Ron is steady. He is grounded. His “core” so strong and not talking pilates core. He has worked hard, thinks deeply, listens keenly, stayed true to who he knows himself to be, i feel. No wonder that his projects are so amazing and well received or that actors want to work with him. I celebrate him and the wonderful life he shares with us. Thank you, Ron Howard! 👏👏👏💓.
These two men are on my top five people list to have over for dinner. May you both continue in good health, TREASURES to the human race. Thank you for all you do.
Just watch this movie. If you think you know the story, you don't. There are so many unsung heroes and efforts that came together to help this rescue come to happen, including villagers (no spoilers but heart-warming and heartbreaking decisions!) no one would know about if it weren't for this movie. Dedicated to the 2 SEALS who died during the rescue effort as well. Truly a celebration of humanity and volunteering, its incredible!
While I agree 100%, I do wish more time was spent focusing on how important the coach was during their time in the cave. The boys repeatedly said that his encouragement, leading them in meditation, etc., is what kept them calm and going.
u should also watch netflix limited series version as it goes more into detail of the efforts by others while this one looks more from the uk divers eyes. both are mussstt watch!!
Just watched this on Netflix...it was fantastic and truly nail-biting to the very last minute! Great to know the actual divers were advisors on the film.
I love "Thirteen Lives" so much, I've already watched it 3x! Such a dramatic, riveting, and heartfelt depiction. Beautiful photography of Thailand countryside, and the entire cast was phenomenal, from the locals and boys on up to the stars like Viggo Mortensen and Colin Farrell. I loved it, loved it, loved it! Thank you Ron Howard! 🙏❤️❤️❤️
I just finished watching this. It is SO STRESSFUL, but SO GOOD! It was done exceptionally well. You can just FEEL the stress, worry, frustration, etc. that those people must have experienced. Such a relief at the end. Made me cry for the two Thai men who lost their lives. Amazing how so many people came together to rescue the boys. So wonderful to see people who care about the lives of those they don’t know.
Last year, a documentary was made of this rescue. Called "The Rescue". It's one i highly recommend you see, especially if you find this whole event really interesting.
THE RESCUE was incredible. Done by National Geographic w/ interviews w/ the divers, 3D maps of the caves, and footage from the event (as well as seamlessly-integrated re-enactment footage).
Wow! I lost a dear friend and his wife while cave diving. They weren't new to this adventure. They left behind 5 children. The honor and respect Ron Howard has for this factual event is truly inspirational. 💜
That's quite a journey of loss and suffering; I hope some measure of peace has been achieved by all parties concerned, esp by the elder parents and the children 🙏
I watched Thirteen lives. As a Thai, Ron Howard did a marvelous job capturing details about Thais. Before the movie started, I told my husband if the characters start speaking the central dialect, I would turn it off. Thai northerners have their own dialect. I, as. Bankokian, don't even understand them. I need to read captions. The bureaucracy of Thai government in the movie is also real.
I hope the movie is dedicated to Petty Officer Beirut Pakbara, a Thai Navy Seal who died as a result of a blood infection he developed during the rescue. Everybody involved in this rescue were heroes and one gave his life so that others could live another day.
A British cave diver first found the boys. Elon musk offered a small submarine to help rescue the boys. The diver said it wouldn't be any help. Elon Musk called him a 'pedo'
He is mentioned at the end and the movie is dedicated to him and the SEAL diver who died during the setting up of the rescue. It is SO worth watching and honours many people during the effort including the villagers who allowed the water to be diverted onto their land to ruin their crop so the cave would stop being flooded as much as possible... it is tense and emotional but honours all the volunteers and people who came together who we never would have known about. Brave and amazing every one of them. My heart was full and eyes welled up so many times!
I’ve never heard anyone introduce their daughter’s significant other as “the love of her life”. I think that’s really sweet. Ron Howard must be such a romantic!

It is beyond my imagination how the boys were saved. Incredible!!! Brilliant!!! . Watching this movie makes me understand a whole lot more. Just speechless. I am Thai and I was following the news in 2018 all day long. However, the movie is giving me chills.. Superb. Ron ...
I meet Ron Howard in 1995 when he was filming “Ransom” at the Kaufman-Astoria Studio in Queens. I was working at a large bookstore in Manhattan, and a manager asked me to help this customer. Out from behind the shelves stepped Ron and his son, Reed, who looked just like his dad as Opie. We had a pleasant conversation as I helped him and his son shop for books. He was/is a good man, a good father, and a decent human being. Years later, I was working in another store in another city, and one of my coworkers was married to Chip Speegle, one of Ron’s cousins. Small world.
A child actor made good! He said because of the patience of the crew on Andy Griffin show, adults taking time to help a intellegent child to understand the show making process!
Even if he hadn't done other movies that I thoroughly enjoyed - Apollo 13 alone is reason enough for me to have Ron Howard on my favorite directors list.
To know that there are people like Ron Howard, Stephen Colbert, Chef Andres, James Taylor (whose Mother, Trudi, was phenomenal in her political beliefs), Ken Burns and Adam Kinzinger, gives me a bit of balm for my soul. So much better to hear/see these men than the reprehensible posers, masquerading as Republicans.
Such a great guy. Thirteen Lives is gripping. The way the true risk is played out in such a subtle way. Ron is always such a brilliant storyteller. The actor's commitment to authenticity showed.
I won't be seeing this film. The hero's that saved the brave boys lives are incredible. This event had me worrying about the boys and their rescuers, every minute until they were safe.

The fact that I don't see that much excitement around it when COLIN and VIGGO are starring in it? COME ONNN. Anyways, truly happy for the boys and hope they're all still doing great. Ron Howard must surely be channeling God through his every pore. His soul is blindingly brilliant. I never met a man with more compassion than him. It takes a certain person to want to bring good stories to life like this. Mr. Howard sure came a long way from his Gomer Pyle U.S.M.C. & Mayberry R.F.D. days.
