As I've grown up, gotten uptight corporate jobs, gotten married, and bought a house, August Burns Red has consistently remained my favorite band. They've never compromised their sound in favor of appealing to a wider audience and top themselves on every release. Almost no other band in this genre keeps with the sound that we all want to hear and I have huge respect for them for sticking with it and evolving each record. Great job guys, you've been my favorite band since 2007 and at this rate you'll be my favorite 20 years from now, too.

Well, little did those stuck up yuppies know, My airpods were blasting Empire straight into my ear pussies. I live only an hour or so south from their home town. (I am in bmore). I get to see them a lot and I love it!
Man, I can’t explain how much this song hits home for me right now. A little back story, growing up in the early 2000s I used to live for weekend trips to shows and late night band practices. Back in those days ABR was killin it just as hard as now. I grew up in a heavily Christian family and for most of my life I adopted those philosophies because that is what was past down to me. Fast forward 16 years and I for the most part have grown far away from the love of metal and God I once had. Or so I thought. Three days ago I heard this song and instantly everything came flooding back. All the rage and bitterness I’d been carrying for years suddenly felt lighter as I listened to this song and literally threw down in my living room by myself as my cat sat there completely in fear. Lol I don’t know man just everything about this song resonates with me. I lost my mom two months ago and it’s been killing me. I thought I could do everything alone but I can’t. I need a defender sometimes as well. Something I can find peace within. This song has brought me back to feeling that peace can be found. It’s up to me and my creator. I have to let that back in and allow it to guide me and provide structure when I am struggling. Silverstein, The Black Dahlia Murder, and Phinehas are other bands who lost that streak, but Silverstein is releasing their album next month, TBDM in April and Phinehas I'm pretty sure are in the studio. I honestly prefer a 2.5-3 year wait to give bands time to release their best music. Plus there is just too much to listen to nowadays anyways.
