I don't think _anyone_ thinks their mods will "cease to exist", i just think people are rightfully wondering how long it'll be before they can continue using their ~500 mod strong modpacks. Which quite simply comes entirely down to the mod authors, and whether or not they wish to continue updating their mods for each new build, and their own timetables if they do. Remember folks, Modders have lives too; Jobs, Significant Others, children, the need to occasionally feel joy, etc. They don't exist purely to create free shit for _you,_ dear reader.
I can guarantee you lots of people thought Build 42 would just flat out break mods forever lol. I've had tons of comments saying as much that I covered in a recent video.
@@MrAtomicDuck Oh lol, when you said "cease to exist" i thought you meant like, _literally disappear_ from existence. Not only become incompatible but actually be taken down by the authors. Lol. Which is goofy AF considering you can roll back updates for PZ so you can play B41 or even all the way down to the Build that added vehicles for as long as you like.
I mean as long as they are rolling out updates in 5 year gaps I'm sure it won't be an issue. Although maybe if they updated more often more people would play the game which would result in a bigger modding community. We'll have to look at the charts and see but right now there hasn't been that big of a surge in player count after the update dropped, but that's probably because it's Christmas and no one is gonna play games during Christmas. But from what I've seen so far the update is not nearly big enough for the amount of time it took them to make it
@@ProjectRUclips Respectfully, if you think PZ has a "small modding community" i don't think you're quite as informed on the topic as you may believe. PZ has one of the best communities i've seen in gaming, full stop. Both in terms of it's general player base and the modding community. And while yes, you may not be seeing the numbers on steamdb we'd all be hoping for, that's because Build42 is still currently in Unstable, give it another month or so when the more popular MP communities make the switch, or wait until it goes stable and i'm sure we'll see the same kind of _massive surge_ we saw from B40 > B41. Y'know what i mean?
@@NukerMunkyGamestold my friends to get PZ almost 10 years ago. I saw the potential and played it a ton. Now they're the ones wanting to play with me lol
Same. My favorite mods aren't what people would call popular. What are the odds we get an update for the hyundai azera mod as opposed to something like a Porsche 911 mod or the C8 corvette mod. The point isn't that no mods will ever work again. The issue is that your favorite lesser known mod might not get updated in favor of new mods, or more popular mods.
This is why experimental builds are awesome. It gives people early access if they want it but also gives modders some breathing room to prepare for the full release.
@@LoveJupiter325 Pretty much same, always run with true music + a million add ons, and the 50% spawn rate so every desk/glovebox/filing cabinet(ect) isn't FILLED with cassettes. Plus some qol stuff.
PZ isnt like hoi4 or stellaris where the mods have to make adjustments for each system change and small value adjustments each DLC. Most of our fav mods in B42 can just be copy pasted unless it itself introduced a feature adjacent or equal too whats coming in B42
Yup my update to 42 caused my 200 mods to no longer work not a single mod is working! I'll wait and hope the next update the mods will work again. I was told mods don't work in unstable versions
Even we from Hydrocraft will update to B42 even when many things are reduntand (truly redundant things will of course be archieved) and it will be a lot of work. But modding is a work of love so don't worry
If you come from games like WoW that are heavily modded you know that mod makers get right to work once a beta/alpha comes out. im sure some obscure mods will be lost but nothing of actual "value" to the community.
i just hope the exosuit and drug mods like weed an shit get updated lol seeing some dogs and cats would be awesome theyd like keep mice away from your food storage lol
I'm more concerned about my saved game, which I put a lot of hours into, whether I will be able to play it in b42 or if it will be stuck in the previous version forever... :\
NGL what absolutely ruins the game for me is the new sore mechanic that makes sure you've attracted every zomboid around, plus the ones in the next town over... By the time that you've killed your 3rd frigging target. Not to mention the god d*mned issues with boiling water (try putting a saucepan of water in the oven, turn it on and wait), or that you can't disinfect rags with it anymore.
Just a small note for you: All your shorts suffer from REALLY sharp hard consonants. All your words ending with S Are super sharp and bit crunched. I always have to lower my volume when your shorts show up, because its ear piercing. Might consider a more aggressive noise gate or filter my man

The way some people were so worried about this, and then we had B42 mods within hours of it releasing :'D The community healsss lol

*nervously laughs in 200+ mods installed* (i shit you not it takes like 2 mins before the game starts booting)
My worry, is thst the mods I use, won't get updated for awhile. I dont bother with maps. Just new weapons, skill balancing, vehicles

I had a drug Mod that added various uppers and downers that actually came in handy especially when exhausted 😂
someone: you might have to wait

There are already a bunch of mods that u can use in b42 like propane tank size adjustment and plank size adjustment u can also use vechile indicators
I literally never seen a community working so hard together. lol the only game where the community is wholesome 😅
I hope true music stays permeantly. I CAN'T GO BACK
For REAL.
SAME even when I want to go like "Vanilla game without mods" I always take some QoL mods that are ESSENTIALS to me + True Music with +100 addons lol

I'm really waiting for the "B42" category in the workshop, it's pretty hard to filter if a mod is updated or not.
Say a pray for all my 120+ maps on multiplayer...
R.I.P.
Im just hoping spongies open jackets gets updated soon. I wish theyd just make those features vanilla though.

I tried adding my normal QOL mods to build 42 and now my game doesn't launch -_-
Good to hear. I also have a quick question - what will happen to B41 save files? Both vanilla and modded?
There is always legacy mode. Use that to play with your old load order.
That jacket was so sick what clothing mod was that
It doesnt matter much to me me without multiplayer on build 42. I’ll try it out solo vanilla for fun and then go back to stable branch
only thing is we’re gonna be getting hotfixes and little updates here and there but still yeah
Tbh I’ve kinda accepted my losses. I made a huge workshop collection of my current mods for build 41 and just gonna start from scratch with build 42.

Gone, reduced to atoms.
@Mr Atomic Duck how to update on build 42 because I installed it on crack project zomboid
I'm more concerned about my saved game, which I put a lot of hours into, whether I will be able to play it in b42 or if it will be stuck in the previous version forever... :\
Hey mr duck, is it possible to make npc mod in current build? Love your content though ❤
Please for the love of god, have the Common Sense mod available on Day 1
it's updated for b42
NOOOO GOODBYE SOLAR PANELS 😭

Gas tank marker mod is useless now. 😏
Gods I hope I get a steam gift card for Christmas, it seems like the perfect time to start playing >

People just mod their games out of playability. It’s their own fault for not wanting a more vanilla plus game lol.

Some mod works fine.. some. Most of them arent.
They'll be updated, that's the whole point of the short and my recent video. Won't have to wait long and modders will update or replace.

Obvious lil bro but still sucks
