This is a volatile matchup. Belmont misses an option read, they’re open. Donkey misses a punish, back to ledge you go.
I love matchups like that where no character feels at a big disadvantage it’s just you and your character
This matchup is certainly the Belmont's favor. ChunkyKong is good at capitalizing. T3 Dom is also really good too. But there's no doubt that in the long run, the Belmont wins this matchup more often than not.
@@joebloggs4933 I thinks it's pretty even, everything Belmont throws can be shielded and gives opportunity for DK to close the gap.
Lmao this take is so bad. This is not a remotely even match-up. Dk winning is fully dependent on hoping the Belmont just fucks up, not DK having the tools to actually force Belmont into disadvantage.

It is not dks worst.
Pikachu is probably worse if the pika has all the bread and butter combos down. Also DK can gimp the Belmont's easily once he gets an opening and puts them off stage, not to mention DK can tank a lot of hits so there is a lot of room for error. Probably 40-60 against Belmont's for DK. It's a hard matchup but doable as shown by ChunkyKong winning two games in that set.
Yeah, as a Richter main that match isn't as free as it looks. DK is a heavy and once the Belmonts get hit or if the Belmonts haven't create enough space to throw out safe moves DK is scary and a killer. It also take a very long time to kill DK, the Belmonts recovery is trash, and the Belmonts eats up getting combo'ed because they are heavy character and are very slow. They projectile can be overwhelming but all of their projectile are slow. I get beaten in neutral with character with an average projectile. I'd say the matchup might be slightly in the Belmont favor, but that's not saying much.

If you know absolutely nothing about Belmont and their playstyle, get grill sautéed 👏
If you know how they roll thou, it’s quite normal nothing too out of the ordinary unless the Belmont main well... yknow.... dowbB into Fsmash 💀 (which is something TDom did in one of the matches in this vid, though only once. He knows restraint.)
@@Giggles_iJest while I agree on the unfamiliarity part, I think it's worth noticing that ChunkyKong destroyed Dom only a month before this set on online too so some of the credit should go to Dom and how much he's improved and adapted since then
Chunkykong and Dom rarely fight each other. But when they do, I really enjoy it. Such good players of their characters!

I am proud of chunky performance. Dk already struggles against projectiles and the online environment doesn't help
You can’t call Don spammy. If so, yeah he spams holy water, cross, axe, up b, nair, bair, dair, and f tilt. Dude is basically reinventing what you can do with the Belmonts with his combo game. Very fun to watch
All he does is spam optimal moves at the right time every time so spammy
But t that third match tho, that wasn't comboing into those things you said, the 4th match tho that was lit
villabong11 The moments where he is seemingly just cycling through his projectiles are moments where he is ledge trapping, he’s trying to force Chunky into certain plays and making the reads. Calling him a spammer is questionable, he’s a high IQ player and often very creative.
@@marcpjoyner yeah by any means I wanted to disrespect dom I do admire his play style but as I said those moments at the third match got into my nerve because of that constantly ledge trapping

There are many big problems with Simon and Richter. I pray every day Nintendo just removes them from the game. I'd take that over another DLC character any day.

@@fissilewhistle I agree that they're not that good. That being said. Fighting against them or playing as them is not fun. When it comes to game design one key principle is to listen to feedback from your player base. The general consensus is that these characters are not fun in any way. Nintendo should rework them. It's not that I can't generally beat them. It's more that it's just really bad game design.

That 3 match was way so toxic I mean Dom is the less spammy to death player I have seen, he usually use the items to make combo happen which is cool, but in that match was just holding B the whole time.

If you decide to play a heavyweight against Belmont, you don’t get to act surprised when you get zoned out. Especially DK, who’s pretty much a big ass hurtbox.

@@MrCrow-tl5tv This is not a free matchup as it would seem to be. I play Richter and still do lose to DK and Bowser. Gannon is maybe the easiest matchup as far as the heavies. Crazy enough Pacman is a way easier match than DK.

Because that's how belmonts play it's a zoning move. He uses it to gain stage control cause he is slow. He used it aggressively at least not defensively
Smash ultimate becomes very linear if you don't use lingering hitboxes. Movement options are very limited, knockback is too fast, 1v1 multiplier makes stocks fly, ...
Sets like this prove how Donkey Kong is such a stupid character. He lands one stray hit and suddenly you can't land

Donkey needs nerfs deadass. No way a character deserves to have such high kill potential, damage output, and survivability.
For real. That fucker is way too hard to kill and not to mention his frame data is pretty damn good for a super heavy. Plus cargo throw cheese, super armor, 4 spikes. Like damn daddy.
Wtf would you nerf without making him worse than he is? His recovery sucks ass and is super easy combo food.
What You Egg honestly idt his disadvantage is that bad. Chi key Kong was able to air dodge through one of ritcher’s axes and nair can help him trade with incoming attacks. As for his recovery yea it’s not vertical but seeing as though he can Congo throw into the blast zone and still recover it gets the job done in flying colors
He also has no decent oos option. And he is so easy to ledgetrap and edgeguard. He has one of the worst disadvantages is the game. Just abuse his weak points which really isn’t that hard as he has so many.

Dom is really boring to watch. He doesn't go for any grabs after drag down nair. Hardly uses down tilt mix ups. Flowchart ledge trapping. Yawn
Late but don't care. While true keep in mind Belmonts grab is garbage coming out at frame 10 with no range and dtilt being very commitle. Also Belmonts ledge trapping is good so why wouldn't you take advantage of it especially against DK?
Also it's a tournament match it's not optimal to go for any stylish combos or setups as it would cost you the set
