    Hi Jason, Thanks for the clarification on the use of this product (I just bought mine today from C-Cell :)), As it is more efficient to put the new super under the full one with the escape board between, i may do it this way instead but thanks for the fundamentals!

    That is pretty slick! When Ceracell products are more readily available this would be a nice tool to add to my operation.

    Looks like it worked a little better than the triangle escape I used this fall. Thanks for the video!

      I have never used an escape board of any kind until this one and I was very impressed. So your triangle escape board did not work too well? How long did you wait? Was there possible an entrance above it?

    • @MaryMillerSpoolhardyGirl
      @MaryMillerSpoolhardyGirl 6 лет назад +1

      Jason Chrisman I waited about 36 hours and there was no available entrance for them above the escape board. I think the trouble came for two reasons. First, the weather was pretty warm the night I had mine on, so the bees had no great incentive to travel down to the cluster, and my two hives have tons of bees, so they probably didn’t have enough room to move down even if they wanted to. In the past I’ve just done the shake and brush method, which is tedious, but effective. I only have two hives at this point, so it isn’t that bad. I might try a fume board next year and see how I like that method.

      Hey JC, Mary. I make my own double triangle escapes. They work about the same as the Ceracell it would appear. This would be a great alternative if you couldn't make your own though. Mary get some Fischers bee quick, lay a old t-shirt on top of the uppermost super. Spray it with Fischers. The Fischers is all natural essential oils and won't harm your bees or honey but it does help them get to moving out. Thanks for the review JC

    It would be interesting to see this tested on a hot summer day. Closing off the top of the hive to air flow will the hive over heat? Might need to put a screened top vent to keep it cool?

    • @JCsBees
      @JCsBees  6 лет назад

      Good points but I don't think the bee escape stopped much air flow, it's very well vented. Did you see the slits in it? I think if there was any resistance the bees would just beard or do more fanning at the entrance.

    • @mshaw290808mi
      @mshaw290808mi 6 лет назад

      Sorry I was not clear with my comment. Do you happen to know if the manufacturer tested this under worse case scenario? Worse case a new beekeeper with a new hive (well sealed to air currents) and owner painted the hive dark colors. His hive is in direct sunlight all day, he puts the bee escape on in the morning closing off the top and plans on coming back in 24 hours. And of course it gets super hot that day and clear skies! Can the hive get hot enough to harm the bees, does it need a screened vented top? Or maybe the manufacture did test this and perhaps they found the bees are not harmed and the escape even works better in hot weather because the heat pushes the bees down in the hive? Any mention of any of this in the instruction manual that came with it?

    I'm doing the same thing kind of getting away from the honey and focus on queens and nuc this year I'll keep a few for honey just for the people that has been buying it for the past 10 years. Look forward to next spring

    • @JCsBees
      @JCsBees  6 лет назад

      I still had 200 pounds of honey left from last year so I didn't harvest the first drop this year. It was nice not buying sugar to feed before winter due to not harvesting. In the future though, I will do like you and keep a couple to pull honey from.
      Have you started to sell nucs yet?

    • @rougaroubeecompany6948
      @rougaroubeecompany6948 6 лет назад +1

      Jason Chrisman no not yet on the Nucs but I did sell a few queens to a local guy this year. I'm focusing on queens mostly but I will sale a few Nucs . I left the fall honey on them last year and I'm doing the same this year. I got a phone call last Saturday from a guy wanting sale out so I'm going look at all of it next weekend that should give me enough to do a lot of nuc but i got to go check it out

      No. It's only to remove bees from honey supers so the beekeeper can harvest the honey in them.

    Hello JC! Can u say where i can buy nice and good beehive without bees? I made yesterday a Swarm trap and i will put it in the next summer so i will need a new hive for them

    • @JCsBees
      @JCsBees  6 лет назад

      Hello, Glad to hear your interested in keeping bees. Now do you realize the percentage rate of actually catching a swarm is low? If you have a lot of feral honey bees, then that will slightly increase your chances. Another way to increase the odds is more traps and a good lure. Where are you located? What kinda of a hive would you like?

      My opinion of any products discussed in my videos is not persuaded regardless if there is freebies or a payment is involved, I am sharing my honest thoughts. If you seen my video on the top nuc feeder, you may have noticed I pointed out some things I would like to see added. I speak about the products the way I see them and I hope it's helpful to everyone who follows and uses them.

    • @ronaldstilwell3464
      @ronaldstilwell3464 6 лет назад +2

      No worries. I believe you. Just noticed a recent increase in beekeeping supply companies using folks that post videos to sample their products. It is a clever way to get products in front of a pretty select demographic.

    • @JCsBees
      @JCsBees  6 лет назад +1

      Ron,
      You are very right about companies going through video creators to reach a new crowd but it's not limited to beekeeping. It's a really good idea on the companies part and it helps the creator expand into new things. I really don't see any down sides to it as along as the creators are honest with their demonstrations. I know it's funny to get a package and not know what it contains except it's bee related.
