Cheers Markus for the video. I need to fix my T5 break button, it’s broken. Now I feel safe to open it after I watch your video. So helpful. Thank you for sharing
+Mike Case Hi Mike, It's the problem of things getting smaller and smaller to the point when one day circuit boards along with the components will just be printed out in one piece and nobody will be able to repair anything. Just download the board and print out a new one at home. Im sure we are heading that way... I could barely see the Leds and in the past I lost one doing a similar job. It was stuck on the end of the soldering iron just cooking away while i searched the desk and board for it.
I am watching your videos and I am surprised that lots of problems could be fixed just by single simple operation :) Also helped me to fix some my old stuff. Keep it coming!

Hey Markus, hope you are well - Loved the vid I've been asked Yamaha several times to produce a portable midi-file player with T5 sounds, like many other brands do to this day. Yamaha say there's no demand for it, yet they continue to produce pro midi-file backing tracks? Could you, or are you aware of anyone who could remove the unwanted features (such as the keys), and rehouse into a smaller portable unit (e.g with 3d printing)? Many Thanks Gaz
Hi Gaz. I guess the unit could be placed into a smaller unit as removing the keybed should not stop it from working though to be honest i have not tried it and it may throw up a fault if it cannot connect to its own keyboard. it would be nice if it could be made into a smaller unit that looks something like the ketron sd-90 . im guessing that is the sort of thing you mean. ?.
Yes indeed Markus - just seen that, brill. I'll stick a link onto the Yamaha RUclips and Faceache sites. If you ever decide to do such with a Tyros, please let me know how you went on - Thanks
Love your videos my friend, I have a tyros 3 and all my A keys and Eb keys are having the same issue which is if using a piano sound they will play louder then the rest of the keys and then stop working after the first touch and when using a sound like an organ the will play louder and then just continue playing only stopping after I shut the keyboard off, was hoping you could have a solution for my problem, thank you, regards, Sergio
Hello Sergio. I am sorry but I do not know what the problem is and do not have an answer as to what to do. I think you would have to take the keyboard apart and test all the connections from the keybed to the main board just incase something has gone wrong on the keybed as it is all the A keys and Eb keys thats where I would start.
Nice video! Very helpful, because I am worried about my own keyboard and pc configuration (contains hundreds of rgb LED's) if one or more LED's have trouble, but I'm reassured now. ;)
Thank you for this movie. I hav to disassemble my Tyros 5, because one of the Registry Buttons was pressed in the casing, and i guess it was snapping out of the frame.
hello from Mexco! Great video ! thank you for shearing, plese help, i am haveing a problem with my yamaha sy55, if you play certain keys like F+F# on the 1st. octave you can hear a C# for a second, makeing for an unwanteda noise, and wonder if you coud have any sugestions, thanks again!
+luisytomy64 Hello luisytomy64 and Hello Mexico :-) . I have never had a SY55 so am not sure what your problem is or how it is caused. The only thing i can suggest is maybe try the factory reset 1. Press the [SELECT] [ EXIT] and [UTILITY] buttons after turning on the power. "this enters the test mode" 2. Press the [SELECT] button then the [+1 YES] button. that may fix the problem though I can not be sure. but be careful as this will also reset any personal settings you have made yourself.
Hi Markus😊 .. It's me again, Jason from Malaysia. I have a major issues in my Tyros5 keyboard. Whenever l do a recording on the keyboard using Audio Recorder/Player, an error message pops out in the Main Screen, stating ..'This Drive Is Busy' 😅 .. l have reset the keyboard system and foramtting them keyboard hard disk and USB. Nothing seems ti work. The error message will pops out whenever l do recording on the keyboard. During normal play on the keyboard, this issue l do not encountered. It's only during audio recording. Do you have any idea what's is happening in the keyboard? Yamaha Corporation Malaysia, their technical team not able to detect what's wrong on the keyboard. It's complicated issues.
Greetings! Thanks for the video. I have a question. A friend of mine bought a T5 a couple of months ago. Everything is nice, the only problem is it has a permanent hiss orr buzz sound. We tried changing cables, even connected it to a ups, no change. What could be the problem? Thank you!
I really do not know where you should start looking there. have you tried the output into a separate amplifier and speakers instead of the tyros satellite speakers or vice versa to check if the buzz comes through or even the auxiliary output sockets.
Mark, one of my key is broke. Can you make a video how to fix it, and where can I buy the broken key? I will be appreciated if you can provide some guidance. Thanks,
Awesome video, thanks for sharing! I love your funny effects in the beginning. :-) And what a great idea to "just" resolder the LED... How did you know the upper LED was the blue one and the lower LED the amber one?
+Maarten Bijster Hi Maarten, Thankyou. The multimeter i was using to test the led can be set to diode test, this gives out a small voltage across the contacts and it is just enough to make the LED slightly glow. so the top Leds are blue and the bottom amber. Best wishes from markus
@markusfuller I have a Tyros 2 and one of my buttons stopped working. I presume it's either a solder or in worst case the tactile switch under the button needs replacing. Do you know where to source original Yamaha parts for these keyboards? Your help will be much appreciated!
Hello if it is one of the tactile switches you can buy them from online places like rs-electronics or mouser. they are a pretty standard switch but they do come in different heights so its best to try and measure as accurately as possible before ordering a replacement. plus it can be a bit of a struggle going through all the different sizes and heights to find the correct one. I do have a few tactile switches here so if you know the size let me know and if i have one you can gladly have it but i cannot remember the size that the tyros used as i sold my tyros. good luck.
Great video...I'm pretty handy with a soldering iron but I would have messed this up...wow so tiny. I own a Tyros 2 and would love a 5 but they still have a high resale price....one day I'll get one.
Hello you may be able to change the push button on the circuit board under the plastic D button. they are quite a standard sort of pcb mount bush button.
Hello Dee. I am really sorry but I do not know where you will be able to find a replacement. I sometimes see yamaha keyboard parts on ebay, also there is a facebook page called synthesizer spares and repairs where you may be able to ask if anyone has parts .
@@markusfuller thanks for the fast answer. The problem is that all the displays are dameged at the age. A new one for 700€ is a joke, is there no other display what can used instead the original? I mean, it is just a display :-)
Dietmar Delissen I agree the price is far too high for a replacement. you could use the video out from the back of the tyros and plug it into a monitor. its the D-shaped socket with 15 pin holes, you just need a computer monitor or tv set that has the D-Sub connector on it. most old computer monitors had this connector and the tyros will display everything that it has on its old smaller flip screen onto a larger monitor.
Hello Markus, thank you verymuch for video ! As owner of Tyros 5, I got one issue. The Led button "Break" unfortunately caved in (upper part) . I would like to know detail of that push button "holder" mechanism ... :) I do not mean that you dismount Tyros for me again :D for detail picture :) When you opened the top cover , I could see a bit but not detail... :) I do not have courage to open this expensive instrument by myself :) . Anyway, great job and thank you for sharing !! Robert
+Robert Ramík Hello Robert the actual button is an off the shelf push button but if it has caved in then the plastic button cover (the part you press on the surface of the tyros) has a small plastic post that makes contact with the button on the board and the post may have been broken so the top part will look like it has dropped in slightly. you could check it on the underside against the buttons next to it and maybe re-glue the plastic post back into place so it touches the button on the board. or add some height to the button on the board so it touches the top plastic push part on the tyros surface.
Nice video thank you... Can you please tell me, Why my tyros 2 gets stuck at the Yamaha logo? It is booting problem. I can't do reset. Please help me. Best regards
Hi .. l'm Jason from Malaysia. My Tyros5 has a problem. The BREAK BUTTON does not respond when l press it. The Main Variation button .. A, B, C, and D are operating well to my touches on these 4 buttons, but not the BREAK button. Any idea what's the fault?
Hi Mark newly subscribed to your channel. you sound very English although you were talking about product COST's in dollar & cent's, but I take it you reside in England & have to send to America for your parts ? however ! i enjoyed your very informed repairs videos, & wondered....do you extend your workmanship to Roland models ? VA-7 in participant ? i may pick up some tips !
Hello Terry, I have taken a few Roland items apart in my other videos but not had the VA-7, Is it an arranger keyboard ? variphase?. yes i live in UK brighton
+markusfuller hi Mark ty for reply ! yes my VA-7 is a v-arranger/variphrase model type,& I hv had 14 good yes of playing until few mths back. when the on/off button inside the unit packed in just after I realised one hammer key stopped playing its note ! just wondered if the 2items had a joining connection? & would I hv to send off for the parts from Roland head office or get an engineer from Roland to repair ? or if you had at tips ? I've spoke with one engineer.. who only specialise in vintage Roland: & just said he can't fix mine or would'nt even look at it !no matter wot it cost of repair. Just wondered Mark if you could give me any advice ty for you input.Im playing a Yamaha psr 750 at moment yes nearly vintage itself lol. miss me Roland !
Hi Terry. You could bypass the on/off button if its a mains switch on the back but if it is a small push button it could just need the contacts cleaning. same with the non working key it maybe has a rubber/carbon button under the key and they sometimes collect dust and will just stop working though thats a longer job as you have to remove the key and lift the rubber contact to clean underneath it. I do not believe they are both a connected fault though, just 2 seperate faults.
hi markus....i live and work in Creete-Greece and i use for many years yamaha keyboards psr 8000-9000 tyros1 and tyros 2. this last year some of the keys of my tyros2 start loosing teir stability and they don't return in their top position ...in fact they stay 1 to 5 mm lower so when i hit the same key 2-3 or more times some notes don't sound....I 've tried to change the position of the keys so i moved C3 to C1 or E3 to E4 ...at first it seemed to improve the problem but after a few days the same problem appeared in the same area even whith a changed key.....i don't know what makes the keys to return in their original position....can it be that metal thing under the key or is it something else?...Yamaha service in Athens say that they can't do anything and they want me to change the whole keyboard with the whole mechanism under something that costs over 700 euros....that's crazy for an 8 year old keyboard,on the other side i want to save my TYROS because i love it.Since the economic situation in greece is not very good for anyone theese days,i wonder if you have any idea of how to help me save my keyboard and some money......i would like very match to hear your opinion.......VANGELIS!!!!!!!!!!!
+vangelis bitzarakis Hello Vangelis, that is a problem I have not hear about before. the keys never wear down. there may be small plastic posts under the key which press down on the rubber dome connectors and they should all be the same length, if they have been broken slightly they could sit lower than the other keys. look under the keys again and see if there is any difference between the faulty key and a key that works correctly. if you take them both out and place them on a flat surface you should see if theres broken piece. other than that I cannot think what may be the problem without seeing the keys myself. ps 700euros is far too much money for a keybed.
+markusfuller Thanks for the answer...since i must work for the next 3 nights, i will not open it till monday......so next week i will come back with the results ...if there is any.....thanks again!!!!!
Hey, I have a Tyros 1 (approx 12 years old with weekly use), My tyros has started to shut down intermittently. Any thoughts on what might be causing this issue. I have verified that the AC power cable has no defect. Thanks in advance on any tips you can share to help me resole this.
Hello Im not sure i can help there as I too would have gone straight for the power supply being the problem. not the cable but the power supply within the tyros.
Great job, I would suggest two additional things; as you said, this is probably better to use a (binocular) microscope or magnifying glasses to do this job. Secondly, if the solder was bad on one LED (due probably to the new solder pastes without lead), this can probably happen later with another LEDs, and then it should be better to redo the solder on all the LEDs, to avoid any future problem.
+Body67 Seriously I could not possibly resolder all the leds, there are so many of them, but yes I too blame this new horrible lead free solder, I use to chew lead airgun pellets when I was a kid LOL.
Nice. I am not into auto-accompaniment keyboards (aside from the Casio HT-6000 maybe) even if this Yamaha looks more professional without having speakers (HT-6000 had speakers), but it's nice to look inside of a Yamaha product. My favorite Yamaha keyboards are SY77 and SY99. I'd like to have an Electone HX1, but I am not able to find one in good condition on eBay. It's also a problem to ship the HX1 because it's a two-manual organ. Prices will probably start going up on that one also. So, the HX1 is just going to remain just a dream for me...
Hi guys Anyone know where I can buy the blue miniature LED for my Tyros 4? I opened my Tyros but the LED seems to be burned. Thanks for any information.
Hi .. it's me, Jason from Malaysia. I forgot to say that when l switched on the keyboard, the BREAK button lighted up clearly n bright. The problem is when l press this button, the light does not blinks and there are no breaks, no response. I'm wondering what is wrong with the BREAK button.
I Mark...I have a problem with my Tyros 5...the key G1 to C2 doesn't work...no sound at all...the other keys are ok...I did a factory reset and nothing change....I don't know what to do
Hello Luc, It sounds as though you may have a cracked copper track on the printed curcuit board that is fitted under the keys or it may be a fault in the ribbon connector that connects the keyboard to the main circuit board, I only guess this as you say there is seven keys all in a row that do not work and when that happens it is very often just 1 connection in the keyboard switching matrix that is the problem. I am surprised you have this fault on a not very old instrument.
@@markusfuller Thank you for your quick response. I'm surprised too. I own the keyboard for only 6 years. Is the problem due to an electrical overload... because a few days ago, there were thunderstorms and power outages. Another disorder I noticed in this region of faulty notes. when the notes worked, there was a note that played really louder than the others. enough to startle me..weird.
Thank you for video. I bought used Tyros 4. It have non-working function AFTERTOUCH. Test show that no signal. I hope to repair by my own hands, because I have no money for professional.
Hello I just have to look through Google to buy ICs. I do not have a specific place where you can buy them from. you have to just try and find them on the internet. Good luck
I have this problem many times where I just cannot buy the part I need. I understand how frustrating it can be to not be able to buy the part you need.
Hello all well? My name is Elias, I'm from Brazil, short your videos, will u help me? I have a Yamaha Electone fx 20, and this spoiling pots of flutes are in a drawer beneath the console, I wonder if you can others to spare? awaiting response ... thank you!
Hi Michael. no problem about dropping patreon I totally understand. I hope you get some work soon, I have been in that situation many times and know just what it can be like. Best wishes and good luck.
+Niels Kingma Hi Niels, I have been asked that question before. I love Colin Furze's video's and never miss one. He is building a nuclear bunker at the moment. Brilliant guy - I wish I was related to him. what a laugh we could have :-)
Yamaha use a lot of their own DSP chips for sound processing the signals, the computer board actually uses advanced math to do what the WERSI used many chips to do.
Check the Korg Kronos and the built quality compared to this. Yamaha are so cheaply built. This is the proof just an empty shell. I dont if people say Yamaha make their chips and they superior. I dont think so. Charging people £4000 new for that when released its a joke after what i just saw. No excuse i am afraid. Yamaha being greedy. Hope they improve with Tyros 6.
Ahahaha it's very funny ,for the second plan on this video ,you markus you very small compared at this tyros 5 . this Tyros 5 is very big ,but i think it's one effect of the camera ? After thank you good job
ColinW Hi Colin, there are so many people with different tastes and so many instruments to choose from that I could never possibly recommend anything to anyone as I make mistakes and change my own mind with the gear I think I need and sometimes the gear I dont think is for me can become something I end up keeping.
Theres many reasons the tyros 5 or any other keyboard stops making sound it could be the audio output stage or something wrong in the settings or even the amplifier or speakers at fault. I cannot guess what the problem may be . sorry.
These T4s and 5s I notice have all sorts of issues wrong with them yet people are still wanting silly money for them. Be careful when buying used keyboards because you might just be throwing you hard earned money down the toilet like I have. £1850 and mine lasted 4 weeks G# Notes dont work and lcd knackered. £600 quote to repair
brilliant casual way of explaining possibly complicated things into words that most can understand. as is all your videos
Cheers Markus for the video. I need to fix my T5 break button, it’s broken. Now I feel safe to open it after I watch your video. So helpful. Thank you for sharing

hope you are well - Loved the vid
I've been asked Yamaha several times to produce a portable midi-file player with T5 sounds, like many other brands do to this day. Yamaha say there's no demand for it, yet they continue to produce pro midi-file backing tracks? Could you, or are you aware of anyone who could remove the unwanted features (such as the keys), and rehouse into a smaller portable unit (e.g with 3d printing)?
Many Thanks
Gaz
I like this channel.
Could you do Korg Krome EX as well? Please! Thanks.
Thanks for the input my friend, I will check the connections
Good video Mark, very interesting and always good to see whats inside :)
+Keith Horton Thankyou Keith. I'm waiting for the Tyros 6 now :-)
Great job!!!!! Thanks Danny.
The only thing i can suggest is maybe try the factory reset
1. Press the [SELECT] [ EXIT] and [UTILITY] buttons after turning on the power. "this enters the test mode"
Great job Markus, i am in awe !
+Neil Robinson It was the simplest fix and I only agreed to fix it so I could get a look inside it. They sound amazing.
Love the editing. The special effects department must have been working overtime :)
+Nicholas Michels It was a little of fun doing the FX - Im glad it worked out in the final video. :-)
Thanks,
Hello! thanks you for your videos! I wonder why don't you do more korg keyboards, however I am very grateful of what you have shared so far. 😀
+yamil lora Hello I can only make video,s on the gear I can get. I see your point though there is not many Korg video,s yet. Im still new at this.
I use a magnetic tray to hold screws, so they don't get lost. Good fix!
hi markus havent seen you on youtube for a while hope to see you on again .
+Karl Bedford Every new Tyros version that arrives lowers the price of the previous Tyros's. one day these will be much cheaper i'm sure
Mark! Brilliant as always!
+Marc Abernathy Thanks Marc
Hi! Markusfuller,
The D button on main variation style control A-D was broken, still function but broke down. Is any part or how to repair it? thanks
Hello you may be able to change the push button on the circuit board under the plastic D button. they are quite a standard sort of pcb mount bush button.
Hey, good job! I have a question, i have a Tyros2 with a broken display, is there any idea for a replacement display? Rgeards Dee
Dietmar Delissen I agree the price is far too high for a replacement. you could use the video out from the back of the tyros and plug it into a monitor. its the D-shaped socket with 15 pin holes, you just need a computer monitor or tv set that has the D-Sub connector on it. most old computer monitors had this connector and the tyros will display everything that it has on its old smaller flip screen onto a larger monitor.
where is the battery in the tyros 5 - and video showing how to unsolder it in its location?
Hi please three of my Tyros 4 keys have collasped and laying flat and of clurse not making any sound. Do you think i can fix it by swiching the keys?
+markusfuller Thank you very much , dear Markus ! :) I will check ! Looking forward more videos from you !
Nice video thank you...
Can you please tell me, Why my tyros 2 gets stuck at the Yamaha logo?
It is booting problem. I can't do reset.
Please help me.
Best regards
I have a problem with with my tyros 1 do you where I might get it fixed thanks
Hi .. l'm Jason from Malaysia. My Tyros5 has a problem. The BREAK BUTTON does not respond when l press it. The Main Variation button .. A, B, C, and D are operating well to my touches on these 4 buttons, but not the BREAK button. Any idea what's the fault?
Hi Mark
newly subscribed to your channel.
you sound very English although you were talking about product COST's in dollar & cent's, but I take it you reside in England & have to send to America for your parts ?
however ! i enjoyed your very informed repairs videos, & wondered....do you extend your workmanship to Roland models ?
Yes please do let me know what you find. This is very interesting to me. best wishes from Markus
Great and very interresting video.
Thank's a lot

+markusfuller Yeah they use lead-free for Military and medical here in the states.
Gracias amigo, buen video.
Me gustaría si pudieras hacer un video con tyros para el cambio de las almohadillas de las teclas......Gracias
Hi guys
Anyone know where I can buy the blue miniature LED for my Tyros 4?
I opened my Tyros but the LED seems to be burned.
Thanks for any information.
online store,,very cheap price
Hello there!! all the buttons on the LCD panel on my yamaha tyros 5 not working i don't know what was wrong with it.
Hi .. it's me, Jason from Malaysia.
I hope to repair by my own hands, because I have no money for professional.
hello markus
do you have the schematic diagram of tyros 5 its very interesting
Hi sorry but I cannot get hold of the schematics for the tyros. yamaha seems to hold these back for a few years.
Hi, Where are you located for repairs of my tyros 5
Would you know how to fixed a squeeking key on a tyros 5?
Very good mark. Thanks for sharing
+CONCERTSEC Thankyou Nigel. Look forward to seeing you soon :-)
thanks and i saw Genome might replace the Tyros 5
Q es el problema q se le va la bombilla?
Hi, I want to buy IC X8940A00 but I dont know how to buy, please show me how to buy. Thank you.
Hello I just have to look through Google to buy ICs. I do not have a specific place where you can buy them from. you have to just try and find them on the internet. Good luck
I have found it on Google, but no any store sell it. It's too difficult to me.
Thanks
I have this problem many times where I just cannot buy the part I need. I understand how frustrating it can be to not be able to buy the part you need.
Hi Mark can you video how to change screen tyros 5 E button is not working in my tyros 5 and I ordered part already please help thanks
Hello Juan, The Tyros I took apart belongs to a friend of mine and I don't think he will let me take it apart again
thx for this! Am tempeted to get a T5 but might wait for the T6
There is always another Tyros coming so you will never catch up.
ok thx, 76 note is the minimum I want
Yes I think the T6 will be quite interesting, what can they add to make it an improvement on the T5 ?. Im guessing at least a touchscreen maybe ?.
any dates?
Not heard any reliable dates for the T6 release as yet. but I heard in the grapevine that it may be named as the "Genome" .
excellent work
Sir can you provide me a link to buy roland fantom xa's keys.

Hello all well? My name is Elias, I'm from Brazil, short your videos, will u help me? I have a Yamaha Electone fx 20, and this spoiling pots of flutes are in a drawer beneath the console, I wonder if you can others to spare? awaiting response ... thank you!
I would be worried turning it over would damage controllers and buttons
that is pretty well constructed keyboard. FYI, if I drop Patreon, it's not on you. I have been without a job since Jan.
Hi Michael. no problem about dropping patreon I totally understand. I hope you get some work soon, I have been in that situation many times and know just what it can be like. Best wishes and good luck.
Great video! ...Subscribed!
Greetings Rolton Crasta.
+Rolton Crasta ThankYou Rolton. have you seen the facebook page for tyros owners. its pretty interesting.
No. I have not seen... I will check it..
Thanks for the suggestion

+markusfuller Thank you! have a nice day
Are you related to colin furze you sound and look exactly like him
+Niels Kingma Hi Niels, I have been asked that question before. I love Colin Furze's video's and never miss one. He is building a nuclear bunker at the moment. Brilliant guy - I wish I was related to him. what a laugh we could have :-)
nice work!
awesome video
Yamaha use a lot of their own DSP chips for sound processing the signals, the computer board actually uses advanced math to do what the WERSI used many chips to do.
+DAVID GREGORY KERR Hi David. Yes Yamaha has been working their own chips for many years now. they are very versatile in what they achieve.
WOW you got lucky there.
Seems you've done something right.
+iFIMKATUBE If only all fixes were this straightforward.
What is your camera?
+Дмитрий Шаповал Hello I use the Canon Vixia HF21
+markusfuller thanks, Markus
Why do you have a US dollar lying around?
theres several currencies of notes and coins I have around the house, I especially collect old silver dollars.
Ahahaha it's very funny ,for the second plan on this video ,you markus you very small compared at this tyros 5 .
this Tyros 5 is very big ,but i think it's one effect of the camera ?
After thank you good job
I've seen you digging into a number of machines, now be daring and recommend one to me. Ta.
ColinW Hi Colin, there are so many people with different tastes and so many instruments to choose from that I could never possibly recommend anything to anyone as I make mistakes and change my own mind with the gear I think I need and sometimes the gear I dont think is for me can become something I end up keeping.
my tyros 5 no sound just wanna know what wrong
Theres many reasons the tyros 5 or any other keyboard stops making sound it could be the audio output stage or something wrong in the settings or even the amplifier or speakers at fault. I cannot guess what the problem may be . sorry.
Top bloke
Great job....SUBBED....greets Danny.
+DannyKey Thanks DannyKey
+DannyKey Hey Danny, I have been watching some of your music video's - they are very good , I wish I could read music but never got around to it.
Great thank you
+StickAroundBennett Thankyou too :-)

+carbonatedbrainsauce Thankyou :-)
These T4s and 5s I notice have all sorts of issues wrong with them yet people are still wanting silly money for them. Be careful when buying used keyboards because you might just be throwing you hard earned money down the toilet like I have. £1850 and mine lasted 4 weeks G# Notes dont work and lcd knackered. £600 quote to repair
steady,,,,,says jarre jarre
