The way you see the world, as grim as it may appear, is all in your perception of self. That is what they're trying to say specifically there. The line straight up restores faith in humanity. Especially when you start to surround yourself with better people and see first hand most of us aren't as it appears online.
This and Daenerys are my favorites from this newest record. The clean vocals sound amazing if you ask me. Everyone is talking shit but this is a goddamn good record.
DiTzZ I think augment was probably the best djent/prog album I've ever heard... but this album is the second. I disagree that erra is still as good as that album, not that they still aren't great. Without garrison and the other guitarist that left they definitely don't have quite the same punch, but like I said they are still really good. I think garrisons replacement is great and jesse is melodically better than marc.... but understand erra has 2 guitarists where marc is on his own. I would say melodically/solos jesse is better but marc has him on quirky grooves. I don't think your comment is being fair to vom and I would disagree with it based off erras last ep, but would agree in terms of augment. sorry for long winded response but these are pretty much my two favorite bands
Clarkzor AFAIK, Erra wrote and recorded "Moments of Clarity" during a very short period of time, just to show the fans that their sound hasn't changed too much and to give us something to listen to while they work with their new full-length album. They also said that their album will be a looot better than that EP. With that said, I've always liked Erra and I like every single song by them. This is the first album by VoM that I can actually listen to, I don't like their old stuff. Erra is one of my absolute favourite bands, while VoM is far away from it. My comments are solely based on my own opinions. So once again; ERRA > Veil of Maya. :DD I like long answers, it definitely shows your passionate about the subject ;)
Clarkzor Jesse would shit himself knowing you guys are comparing him to VOM. They looked up to BOO and VOM for years before they ever got big. Someone's dream just came true.
Jesse should pat himself on the back because IMO he has made it into the elite prog metal/djent guitarists category for the way he combines grooves melody and solos... And he sings like a mother fucker. I would venture to say that in totality Jesse is a better musician than Marc but the one thing that very few can touch is Marc's quirky grooves if think he and misha are the best at those from what I've heard. Point being erra and vom are the shit, so is boo, but since discovery and no Richardson they aren't as good anymore.

Lukas' vocals give some really uplifting qualities to the music, I just feel kind of inspired when I listen to the album. I feel like the band in general has grown and become more diverse with their music while still sticking to some of their roots. Too tasty/10
Discovered this song recently, can't stop listening to it. Just love the guitars and lyrics, it makes me smile and just gives a little bit of hope in life and my dreams.
those clean vocals on the chorus are some of the best I've ever heard in metalcore melodical, post, what ever you might call it. GAVE ME GOOSE BUMPS LOVE IT
I was absolutely wrong not to give this album a chance. I mean sure it's different, but this is MARC OKUBO we're talking about here. I apologize good sir! The sheer fact that there's a subtle bit of Jenova's theme in this turned me. FF7 is my favorite game ever. Well done
I'm actually really digging this. Especially the ambient shit going on. Such a little thing when bands do it, but it makes a bigger impact than one would imagine.
I really don't understand why people hate the new Veil of Maya. If anything, they're better than they were before. They have variation. They're expanding their sound. The music isn't as dark as it was before but so what? That's how you progress as an artist. You do things differently to make yourself a better artist. Of course, no one is going to like it and that's fine. But don't belittle the band and those who actually like what they're doing now simply because you don't like it. If you don't like it, don't listen to it. Simple as that.
***** In all fairness though this is a pretty drastic change of sound. It's like if Everytime I die decided to go down a more pop-punk route on their next album or Amon Amarth decided they like playing folk metal; it probably wouldn't go over well with everyone. This also didn't happen gradually either like some bands choose to do. I think that's why you get so many opinionated comments. If someone who has never listened to veil before heard any material from their previous releases and then was shown some of the tracks from this album without being told it was still them they might not even know its the same band. There's lots of things I really don't care for with this change, but there are also other aspects that I can appreciate. I wish more people looked at it that way. Either way, the "vom is dead" comments as well as the "fuck off if you don't like this new sound" comments are both equally as annoying IMO.
This isn't the equivalent of everytime I die going pop punk or Amon Amarth going to folk metal, those are complete genre changes.... Veil of maya added fucking cleans which definitely doesn't constitute a genre change. Way to exaggerate.
Clarkzor I'm simply using it as an example of a drastic sound change in a band. If you took it as me saying that what veil did is EXACTLY like that then I'm sorry you misunderstood me. I was only using that as an example of a very popular band followed by many people making a change that would alter their sound, which is exactly what veil has done here. Sure they still sound somewhat like veil because obviously marc is still their guitarist and has his own unique sound, but it is still much more than just cleans they added. No need to get worked up over a comment man.
***** A lot of the sounds on ID and CMC sound the exact same to me, with the frequent djent chugging. I think this is a nice change of pace for a second.
Not going to lie i was in complete fear of this release, and letting go of my nostalgic tie to the common man's collapse , but this album is absolutely beautiful in every fucking way. Forever bowing in VoM's aura \m/
Sorry but in my opinion, as a whole, this is their best album. They've grown and opened up more as musicians. There is still heaviness all over the place if you really listen, they've just added so much more musicality.
Corey Ballenger I agree man. Sure they can play ball to the wall and try to be the heaviest band..but that's not what makes a band. Now they have so much more emotion in the music. Reach all or don't reach at all \m/
fuck all that, Eclipse was the best technically. Although this vocalist is amazing, the lyrics are just so fucking lame and boring honestly. I rate all of it, but Eclipse was the best
@@coughwheezeexplode I mean there's way more freedom of writing in Deathcore instrumentally and lyrically so it comes down to preference. Eclipse and this are incomparable and in my mind equal. That said Punisher and Mowgli are forever my favorites by them.
I love old Veil of Maya, and I love new Veil of Maya. This album is so beautiful! I understand people's disappointment, and though I do miss the old sound, this is pretty great.
I mean I hate people that say this not even gonna lie. Go listen to Eclipse. That's the band people complaining fell in love with. Totally viable opinion to not like the change to metalcore from deathcore but as a fan of both this band is just insane honestly pulling off both so well
Three-fifty? That must be how much this track is worth :D Great shit guys, this is one of the last tracks I checked out and it's Definitely one of the favs as well. Good shit on this album veil!!! Longest wait ever but it was well worth it! Glad you guys took the time with the blood sweat and tears. Cheers !
They sound like periphery now. Which is not a bad thing at all it is amazing actually. Also, Spencer helped produce these vocals. The new clean vocals give some depth to this already great band. I don't get why people are hating on tis change when there is enough screaming to go around. I'm glad they're progressing and not staying similar and stale
I just cant stop listening to this band, this guy is just so good with the screams, his cleans and beautiful vocals. Just my opinion brandon is good either but im with lukas cuz he is just good with both kinds of vocals
That god damn Loch Ness Monster! I'll never be able to listen another new album without thinking about those Girl Scout Cookies with references like this...
Ok, let me first off say that i absolutely love this album. Every song is great and have listened to it all the way through since i bought the physical copy multiple times. The 1 thing that jumps out at me after every song as the album goes on, is that each song sounds like a different current band, weather it be the vocal melodies, the guitar melodies, the structure, or even the guitar tone. Throughout this album, all im hearing is combinations of Chon, Periphery, and Polyphia with VOM's playstyle mixed in with that. In no way am i against feeding off other bands (which i don't even know if this was done intentionally, probably not). But to me, it is just painfully obvious whats been done here, and if you find yourself completely blind to what im trying to say, make sure you fully understand the style and sound of the 3 bands that i listed. Not trying to get flamed so if you disagree, at least post something with some intellectual value in response. Thank you
It didn’t help me. But I got bad sick, migraine, fatigue and weakness for week. Never had in my life. I had drank heavily everyday for the past 3 years. I had tried drinking, but it all came out. After that, my sickness just kept me laid up, even too lazy to go to store, drugged myself up just to barely hang at work. But no way i could drink. My sickness lasted about 10 days. I just stopped. After my sickness ended, i never felt better. I finally cleaned all the trash from my room, felt comfortable to actually come outside my room and watch TV with my mom, i talk more and communicate more at work. I was down bad. Hadn’t showered in months, my room looked like dumpster, my car was dumpster too. That sickness helped me. Now, I can’t even stand the thought of consuming alcohol. Atleast the particular kind I drank. Best of all, I enjoy music more. Like this awesome song.
And people say they suck cause they're now different and when a band stays the same people would say "oh its boring they have the same sound since the first album" look how arrogant people are well for me i have been listening veil of maya for a while and not much in following them but i heard their past songs and differentiate theirs now in my opinion their sound has been improved also matured with their new vocalist i know their on the right track and this made me like them again
I have reported your threat to me to youtube and the police. you will learn your lesson dumbass! now it's your turn to watch out. Threatening is a crime! moron
Not gonna lie I keep expecting a break down at 2:55 every time I come back to this song. Never really been VoMs style but I think it would have been perfect there.
Okay nevermind I'm retarded and that technically is a breakdown. I still need more every time and the drummer to hit harder lol. Didn't even notice it behind the bass for a while
They got me in the feels with "perception of life is perception of soul." Makes me want to live a little better.

same :D although lisbeth is good too

Eh Daenerys was kinda meh to me. This and Teleute
This is the new ERRA of Veil of Maya. I love those melodies.

LYRICS:
There are a million roads
Which lead to the same place
The same place
It is the means along the way that awakens us
So wake me up
Perceptions of life
Forgive the foes who have turned away
Through pride grips vitality and must remain
Leave the foundation of which you call home
Only to return or forever alone
Will we be known forever
Forever (Will we be known)
Will we be known forever
Forever
There are a million roads which lead to the same place
It is the means along the way that awakens us
We are not hopeless
Within the unknown
Is it us who chose
Within the unknown
Is it us
Within the unknown
Is it us who chose
Within the unknown
Is it us
Will we be known forever
Forever
Will we be known forever
Forever
Will we be known forever
Forever
Will we be known forever
Forever
Within a world I've never known
Yet so familiar
How could I possibly know
Within a world I've never known
Have we been chosen
Or is it us who chose
Within a world I've never known
Have we been chosen
Or is it us who chose
Within a world I've never known
Have we been chosen
Or is it us who chose
Or is it us who chose
Perception of life is perception of soul
Embrace what's to come
We may not live eternally
Eternity lies within the unknown
Within the unknown
Aye thanks for commenting this. Everything about this song is gold
Heaven sent mortal ...thank you😂
Hands down my favorite track on this album. So beautiful!
Lukas' vocals give some really uplifting qualities to the music, I just feel kind of inspired when I listen to the album.

1:27 onwards is the best part. I love the vocals!
Meshuggah Gaze You must be uneducated
Meshuggah Gaze and you must be na idiot homophobic nazi, ass well.
Tremenda belleza de álbum. Sin duda, unas de las mejores bandas que he escuchado en los últimos años.

Victor Tanguy Did someone say Loch Ness Monster?
fuck, you beat me to it.

Best vocals on the CD right here.
Mikasa I think lol
Noah Papafagos eh no, this right here
man that chorus
those clean vocals on the chorus are some of the best I've ever heard in metalcore melodical, post, what ever you might call it. GAVE ME GOOSE BUMPS LOVE IT

this album has a lot of melodic hardcore elements that mix so well with its metalcore elements this album is insane
Being an old school VOM fan I've finally sunk into submission and accepted this change. I've grown into it and I actually dig these tracks.
I'm actually really digging this. Especially the ambient shit going on. Such a little thing when bands do it, but it makes a bigger impact than one would imagine.
2:15 reminds me of CHON I love it :')
withintheruins92 That tempo change tho.
...then that riff that transitions it back.

Holy shit dude. Haha. I just finished playing that too.
Sojk65a I'm so glad I'm not the only one who noticed this. Its been driving me wild xD
Sojk his the battle. Summon knights of the round
Became a Veil of Maya fan after this album. Has EVERYTHING.
Me too. Love it
Those bells at 2:43, though... :D It's the small things that count.
MehsterChief that's a Piano man haha, but yeah, it's an awesome little melody and section

In a band called Arms Of Empire
Interesting. I'll have to take a peek
Right!

I love old Veil of Maya, and I love new Veil of Maya. This album is so beautiful! I understand people's disappointment, and though I do miss the old sound, this is pretty great.
Periphery, Erra, Veil of Maya, Invent Animate. If this tour came to Colorado next year I think I could die happy.
Banda incrível! Som pesado na medida certa!
Definitely one of the best on the album. Well done, VoM.

I can't get enough of the cleans in this song. God damn.

god when that riff hits at 0:20 I can't help myself from fucking going ham and jumping around

@@mattkeller5913 not every song needs a heavy hitting breakdown
absolutely beautifull

Finally I found a full song to learn !
2:43 please tell me I'm not the only one who hears Jenova's theme (Final Fantasy VII) on that?!?!
Is the song title supposed to be a South Park reference?
