhav Gole tere g mai diva...
Thank you for making this video. I trust this is coming to Sec-bad station in Hyderabad.
one should appreciate the efforts, garbage is our own regular practice which we dump anywhere everyday. Good effort, keep it up.
