The best part of this video was that dog and girl running behind you. You should feature them more 😆

This is amazing! Thank you for sharing 🎉 planning a portage backcountry and was starting to get discouraged about the struggle of portaging this exact kayak … what a great solution and way to make use of the foam pads for the car!

Great idea Danilo. I’m in the gta too. Bought 2 of these at Costco. Haven’t tried them yet but I’m thinking I better get to work with your yoke design. Must be the same specs as yours. Great video! Thanks for sharing! 👍

The yoke is great, even if it’s just for the haul from car to launch point and back.
Good luck on your build! I’ve been meaning to put the dimensions in the description of the video, will do it by next weekend if it helps.

@@danilointhewoods well you put the specs there which is great! I think that should be enough. Take a trip to Home Depot soon in Durham region …and get to work. We’re newbies so this’ll be an “interesting” summer. 🙄🤣

I also backcountry camp in a little Pelican kayak! I even cut out the back hatch to create more storage room. Every time I'm packing it, people walk by amazed at how I fit all my backcountry gear in it :p Was also looking at making a DIY yoke with ABS pipe too cuz I've just been carrying the kayak on my shoulder with pool noodle padding during portages...we'll see how my planned yoke design goes! Might adopt yours if mine is a fail. Haha.

I have two 10' pelicans and recently added an 8 footer to my fleet. It's my travel kayak because with my front and back car seats reclined and folded it's fits completely in my car, hatch down and no bungieing the trunk shut like i had to with my 10 footers. I had real issue with paying almost 2 grand to transport my $300 boats! And the rack would likely not fit my next vehicle. I don't have to worry about my kayak becoming airborne on the hwy and it's out of UV rays and weather...plus not creating drag and screwing over my gas mileage. I use the shoulder carry method with the split pool noodle as mentioned above but find it's not enough padding. Hence finding your video. Unfortunately i don't have the front storage well to carry your yoke design. Very clever though and you're so right about not needing a $2000 canoe for the back country. I'm in no way a "gear snob" 😂 what works, works!

To be fair canoe don't just excel because they are easier to carry. They can generally carry a larger load etc. I love both. But the canoe buries my kayak in its ability to carry weight. That being said....I loved the video, love your attitude, and loved the build. It gives me some ideas for sure man. I am going to try something similar for canoe. I could buy a yoke, or make a nice wooden one....but where is the fun in that. Checking out some of your other videos now

I’m saving up for a canoe. Looking at a solo one, but this little Pelican has gotten the job done so far for sure!! And yeah, the DIY component is a huge part for me. It’s all about the build, the improvements…

@@danilointhewoods I hear ya man. If it works it works. I prefer using a kayak in Rivers honestly. Different tools for the job right?
