I'll be sharing this! This is how we raise our boys (9 and 11). We joke that we could leave for a week and our kids could run the farm and be well fed. (We aren't leaving.). They understand that when people come and visit that they sometimes have to detox from screen time and learn how to play again.

I wish that I had heard this 20 years ago when I had my son.

You should look into how our mind goes into different states like alpha theta beta gamma and so forth. When we're around running water for a short amount of time our brain flips into alpha I think. Whatever state of mind that flips into causes us to have those kinds of thoughts. I have created hole massive like-minded homestead communities in my mind while I was in the shower. All kind of answers to problems came to me over and over. We're in the state of mind where we can hear from God better. We can learn how to go into that state of mind without the shower as well. There's been times where the Holy Spirit came on me in the shower and I was stuck worshiping, singing, praising Father Yehovah for long times. This is the same reason when I was very distressed that I would go to the mighty Mississippi River every day. Going to the creek, a lake, or the ocean.
