Dan, I remember renting your book from the library when I was just a kid. I'm thrilled to have found you online. I created a Jigsaw puppet replica (the head) with your papier mache method. Thank you for sharing your creativity with the world!
Glad to help! Glad you found me. Thank you for taking the time to write. It is much appreciated. Now it's time for a dragon, don't you think? :-)
Dan
GourmetPaperMache Oh yes, certainly. Probably something with lots of teeth. Thank you for taking the time to write back! Keep up the great work.
PineappleRaxx
Thank you! I will. Take care
From Spain,
You are an inspiration for improving my papermache projects.
Thank you for your work, master!
Thank you so much Jousepe! You made my night.
From Washington State.
Dan
Bravo! Another wonderful creation from my most favorite artist! I absolutely love it! Thank you Dan for sharing your fabulous work with us!!
Hey Khelie. Nice to hear from you! I'm glad you like this little goofy project. And you are very welcome.
Take care
Dan
You did such a great job with the realism( minus horn on the head) that it kind of creeped me out to look at him( if it is a him?).
He looks he is actually a taxidermy critter.!
+SilverScreenJean
Sorry, just seeing this comment. Thank you Jean! Yes, he is a bit creepy.
Dan
He looks just like an R.O.U.S from The Princess Bride- but horn added! Love! :)
This is a fantastic work
Mister you are an artist
Thx for share your works
bruno simao
Thank you for the nice comment Bruno! I am very happy you like this!
Dan
You never cease to amaze!
I always appreciate your support. Thank you!
Dan
Keep up the good Work! You're just simply amazing, from all your projects to your cat enclosure. Oh, and what did you use for the fur? It looks quite amazing.
Thank you! You are always very supportive. It is much appreciated. I used the hair from wigs for this guy's fur. It makes all the difference I think.
Dan
Holy cow! Adding all that fur must have been mind-numbing, but it looks like it's worth it! Always awesome. I really like the nose for some reason.
Thank you. Yes, the fur was a bit of a pain. But it adds a nice texture. Thanks for your support, as always. Back to dragons now.
Dan
Dragons!
capfogful
Yes, yes, yes. I forced myself to make three non-dragon projects before making another dragon. I finished the third. Will have a video of that soon. Then another dragon, I promise. I have a good one in the works.
Dan
Awsome, you are the best youtuber for me I just cant wait your next video!
capfogful
You are very kind. It's because of people like you that I spend the time to make these. Thank you again.
Dan
Thank you Dan! latex mask I made when I was a kid. 1989. well before The Walking Dead. Sadly its difficult to find time to do the things I love to do. I greatly admire all you do and continue to do. maybe when my kids are a bit older I'll have more time to explore new possibilities in artistic expression. especially creature creation.
I know how hard it is to find time for art! And yes, raising kids is another full time job! I was very lucky that I had some time because I taught school for a living. So I had time during the year, particularly summers, to do my art. After 40 years of teaching I retired so that I could devote the time I have left to my art. I hope you can carve out some time to do the same. We must pay the bills of course, but we have to feed our souls too.
Nice talking with you. Keep in touch Geoff.
Adorable little creature 😻😻😻
These are so cool. Thanks for sharing!
+Stacey Potts
Thank you Stacey!
Love your work! keep it up! They are all amazing!
+Sabrina P.
Thank you Sabrina!
This one is a good one, keep up the vids.
Thank you! Glad you like this strange little guy.
Dan
Your artwork is amazing!
Greetings from Washington!
Thank you! Greetings from Washington back at you!
Dan
Man, youre so talented!!
That was so cool!!!
You are very kind. Thank you for your nice remarks Sofia!
Do you ever make these things hollow and turn them into lamps? It would be cool to see the colors light up through the paint. Even the eyes lol awesome stuff! I subscribed
Seen this video 20 x's and it's still amazing that you can make critters like this. Where is a good cheap place to get all them bed sheets?? That's a lot of fabric that adds up?
Hey Shawn. I buy my bed sheets at Goodwill. I used to go to a place here called Value Village, but then they stopped putting out very old, worn sheets, the kind I like. And I found out that they are part of a giant conglomerate that purports to donate to charity. But they really don't. Goodwill does, and so I support them. Not sure if Goodwill is everywhere though.
We do have Goodwill here in my area but I don't see them putting bed sheets out. I went to the local fabric shop and got a batch of Muslin cotton cloth to use. It isn't as soft as old bed sheets but will still give it a try. I can get it for under $3 a yard.
@@shawnsmith1865 Goodwill with no bed sheets? Strange. Ours has rows and rows. Hope the muslin works out. If you wash with heavy bleach first it will break down some of the fibers. Good luck!
I love this opossum
you are amazing
You are very kind Raquel. Thank you!
I think he is great! I would liked to have seen him squished with the crows picking at him! Lol!
+Judy k
That would be a great idea! Thanks!
Again another master piece! U are awesome!!!!
Thank you Pearl. You are awesome too. I really appreciate your support.
Dan
what a fine specimen every cryptozoologists fantasy
+Nogoodnikki
Hey Nogoodnikki. It's always nice to hear from you! Thanks for the note, as always!
Dan
i LOVE him!
Thank you! I'm very happy you like him.
Dan
I'm honored by your subscription (Old Man).
Lol, you're not old!!!
When I have content like you have on your channel, then maybe,, worth subscribing. I plan to do more.
You are very kind. Keep up the good work! And by the way, your kids won't forget your efforts with their amazing costumes. Every kid should be so fortunate. Not only do they get the best costumes in the city, but they see their dad expressing himself artistically. I think it plants powerful seeds in kids.
Have a great night!
I love all your stuff, but this guy is totally brilliant. And it's fun watching him come together at such a high rate of speed! How long did it take you in real life time?
Thank you doplganr! I think this took a couple of weeks to build.
Take care
Dan
+Lino Nicandro Maldonado Mota

That is creepy how real it looks
Thanks! But the horn gives it away I think.
Dan
Wow, I love your work! What is the white layer made of, the one against the eyes and the lips? Anyway, great one!
hello , I love to see your videos , it's a wonderful job. Congratulations, wanted to ask what kind of paper you use in his sculptures? :)
+Junior Silva
Thank you Silva. I use newspaper for the sculpting. I add a "skin" of cloth (bed sheets) dipped in white (all purpose) glue.
Take care
Dan
Opossums are amazing and unipossums to
Yes on both counts! Thanks Clarice!
perfect
Can you do this paper mache projects successfully without the use of wire hangers. Or is it a must. I making a raptor .
You don't absolutely need hangers. But if your project is fairly large or if the legs are carrying significant weight, then you'll need some kind of reinforcing at the joints, like at the knees etc.. Wire makes it strong where it needs to be and when you bend the appendages they stay put.
Gnarly!😎
I am definitely buying your book. Does it share where to get eyes, and how many layers of news paper you need to lay before letting dry and cutting? I'm sorry for asking so many questions on here and want to buy the book to help support what your doing. If only to keep you doing it. Lol
Yes, it tells all. Good luck!
Dan
Wonderful! May I ask how you make the teeth/nails/horn?
+limbodog
Thank you. I make those out of Fimo.
I was looking if you have already answered this question, but I couldn't find anything, what type of cloth do you use in the face? And what is it soaked in? It looks great for moulding.
Hello Fabricio. I use old bed sheets for cloth. I soak it in white glue, like the kids use at school. It does work very well.
Dan
GourmetPaperMache Thank you for your fast response. I've never done that in Brazil unfortunately. I will try my first this weekend. Any tips?
Fabricio Ivasse
Not sure what to say except to give it a try. You will learn by doing I think. Good luck
Dan
Dan
Un trabajo genial, te felicito.
+Alejandra Montoya
¡Muchas gracias!
Su trabajo es exelente Donde aprendio eso
+Mistery Saiyan
Thank you. I am happy that you like the work.
wow!
what did you use to make the horn? it looks like the same stuff you put around the eye of the zombie dragon?? some sort of clay or paste?
I used Fimo, a polymer clay for this horn and the teeth and claws.
Dan
Thought it was a R.O.U.S. ;) Princess Bride
thelastone7139 I dont think those exist ^_^
Todos sus videos son impresionantes.
Que tipo de pintura utiliza ?
+Lisset Anco
Semoga berhasil!
If you don't mind me asking, what was the story behind this one. How did you come up with the idea to make a "unipossom"
+Kyvaille Edge
I wish there was a profound story. But there isn't. I keep getting asked to make a unicorn which I don't want to make ( I made one years ago). So this seemed like a compromise. Thank you
Will this one eventually be up for sale? I collect all things opossum and this is just incredibly awesome!
Hello Lisa. I haven't decided about this one yet. I'll keep you in mind. Thank you.
Dan
GourmetPaperMache It's an awesome 'possum! ;)
doplgangr
Thank you!
You need to make an assassins from assassins creed and do Ezio with his cool armed from Altair
Greg hogge
Thanks for the suggestion!
Great work really! But...what is the White materiale that io use to cover the paper ?:)
Thank you Blore. That is cloth dipped in white glue. I call the process "cloth mache". It works very well.
Dan
thanks man :)
Hey Dan, what kind of "hair" did you used for the Unipossum? :)
Those are human wigs. I cut off chunks and hot glued them on.
Dan
ha, great. thanks :D
Wow it was amazing show and who's hair are those
+Stormyk
Glad you like this. I used wigs for the hair, like you get at costume shops.
Dan
A. MAZE. ING. 💜💙💜💙💜💙💜💙
Thank you! Then again, judging by your profile name, you are biased. :-)
that yellow tape as it is called
+Wilmer Villanueva
That is masking tape.
Dan
Awesome unipossim it looks awesome:-D O:-) ;-) !!!!!
Thanks David.
Dan
GourmetPaperMache hey Dan you should look at my clay sculptures a great white shark and the zombie dragon

😊
Im gonna buy your book... O.O
Thanks. I think you'll like this medium!
Dan
It's fascinating the way you do the work and like always an amazing creature Is awesome...I hate rats :D
Thanks Hilda. I don't like rats either. Opossums are very ugly animals, very rat-like. But that's why I wanted to make one. I just thought it would be fun to cross it with a unicorn. Thanks for watching! Good luck with your art.
Dan
In love with your work. Is always a pleasure to be able to watch it.Thank you for wishing me luck :)
cool
Glad you like this one!
Dan
Dude, you have to make a unicorn
I made a unicorn for my first book. Don't know if I'll make another. But thanks for the suggestion.
Dan
Cool
Thanks Buddy!
Dan
Wow
Glad you like this Connor!
excelente!!!
Muchas gracias!
Dan
What kind of tape do you use? Wonderful work!
Thank you. I just use masking tape, the beige kind (Scotch or 3M brand). Do not use the colored type, blue or green.
Dan
Thank you!
+Lino Nicandro Maldonado Mota

Hello again Stefanie. Glad you like this. Not sure what an un-kitty is though.
Dan
GourmetPaperMache it is a unicorn/ kitty
stefanie andrei
I made one unicorn years ago. I think that's enough for a lifetime. But thanks for the suggestion.
And Dan, did you cut your hair off for this sculpture? Lol
You are funny! I used wigs...although my hair kind of looks like that.
Da
What brand of masking tape do you use
I use 3M (same as Scotchguard) masking tape. Don't use the blue or green tape! It doesn't stick very well.
Dan
hola como estas , me encanta tu trabajo .
disculpa hay una posibilidad que hables español.
quisiera preguntarte alguna cosas gracias.
Viviana .
+Viviana Balbuena
Lo siento, yo no hablo español. Yo uso una traducción. A veces es difícil de entender.

+Viviana Balbuena
I am sorry but I do not understand your questions about the video. Something was lost in translation.
wow! too real for those of us in kansas... lol!
I know...you guys have real opossums with horns in Kansas! ;-)
Thanks Hippy Chick
ha! musta been trippin! :oP
hippy chick
Funny. You talk like a young hippie. I know because I was a true hippie.
i was a hippie child in the 60's 70's and 80's, a hippie wife and mom in the 80's to present day. married 26 years to my loving hippie husband. very happy hippie. :o)
hippy chick
I'm very happy for you. Me too. Peace!
+Lino Nicandro Maldonado Mota
Is the white cloth plaster strips?
That is cloth (bed sheets) dipped in white glue. I call the process "cloth mache."
Man!!! i Love your job!!!! i want do it!!! you have a book to sell?
Thank you Ramon! Yes, I do sell books here, gourmetpapermache.com/about-my-books/
Nice!!! You can send this to brazil?
I can, but I've been told that you get charged some kind of tax that makes it very expensive. My books are available on Kindle devices, if you use one of those.
+GourmetPaperMache I go buy your.book. you sell in PDF? i don't have a Kindle. :( but i can make a download in other format . in the book you say what material use in a dragon? tanks to answer!!! your job is perfect!! you have a friend now in brazil!! bye!
I am sorry, but I don't have a PDF copy. If you look at my blog you can see many projects made, step by step. You don't really need the book.
What is the material you cover it with..... cloth?
The "skin" is cloth (old bed sheets) dipped in white glue.
Just want to know why you made a sweet docile possum look so hideously mean???
I also made fun of the noble, magical, unicorn.
0:50 looks demonic
I agree!
Viviane Perrot That is cloth (bed sheet) dipped in white glue.
👍👍👍👍👍👍
Glad you like this! Thank you!
I love your videos but unipossum, come on
Why not? It's called an imagination.
They are real capfogful. You just never see them because they get run over by cars and eaten by crows before you see them!
Dan
Tilted Asylum - Tamara Dozier
Yes!
Oh, sorry, they are real like the albino dragon, when last time I saw one, and i talked about it nobody belived me.
capfogful
You are too funny! Thanks!
Dan
no ps te la rifas
where do you get the hair at
+Robert Martin
I went to a place that sold Halloween wigs. That's what I used. It's synthetic.
Where do you get the cloth that you use?
Is it cotton?
Those are old bed sheets. Not necessarily cotton, but cotton works great.
Dan
You must have a lot of old bedsheets.
What is the material?
B.D. Bark
I get the bed sheets at thrift stores. I buy the oldest, cheapest, most worn they sell. I've never checked the label. I really don't know what material is in them, probably some combination of synthetics and cotton. Sorry
Dan
hey its my deformed cousin Rick
So funny! Great profile photo!
GourmetPaperMache thanks
Ông này thánh mẹ rồi !!
What do you use for adhesive?
I use flour and water paste for the paper mache pieces. After sculpting with the pieces I add a layer of "skin" using cloth (old bed sheets) dipped in white glue (I prefer Elmer's Glue All).
@@Gourmetpapermache Awesome, I was going to ask about that cloth like layer. Appreciate the tips! I was going to make a Halloween costume out of paper mache but procrastinated. It's a fun medium though! Cool channel. Keep on keeping on✌️
@@lifeofoatis Thank you for the nice remarks. Give this medium a try at some point. You will love it. Take care
Dan
what do you use for hair
Hello Robert. I used 3 different wigs. I put on chunks of the hair with hot glue and then trimmed with scissors.
Dan
ok thanks
Robert Martin
I used to get wigs at Thrift stores. They don't sell them anymore. That's a bummer. But you can still get the synthetic wigs they sell in costume stores.
Dan
thanks
eso blanco es gasa o lienzo?
That is cloth (bed sheets) dipped in white glue.
¡Buena suerte!
