      Thank you Johnny. It's funny, you are the first person to consider my making fun of bankers as political. That, and having "dollar" as your login name, I suspect you must be a banker yourself. But since you brought it up.... I would point out that there was not a single conviction of any financier after the 2008 recession in the US despite the fact that all of the largest banks knowingly sold toxic CDOs filled with subprime mortgages. Many argue that contributed in a major way to the economic downturn. Despite knowing the risks involved with buying CDOs the richest of the rich decided that their money was somehow sacred and that their risk should be borne by taxpayers. And, after getting bailed out to the tune of billions of taxpayer dollars those same financiers, the ones who got us into that mess, were like pigs at a trough giving themselves enormous bonuses while thousands of people lost their homes, jobs, and retirement incomes. Even though my video was tongue in cheek, it's hard to imagine a more fitting group to poke fun at. Still, I'm sorry if I hit a nerve. I appreciate you taking the time to write and the nice remarks about my painting. Take care

    what a coincidence that you posted a video today. I ordered your new book a few weeks ago and it arrived today. I love the dedication to your cats and all the pictures you included them in throughout the book. As a cat owner and cat shelter volunteer i really enjoyed it. My cat even sat on my lap while i watched this video and looked through the book so i'm sure if i ever find the time to make something she'll be "helping" me a lot too.

    • @Gourmetpapermache
      @Gourmetpapermache  6 месяцев назад +1

      Hello. As you can see on my videos after sculpting with paper mache pieces I add a "skin" of cloth (old bed sheets) dipped in white glue (I like Elmer's Glue All). As you can see at the 1:38 part of the video I took strips of cloth and folded them (to give them some bulk) and layered them on on top of the other. I made sure that the folded cloth strips of glue soaked cloth were loose so that they wouldn't lay flat, do that they looked open. I started from the back and worked forward as you can see on the video. That's all there is to it. There is nothing more complicated than that. I hope that is sufficient. I did discuss the making of the shark on my blog, here, papermacheblog.com/2014/11/05/paper-mache-great-bite-shark/. It's not very detailed but it might offer something I missed. Good luck!

      Hello Richard. I buy my eyes online, some from taxidermy companies, some from other sources. You can find them all if you google "glass eyes taxidermy." There aren't that many places and they all sell slightly different styles and kinds of eyes. I don't remember what the eyes for this project were made for exactly. I used them becasue they were just very dark. Good luck!

      Hello Raquel. I just use all purpose paint. I buy it at Home Depot, usually the Rustoleum brands. But any water based paint works great. Good luck!

      Thank you Nace. I make the teeth out of polymer clay. Brands include Fimo and Sculpey. It's not perfect. They can break. But it works better than anything else I've tried. Good luck1

    • @Gourmetpapermache
      @Gourmetpapermache  8 лет назад +1

      I make the teeth out of Fimo, a polymer clay. The "skin" is cloth (bed sheets) dipped in white, all purpose glue.

  • @animatemasta
    @animatemasta 8 лет назад

    Instead of using cloth dipped in white glue at the end, how about using a thin layer of plaster gauze and when it dries sand it down a bit to get a smoother finish? :)

    • @Gourmetpapermache
      @Gourmetpapermache  8 лет назад +1

      You can do that. But plaster gauze is very heavy, expensive, and it doesn't sand well because of the fabric.
