Dear Zoe, I don't think peopple follow you only because you are positive and real, but because that is a part of your personality. At least, that is why I follow you. It doesn't really matter if you are making pancakes, chatting to Mark or showing us your life. It's YOU people want to see! I think you should just be yourself and try to stop overthinking it and trying to live up to expectations, you'll probably be happier for it even if some people will drag you at first. There will be more people who admire you for being the real you 😊
Zoe, your channels are the only channels that I have consistently watched from the moment I subscribed years and years ago. I always go through phases of watching other channels but there is something so unique and welcoming about your content and personality. I have never felt disinterested in anything you have posted. When I watch your videos there is warmth and familiarity. I truely believe that everyone is so drawn to your content because your personality seems supportive, wholesome and kind. I think your channels are a place for people to feel safe and not intimidated to be something or someone else. You are a person that everyone can imagine easily being friends with. I’m sad to hear that you feel constricted at times. So many people value your thoughts, opinions and emotions. Keep up the wonderful work and continue doing what you love.

I'm from America and have watched you for a while (three years?) I love watching you grow. And with the new office, your book, new ranges each step I get so excited to see and don't ever scrutinize in the way some people do. It may be more of a local (GB) thing it something to do with younger fans. I just want you know. Whether it's how much you post, what you post, or who you choose to hang out with. It doesn't matter. It's so hard to relax when I know things can be misconstrued and people can take offence to things that were never intended to be offensive!!
And even when I think I've been as careful as possible, I'll still get those comments letting me know I'm wrong!
I follow your vlogs because I feel like I can relate to you so much and your vlogs are like little chats/days out with a friend (from the comfort of the sofa) and we are so similar it's quite crazy!!

Well I surely didn't have enough space to express why I followed you on your instagram question, so allow me to do it here. My best friend showed me your channel 6 years ago telling me how much we looked alike (looks and personality wise) ((I do not see the looks but major compliment haha)) and I started following you. You were the first person I followed on youtube, before I even realized what youtube was! (wasn't that much of a big deal in Portugal before haha). Throughout the years you have inspired me SO much with your videos, you motivate me with your vlogs to be organized, to be happy, to spread love and positivity. Thanks to you I created my own youtube channel 4 years ago and I can tell you it was the BEST decision of my life. So for that, I say THANK YOU. Thank you for inspiring so many people with what you do. Thank you for being inspiring, thank you for being a part of our lives and putting a big smile in our faces when nothing else does.
Cheesiness aside, I would absolutely love (and I think it would be good for you too) if you did a clean, not much edited video, just expressing your opinion on whatever comes to your mind. Sometimes it's good to talk about things, and maybe you'll see how many people actually agree with you.
I know it's pointless to say and honestly you'll most likely not even be reading this haha but, I know you have all the eyes watching you and ready to attack, but you have a lot more eyes and hearts ready to defend you and be there for you. Please don't be afraid to be yourself.

OKAY. SO. You fill up the 3L once and pour it in the 5L so that the 3 is empty and the 5 is at 3. You then fill up the 3L again and fill up the rest of the 5, leaving 1L in the 3 (because you pour 2 in the 5 to top it off) the. Pour out the full 5L. You take the 1L into the 5 and fill up the 3 again. Pour the full 3L into the 5L leaving you with 4L in the 5L bottle. BOOM

I hate that you don't feel like you can be yourself online at the moment. I was literally so happy when I saw your video pop up tonight as I have had a really crappy week, starting with a car accident and just felt down about everything but I put your video on because I know no matter what watching you makes me feel comforted and happy. I watch because you feel like a close friend even though I am 27 I wish I had a friend like you around me who is genuine, kind and a good bloody person, those traits seem hard to come by these days. Since I first subscribed I look forward to what ever video you choose to share because you're friendly, real and relatable. Zoe, I think it's very important for you to be more "real" and make the videos that you want to make because we want to see your true authentic self. People are attracted to your authenticity. That's one of the reasons why I've followed you for so long. You've always been like the older sister I've never had. Why do I follow you?
I know you may not see this and that this may be buried in the avalanche of comments but I feel like I had to answer this. (Even if it is rather late.)I remember when I was battling what I now know are panic attacks at the age of 16 ( literally 6 years ago) I didn't know what it was and I felt out of place. I googled my symptoms and everything kept pointing me towards a panic disorder. I then googled panic disorders and I found your video. I remember feeling like I was talking to a friend, it was raw and full of words I didn't know I needed to hear until I heard them. I can't speak for the 12 million plus subscribers you have but I want you to know that I have noticed the mask you've put on. I can see your struggle with wanting to be you and wanting to stay out of the toxic nature media ( youtube or other) has tried to drag you into. In a world where people are simply waiting for others to fall in order to pick them apart, I chose to follow you not because you portrayed this stay positive personality. I followed you because you proved to me that despite being imperfect, despite having bad days and despite making mistakes we all deserve our best chance at being happy. You let us in to your world and showed us that being vulnerable was true strength. It may mean nothing but to me your channel is my home ( I know sounds cheesy) but it is. Zoe as you once told us " Don't let anyone or anything control your life,".

Hi Zoe! Don’t be afraid to be yourself. There are so many people on the internet that are going to try to make something out of nothing and that really sucks. However, I think those that have been watching you for a long time will know and understand your true intentions. I love your content so so much and you being more yourself would be all the more entertaining and amazing.
I'm so happy you're opening up about how you're feeling and I hope there's more of this type of content in your future! I feel like I have noticed you holding your breath for a while. And it seems as if you're more guarded now vs before (which is warranted in light of the online culture towards *everyone* right now). This one comment won't make much of a difference, but I hope you know that being vulnerable is important, but that doesn't mean everyone will approve. You have people who know you to your core and followers who truly appreciate you. People who've seen two videos and 100 pics on Instagram have no idea who you are and still feel entitled to speak about you. We understand if you keep yourself guarded, but I hope you begin to feel like you're able to be truly yourself online again.

I feel like the internet is getting more negative. People, content, comments, creators, etc. I remember years ago everyone was way more helpful with each other but now.. everyone is so into drama, negativity and just waiting to ruin a creator. And then some RUclipsrs jump into the same train and follow/ give opinions on the drama.

as a viewer and purely a viewer, I can 100% say that I (and probably a large percentage of your usual audience) would love to see you do things you love on your channel and feel more like yourself and I would totally appreciate, embrace, and love if you did that. Its okay to grow and change, people can't expect you to be the same person you were when you were 19. That's ridiculous! Anyway, much love, and I will always support whatever you are doing. I actually subscribed to Alfie when he daily vlogged because you were in the videos, I still watch his videos for him, but more for you. You're interesting, positivity is great but just you is what people want.
Zoe its like this for everyone that gets older, Everyone needs to takes a step back and evaluate their lives!! Especially when you feel that there is negativity everywhere. Believe me it happens for everyone but obviously not to the same extent as your situation but it can and will get better as you take charge of your life 😘

This is exactly why I love watching your videos. When we say you're "real", this is exactly what we mean. You're honest and brave for sharing your feelings. I can understand how it would be scary to "show your true colors" because you're afraid of the judgement and/or rude, dumb people who don't necessarily like the real you. But, you can't let that fear be in the way of feeling truly happy! That is why you started your channel in the first place because it made you happy and you could be yourself. We are all beautiful creations in our own, unique way, and we need to remember that and love who we are! The people who really love you and love watching you will stick with you and not judge you. I totally agree with you when you say that people aren't empathetic or real anymore. I AGREE SOOOO MUCH!! We do need to dial it down and remember that people still have feelings and the internet doesn't give you the whole story. So, thank you so much for being honest and real with us. Zoe!! My heart hurts cause I was one of the people who responded to your insta question saying that I love your positivity. I never realized how stressful that can be... thinking that if you’re not always cheery and upbeat that people won’t think you’re you. I guess a better way to say it would be that I follow you for your product reviews, watching your business endeavors, and I love your sense of style, both clothing and homeware. Also all of your deep talks give me a different perspective on various situations that are similar to my life and I love that. I have no idea why, but her conversation hurt me a little. It’s like having your close friend tell you that they don’t feel like they can be honest with you. And I 100% know it’s not personal because she does not know me haha!! But it hurt me to know that she isn’t being 100% open and feels like she can’t be herself. Zoe, I completely understand and your metaphor for how you're feeling is literally my life except I work at a dog groomers instead of a zoo and it's my boss who is always watching me, waiting for me to mess up and even if I don't she still has to think of something to moan about every single day. I have been there for a year now and it was like this from about a month in and it has given me depression and made my anxiety a lot worse. I wake up anxious about going in to work every day, and I am only now leaving. I don't know why I didn't before but both me and my friend are leaving that toxic place for good and instead going to travel to, like you said, reset our lives. I think having a break is a good idea, take time to yourself and think of what OU really want and what makes YOU happy xxx
I normally never respond to your video's, but I felt like this one deserved some extra love. You're such an amazing person and you've inspired so many, but I can understand why you feel the way you do. I can't even imagine what it would feel like having millions of people who expect certain things from you and trying to keep up with all those opinions. I want you to know that you should never doubt yourself, because whatever it is that you are putting online we all know that it is something you've poured your heart into. Wether it's your beauty range, your books or your video's. That is what makes your content so enjoyable and why I think people feel like you're positive and real. Offcourse video's are only a fraction of your life and you might feel like you're not being completely yourself, but know that whatever it is you want to put out there, as long as it is something you love - others will to.

I see a lot of other youtubers talking about the same thing lately. That they can’t express their feelings or thoughts afraid of stepping on someone’s toes. People will twist things and make it something that it’s not. And it seems like everyone gets offended these days. I can just imagine how much pressure and hard it can be living as an influencer. As long as you don’t plan on hurting someone, you can only be yourself. People appreciate honesty and I just think you have to decide to stand behind everything you’re saying. Be confident in your choices. At the end of the day you can comfort yourself that you’re just a human being doing mistakes. BUT being yourself while doing it. You’re the first person I followed on RUclips. Here I am eight-nine years later. Still as interested as then 😊 you’re doing something right!
I saw your instagram post but didn't get a chance to respond so here's my reasons for following you. I enjoy your content because I see a woman that never signed up for this fame and success and the seldomly talked about pitfalls that come along with it. But through it all has managed to stay incredibly grounded and true to herself. You're so talented, warm-hearted and an underrated aspect of you is your sense of humor, you are legitimately hilarious. Unfortunately, you can't please everybody, and this internet culture we are in has only amplified that. It makes me really sad that you feel lonely and isolated. I hope you can get back to feeling like yourself soon.

3) You are SO understood and it's your absolute right to take a step back, reevaluate, and figure out what it is you want to do. It's YOU. And as much as I know you want to do things for your viewers and be the best for all of them, you HAVE to do what you feels right. Imposter syndrome is SO real and I can't imagine what it's like feeling this way in front of millions. There are always going to be people waiting to criticize and it is impossible to ignore but they're going to do that whether you're hiding yourself or bearing it all. So it's really up to you what feels right for you. For every one asshole, there's going to be 10 people on your team. Take all the time you need.

I feel like this at my workplace, I know we have very different careers (Creator Vs Teacher) However todays world is dog eat dog and the smallest slip can lead to catastrophe, and someone will be sitting there with a grinch grin. petting a bald pussycat. which is madness. I’m sorry that you’ve been having a tough time lately Zoe. It sounds like most youtubers have been saying the same thing. I watch some people’s videos where they constantly apologise for little things like background noise or lighting and I think it must be very frustrating when you are constantly scrutinised for the smallest thing. I feel like I’ve grown up with you as I’ve watched you for years and years and I know how different I feel now so you must be feeling the same. I think it’s time to put content out there about the things that are really important to you. The more natural something is the less people will pick at it. You enjoy interior design so maybe do a video of the process of you doing up that makeup room, showing your methods of choosing colours and furniture and art. Your friendships are so important to you so maybe make some videos that focus on those. Tell us how and why you became friends with that person. The videos I always watch of yours are your vlogmas series and I’m sure many people would say the same. It’s the Zoe that we know and love being excited about something and I think that’s what we all enjoy to watch. Keep making content lovely and know that no matter how many nasty and vile people there are trying you tear you down there are also so many people that love you but maybe don’t comment on videos or instagrams but just love seeing you be your lovely self 😁

Honestly, I watch your videos because it is just part of my weekly ritual. And i don't mean it in a bad way. You're just simpy part of my daily life, as other RUclipsrs that I watch are. I never comment, nor buy products or go to events but I'm here behind the screen for good 8 years now and I will continue to be because you are good person to have around, even trough screen.

Someone can say that your life and your career is perfect. But I honestly understand what are you trying to explain to us even if I am not a youtuber and my job is a lot different from yours. I just want you to know (and I think a lot of people will agree), that you have changed so many lives on this planet. Oh trust me, you were not just a girl, showing her new lipstick. You were also psychologist to young girls and boys out there. You have been one of the first youtubers that I have ever subscribed to, and I remember what youtube used to be.
What I want to say is: girl, you do YOU. I loved you, and the rest of influencers, even more when RUclips was different "place". Yes, there will always be someone who will not be happy with what you do, and how you do it, but someone will just have to accept that this channel is not for them. You are queen of a woman, girly, positive and creative. Show us YOURS creativity, not others expectations. THAT is what we want to see!

The easiest and hardest thing.. just stop. Stop trying to make others happy. Just stop. Just be your quirky, positive self that you’ve been for ten years. And not to say being positive means you can never have a down day or be sad, but generally you have an optimistic attitude. Remember, you’ve made your channels successful.
It sounds somewhat callous, but when you stop caring so much about what others think, your own authentic self can shine. And it’s quite freeing. Not to say that you should lack empathy but save the empathy for those that aren’t drama or overtly negative people.
No one can ever make everyone happy and there will always be those that are searching for the negative. But when you’re happy it will show through in your content.

I literally was scrolling through RUclips and I couldn't find any thing to watch and then your video popped up and I immediately clicked the video grabbed a drink and a snack and was ready to watch ♥️♥️♥️♥️
No matter who you are or what job you do, nobody is ever going to be able to please everyone. You are ALWAYS going to get mean and jealous people, or people that just don't get you. But.. you have a massive amount of people who love watching you for YOU. And content plays little part for me personally... I watch for you and your personality and I like you whatever you do.
Nothing's worth being stressed out about ... Worst case scenario .. you make a mistake. Everyone will judge you and write news articles about you etc but truth is EVERYONE IN THE WHOLE WORLD MAKES MISTAKES. And they'll happily judge you for yours to make them feel like a better person and their mistakes seem lesser. I personally find it reassuring when seemingly perfect and amazing people like you and Alfie make mistakes because guess what.. so do I.
As long as you are happy and your mind is happy and you aren't doing anything that harms anyone else, your true fans / family / friends will love you and why would you ever need anyone else. xxx

Zoe, this vlog honestly made me cry my eyes out , the fact we didn’t properly know how you were feeling broke my heart , i’ve been saying everyday “when will Zoe upload again , why isn’t she posting on this , why isn’t she posting on that ... ect” But after watching your little chat about having a break and needing to think about what you want , i’ve realised that i shouldn’t of been saying that , you deserve a break , if you feel you want to work on other things that allow you to be more creative ect ... you do that , like thats amazing ! You are human and dont feel bad if you dont think you’re being as real to us , at the end of the day this is your life and we shouldn’t need to know things you don’t particularly want to share, so if you dont vlog or upload as much that is absolutely fine , you do you. Take the time you need. I love about you that you‘re very positive, kind and not about „the tea“. I enjoy it seeing you posting selfies or dog pictures whatever without any crazy content or meanings bc these pictures are just like „yeah i‘m living my life“ or „my dog is freakin cute“ and that‘s really relaxing to me! There are so many influencer out there posting pictures from traveling the whole world and I‘m sitting at home like „okay whatever I can’t do this“, and you‘re showing you can have a nice and joyful life by simply cuddling your dog or going for a walk.

I think most people will agree that we all love just watching you and seeing what you get up to. You get so excited about the changes of the seasons and everything that comes with it. The fashion, the makeup, the holidays, etc. At least that’s it for me. I love your vlogs. And I love your main videos. It’s sad that things have to change but as someone who tried to make it online I had to just let go. So I completely understand if you wanna take a step back. Whatever makes you happy is the most important thing 🙂

I really understand where you are coming from. Your content has changed a lot over the past couple of years. Not in a bad way but I can see your more reserved. You are very down to earth from what we see but I can see sometimes that you keep yourself reserved. Swear shout scream laugh or cry everyone should get to be themselves. I was always wondering how you and other creaters cope with the "judgement" because even me, a person not really active on social media, am afraid of others opinions. However I will be here supporting every person who is themselves and doesn't give a sh*t about others :).
Maybe I'm speaking for myself on this but what I enjoy about a regular friend is that they hold their own opinion, millions of us view you as our friend and for me that's the reason I love to watch your videos, to see someone relatable, someone who speaks about their emotions and vulnerabilities. But sometimes you refrain yourself from the things we hope to see most from you. I continue to watch every video because i hope to see you speak on something that I can agree or disagree with, on real life events that affect you in good or bad ways...because for me a real friendship has those ups and downs. So please don't be afraid to be you and to give an opinion, because at the end of the day whether it be on a serious issue (keeping things pg though) or something really light hearted we value your opinion/your voice and what strengthens any friendship or connection is the ability to understand each other's thoughts and beliefs and learn from each other. We have to grow together, so please don't be afraid of being the real you, and if it goes downhill you have at least one of us (me right here) and i'm sure millions more...ready to cheer the real you on!!!
Just remember that when you started RUclips you made the videos you wanted to make. You didn't have the thought of what do others want because at the beginning there were fewer others. And because you made videos that you wanted to make that has what has gotten you where you are today. I hate that you feel this way and hope you can start to feel comfortable again very soon! People are very jealous of what you have built and will do anything to drag you down so that they can succeed. You do you boo that's why we love you.

Welcome back, Zoe! I am so glad you have addressed this. In posting this video, you are showing you ARE real, you CAN be open, and you do care about your work. As someone close to you in age who has watched you for many years, I sort of understand this feeling of something you love as both a hobby and career not feeling as rewarding or fulfilling due to overwhelming expectations. (Albeit, I feel this on a much smaller scale and not with 12 million people watching) I agree with you that it's important for your mental health and personal growth to take a step back and evaluate it all. It's such an important life lesson!!! I love your comment, "the more we are surrounded by negativity, the more normal it becomes." This is important to remember.
